Basil's Grill at The Green offers modern Scottish cooking. The restaurant has an engagingly contemporary feel, with elegant décor and a stylish menu to match. The menu draws on seasonal local produce to create dishes such as oven-baked cod in a saffron mussel broth, trio of Loch Fyne salmon and a range of Aberdeen Angus steaks served with fat cut chips and all the trimmings. The adjacent Garden Bar serves a super range of pre and post dinner drinks and looks out over the picturesque courtyard of this traditional 18th century coaching inn.
After Reading the other reviews, I can’t believe we had such a dreadful experience here. We were staying in the hotel for our anniversary weekend on a breakfast only basis, and decided to try eating in Basils on our first evening. When we arrived , the Restaurant was empty apart from a single large table of ten. The waitress asked if we had booked - we had not - and she then hummed and hahed tapping a pen between her teeth while looking round the empty room. We were given a table for two and a menu each...then promptly ignored for twenty minutes. No drinks order, no food order, no one looked at us. The same waitress was scuffing back and forth serving food to the table of ten. ‘More bread please’. ‘But I didn’t order the hake?’ Hake is removed from table. ‘Oops sorry yes I did’. Hake is brought back. ‘More wine please’. Meanwhile, we are sitting genuinely wondering if we had suddenly become invisible. One other girl and two men in waistcoats passed at a distance, obviously staff, but no one so much as looked out way. Eventually we waved the poor waitress over and she took our drinks order, but she didn’t know what a ‘white zinfandel’ was, and looked completely blank when asked for an ‘ale shandy’. We probably should have left at that point....however, another ten mins pass before our food order is taken. My husband ordered the fish, and I decided to push the boat out with a sirloin steak at 25.00. By this time another couple have arrived and have been sitting near us, also getting absolutely no attention or service. So - that’s a table of ten and two tables of
two...and not a staff member in sight. I heard the man say to his wife, if they haven’t taken our order by the time I get back, we’re leaving. Our food eventually arrived and my steak was raw, and literally stone cold. Husbands fish was perfectly cooked if bit small and, to be fair, he was happy with it. I then genuinely waited another ten mins staring at a cold steak as there was no one around to speak to about my food. The place was like the Marie Celeste, especially when the other couple left, giving us sympathetic looks and shrugs on the way past. It was unbelievable. Finally a supervisor appeared and my congealed meal was sent back to the kitchen. A new steak came back ten mins later properly cooked but it wasn’t twenty five quids worth and I didn’t enjoy eating it, sitting opposite my husband and his empty plate. We couldn’t wait to get out of there. To add insult to injury we were fully charged for the complete meal without any reduction or goodwill gesture, and as a further slap in the face - on further inspection of the bill when we got back to our room we discovered we had been charged a steak supplement of Ten pounds on TOP of the twenty five pounds! This supplement is supposed to be paid by staying guests INSTEAD of the twenty five pounds if you are staying on a dinner room rate...they couldn’t even get that right. You would think they would have checked and double checked our bill given the dining experience we had just had! Safe to say we will never ever return.

Loch Leven’s Larder, is a family run farm, restaurant, deli and retail shop situated three miles from Kinross – in the heart of Perthshire, easily accessible from Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee.
Was walking the Loch Leven Heritage trail and decided to stop here for some tea and cake - as I am known to do.
It was quite busy but I was seated quickly and locals who were visiting just struck up a conversation with me recommending dishes that they have when they visit, a really friendly atmosphere.
I loved the décor with the dark wood walls, wooden tables and chandeliers. As much as the woodwork is dark there is so much light. Not at all dingy. Glass doors and windows to the park area, obviously closed on my visit as we're still in Winter.
I opted for tea and coffee cake. It was a little bit dry but I still enjoyed it and it was a big slice of cake to be fair. I really was struggling to choose. In the cabinet there are 3 shelves and the top one is all gluten free, again lots of choice. I was tempted to get some to take away but really that would have required another walk - I'll just have to go back!
They also do soups and larger lunches which seemed to be really popular and it all looked freshly cooked from what I could see.
I had a good look around the gift shop area (which is being refurbed) and a visit to the toilets which were immaculate.
I'll definitely visit again.

