Ketchikan, one of Alaska's most Southeastern cities, is the first stop for many cruises on their way to more Northern climes. A stay in Ketchikan itself can be rewarding, however, as the city is the gateway to Misty Fjords National Monument, an area so beautiful, it is known as "The Yosemite of the North." With steep valleys formed by glaciers and lava flows left by volcanic activity, Misty Fjords offers gorgeous views of natural formations, all reflected in the calm waters of Pacific inlets.

Our tour guide said this was the best candy store in Alaska, so we had to check it out. Multiple packages of chocolate covered oreos were purchased, covered with dark, milk, mint, and white chocolate. They were delicious. Also, we bought Peppermint Patties, also covered in dark chocolate.

Seasonal business.
We were glad to find this coffee shop which served breakfast. In addition to the delicious bagel sandwiches, they also had oatmeal to warm you up. It was crowded when we got there but they handled it well. We enjoyed this place very much.

Ate here as part of a cruise excursion. All you can eat crab which was fresh and delicious, served with melted butter. I believe there is a chicken option if you don’t eat crab. Had a contest who could build highest crab tower. Fun lunch which included a complimentary beer (Alaskan) or wine. Good cheesecake for dessert. They have a small gift shop as well.

We were on an Alaskan cruise in Ketchikan. While there, we asked a local where to eat and drink. SOOOOO, they pointed us to Asylum and Burger Queen. First of all, inexpensive craft beer was served, alongside some of the best burgers we've ever had. Expensive places can eat their hearts out. The owner and bar tender and a couple of the locals were absolutely hilarious and fun to be around. We had a great time, great drinks, and awesome food.

Big thanks to the owner and staff of this busy cafe, who make Polar Treats such a warm, welcoming spot to cruise ship visitors. Your kindness in providing wifi and toilet facilities, somewhere to sit and the most delicious Mexican Hot Chocolate needs to be acknowledged. You have given us such a happy last impression of Alaska. Your support is greatly appreciated and I will tell lots of friends.

I have been buying coffee in this place for years and I was never disappointed. Steve, the owner, provides an incredible selection of green or roasted coffees from all over the world using the fair trade process. I find his coffee among the best I have tried around the world. Thank you for existing.

The Alaska Fish House is easily Ketchikan's first choice for fresh Alaskan seafood. Visit us at the end of Main Street, just a short walk from the cruise ship docks. Enjoy gourmet seafood dining next to the most historic fishing fleet in Ketchikan. Try a complimentary sample of our delicious smoked salmon corn bread while ordering from our menu featuring alder-grilled salmon, halibut & chips, crab, and our famous smoked salmon chowder. Ship home the same smoked salmon that we feature on our menu.
There is fish and then there is Alaska Fish House fish! OMG the halibut is to die for. We had lunch here - we both had the fish and a cold beer - sat in the sun and wondered what the poor people were doing :)

Nice locally owned place with excellent clam chowder! Right on the pier if you happen to arrive via cruise ship and need a clam chowder fix. They also had very good fish tacos, and offered other local fish specialties in addition to burgers, etc. Nothing fancy, but the locals do eat here, since they are open year round. Worth a visit.

We ordered halibut and cod fish and chips, with chowder as the side. It was delicious! It's a bit pricey, but there's enough food in a basket to split between two people. The hours they have listed aren't always accurate though; there were several times we tried to go and they were closed, despite the hours listed saying they were open.
