Was really surprising. After several days having really good meals in Ponta Delgada, I was surprised by this one man show. Great tuna and octopus dishes. Pineapple pie was very good. Ricardo is a very good chef that does what he knows and cares to have his customers happy. I went in a Wednesday night, near 21:30, restaurant wasn’t full. Ricardo was very kind and helpful. After some minutes we doubt if there was any one else in the kitchen besides him. After some chat, Ricardo confirmed that he does everything. He explained that after so many disappointments with his previous employees, he implemented this one man show model. I recommend it to everyone. Must be booked, at least two days in advance. For sure I will return.

Vegetarian Restaurant, vegan friendly, gluten friendly,
I recently visited San Miguel and was impressed by the quality of the beef and restaurants in general. How ironic that my favorite restaurant by far was Rotas da Ilha Verde. What a simply charming experience. Their meals were unusual, creative and delicious. The wait staff was totally entertaining, helpful and very competent. A small specialty place, make sure to make Reservations as they fill up fast!

Several us from our group dined here with a Prix Fixe menu. We started with two appetizer plates of churizo and black sausage with olives and bread, tasty and they brought a second two plates. Our first course was a nice whitefish with sliced cabbage, some other vegetables in a nice lemon wine sauces with chopped garlic, delicious. Second course was bowls of slow roasted beef short ribs with potatoes in a nice beef stock. Oh, did I mention it also included all the beer and/or wine you wanted. Desert was a delicious blueberry cheesecake, The open air setting (they also have an enclosed dining area) was so romantic. Their regular menu also looked very good. Definitely need a GPS to find but well worth the search. .

At the counter you can pick the freshly catched fish what ever you want... barracuda, tuna and another 10 different ones...
Fishes are delicious, the garnish is from local. A nice starter is served. Nice local vines. The staff is helpfull, explanes all what you want to know about local fishes.
Price is average, worth to go here. 5 points!!!

Space that is distinguished by an intimate and friendly atmosphere. Has the intention to encourage the consumption of traditional Portuguese products, establishing a link between personal taste for public service and the appreciation and admiration for these products so genuine. The space will combine the traditional and refined, with a family flair and professionalism, AS public target, have the client, wishing to find an alternative space where someone with the satisfaction of being able to serve and to do make come back again.
I dont like leaving reviews for places I havnt actually eaten at but we did walk in, sit down, look at the menu and then walk out again so its probably worth me advising others too.
As far as I can tell no hot food is served here, just cold cuts of meat and cheese. Maybe this is what this place is all about, if so maybe Trip Advisor needs some new headings/options? After a cold, miserable and dreary day sight seeing in Sao Miguel (like it is most days) I want something warm for an evening meal.
This place is also slightly difficult to find as its location on the map on TA isnt correct (its in the alleyway behind where its spot is located on the map).
Also inside its very dark (again Im sure this is their USP but just feels odd to me).

We had tried to get into this restaurant on a day it wasn't open and returned to get in on another day on someones recommendation. It was disappointing that it did not live up to the recommendation. We tried a variety of dishes, and none matched any of the other food we had on the island. I would tell friends not to waste their time when there are so many great restaurants everywhere on the island

Visited Bar Caloura on various recommendations from local people. The restaurant is renowned for fresh fish. We weren't disappointed in any way! Fabulous food selection made from helpful staff recommendations.
Fish naturally. Lapas and gambas starter followed by grey mullet and local fish mix. Beautifully cooked and well presented. Service was superb throughout. Divine cheesecake dessert
and coffee to finish. A nice Alentejo Rocim wine accompanied the fish.
A lovely memorable meal. Highly recommended.

We have been in Lagoa for about 6 days now and visited O Alambique twice in the six days.. why you ask? because the food is amazing .. fresh fish daily and the service is fantastic. Plus they won an award for beef stew in 2016 and have quitr a nice menu to choose from. We plan to visit a few more times before we head back to Ontario Canada.
Here is the meal we had today and it was delicious!!

Ocean view restaurant for fresh fish, sea food and steakhouse with certificated beef of the azores
Visited here on day trip to 7 cities and lake of fire. Balck pudding and pineapple followed by steak with all the trimmings. Pineapple blancmange, coffee and beer set the seal on a good lunch. Good chicken and fish options - bread and fava beans were an added bonus. Baby changing facilities were much appreciated.

Frequented by the locals, the restaurant is located over the port and fish market, so fresh fish guaranteed. Selection called: "Catch of the day" is not big. But the view is! Before you go to the restaurant, check the sunset time. Eating good fish and seeing sunset in from of your eyes, this is the high/point of this place.
The prices are IMHO little too high. Too little salad to accompany the fish.
