Kissamos (Greek: Κίσσαμος) is a town and municipality, multiple (former) bishopric and Latin titular see in the west of the island of Crete, Greece. It is part of the Chania regional unit and of the former Kissamos Province which covers the northwest corner of the island. The city of Kissamos is also known as Kastelli Kissamou and often known simply as Kastelli after the Venetian castle that was there. It is now a port and fishing harbour, with a regular ferry from the Peloponnese via Kythira. A town museum is located in the old Venetian governor's palace and there have been important archaeological finds in the town, including fine mosaics, dating from the Roman city of Kisamos (Κίσαμος, Latinized as Cisamus). The head town of the municipality (Δήμος Κισσάμου) is Kastelli-Kissamos itself.

Recently dined at Gramboussa after Reading reviews and being recommended by our proprietor. We had high expectations, but were disappointed. The service was impersonal and average. I had chicken with sage, very tough and dry. My husband had the specialty lamb kleftico baked in phyllo, tasty, but no sides (no veggies or potatoes, just meat). Prices were on the high side compared to other dining establishments in the area. Despite the restaurant appearing popular and busy, we probably would not return.

Drive to the end of the beach at Sfinari and you find the Sunset Fish Restaurant. Right by the beach, very relaxed setting. Friendly and efficient service. Complementary desserts were delicious and huge- could barely eat them but somehow we managed. Loved it and will definitely be back if is this are again.

The Greek National Tourism Organization apparently includes it in the category of traditional Greek Cuisine. You come as a guest and you leave as a friend.
My Wife and I ate dinner at the local restaurant while traveling throughout Crete. We used TripAdvisor to discover this wonderful restaurant on the Water. The Staff was Amazing providing outstanding service. The food was incredible as I got the Cretan Salad.....Yummy!!! We highly recommend this restaurant & you will not be disappointed!!

We ended up here as the food at our hotel although good wasn't hot. What a find. The staff are excellent the surroundings lovely and the menu extensive. The food and wine couldn't be faulted and the portions were huge. The second time we visited we shared a main course. Nothing was too much trouble even adapting a main course to a starter for my partner as I'm allergic to fish but he loves calamari. They also provide a small dessert of vanilla ice cream dusted with cinnamon with a lovely orange sponge cake and fresh peaches and a small bottle of raki (wow, blows your head off stuff) on the house after each meal. Both nights came to approx €50 inc wine and water. It was well worth it.
Would recommend this place if you in Kissamos.

Traditional Greek food. We use only locally produced food of the highest quality. We also produce our own wine and Raki. We are open for breakfast until late and offer free wifi and a very friendly welcome.

We had a really nice dinner at Agarathos: great dakos, delicious bureki, tasty stuffed tomatoes... all the food is very good value for money. The service was perfect and efficient. The restaurant is also located in a very pretty area, just on the way to Balos beach!

Been here twice now. Regretting that is my last day in creta and only have found it yesterday. Good food, good staff, good environment.
You can make your own Sandwich or have one already made up, and they're delicious. Try the Fokatsia too.
Despite being next to a main road still a great place do eat.
By the way, the donuts are huge!!

Excellent service Mr Manolis and the team were great, the dishes were out of this world. Excellent dishes amazingly prepared and very tasty. I would strongly reccomend to try Marinated Gavros, Octopus and any fish on grill as main. If you are ever in Crete this place is a must. Thanks a lot guys for the amazing service and great experience.
Mr. Manolis is a great person...

Service was quite slow and food was OK. There a better places s to try on the area, but if you are around it's fairly decent.