We celebrated my parents Golden Anniversary here a few years back. They picked it due to a combination of the friendly owners and phenomenal food, that they had enjoyed many times before.
It lived up to the hype!!!!!
Book, get a taxi and enjoy a great evening experience.

Welcome to Le Jardin, where our menu features something to suit everyone's tastes. What better way to warm yourself up on a chilly winter's day than by sitting down to a hearty bowl of our homemade soup or creamy macaroni? Or if you're in the mood for something lighter, you'll be spoilt for choice when you see our eclectic range of crunchy salads. Perhaps you live locally and feel like treating yourself and a friend to lunch, or maybe you're visiting Kinross-shire on holiday and fancy a melt-in-the-mouth scone washed down by a pot of piping hot tea. Whoever you are and whatever you like to eat, you'll love Le Jardin. Our focus is firmly on freshly prepared food that looks and tastes great, so our menu features a wide range of healthy, wholesome snacks, starters and main courses - though, of course, if you're in need of a little treat, you can equally well order a round of sandwiches and a cream cake (or three) for afternoon tea! Locals and visitors of all ages love our light, spacious restaurant with its gorgeous sunny conservatory. OK, we admit - it's not always sunny in Kinross, but on rainy days you can always use your imagination! Conveniently situated just off the M90 and adjacent to the local Dobbies Garden Store, the aptly named Le Jardin restaurant is a popular port of call for locals and visitors to the area alike. Recommend by a work colleague after asking about for a decent place for lunch in local area. 1st visit we had to be turned away unfortunately as the place was heaving and we hadn’t booked. Returned the following week after making a booking and glad we did. Food is superb and always good to see a lunch menu that doesn’t follows the usual macaroni, steak pie and chips etc.
Portion sizes are generous and food is well presented.
Highly recommend the black pudding, bacon and apple Sandwich!
Will be back ASAP.

Part of the Todd & Duncan Cashmere Spinners, this fabulous shop and Coffee shop is has just celebrated its 5th birthday. The Coffee Shop serves tasty treats from soups, sandwiches, panini's etc along with lovely traybakes and home made scones. The shop has a good reasonably priced selection of cashmere, but also stocks branded merchandise, toys, and an amazing selection of gift cards and gifts for every occassion.
The knitwear is gorgeous, albeit expensive but it is cashmere after all. Wish the same could be said of the rather frumpy clothing offered.. A store for the "older" woman.

This place is almost on our doorstep hence we don't visit often. The last time we were there the hot filled rolls were superb, tasty brown seeded rolls with nice fillings, hence we ordered a bacon and egg roll and a black pudding roll. Whilst waiting for them I had a view of the kitchen, a lady produced a large food container which was filled with pre cooked bacon! Which was placed in the oven ( I assume the black pudding is done in the same manner). Once served we took them outside to the tables there, the black pudding roll was swiftly returned to the kitchen as it was barely warm, I was politely offered a replacement which I declined.
Just how difficult and time consuming can it be to cook bacon and black pudding fresh rather than serving up twice cooked bacon and cold black pudding.
The rolls were also a major disappointment, gone are the seeded brown tasty rolls and the replacements must cost 10p max as they are cheap rubbish that a discount store would refuse to stock.

We are very lucky to have a fabulous location right on the pier of Loch Leven, which is breath taking! Our restaurant has an amazing ambience and many unusual objects dotted around giving a quirky cosy feel. All our dishes are cooked fresh to order & is bought from local suppliers. Due to this we change our menu each season. The Boathouse won Best Restaurant 2016. I'm summer months you can sit on our decking area and enjoy watching the boats on the loch. Weddings and celebrations are our specialty! We are well known for our Jazz nights (1st Saturady of every month) and every Sunday on the decking in August. Our team are well trained, friendly and informative. Dogs are made very welcome on our separate sofa area also. We have a great Gift Shop selling lots of unusual things & from April The Grub Hub opens where you can enjoy a freshly cooked Crepe from 10am till late weather permitting. We are of the beaten track a wee bit, but very well worth it for the views, award winning food and superb friendly service.
Visited with family for Mothers' Day and really enjoyed the experience. There was a limited choice on the special menu but I think between us we tried everything and it was all good. The chocolate hummous was unusual and well presented. The staff were warm...MoreThank you so much for taking the time to write your review. Delighted you enjoyed. The Boathouse
