It took George H.W. Bush to make Kennebunkport known to most of the country, but New Englanders have enjoyed this quiet coastal Maine town for years. In hot weather, beaches are a major draw, but Kennebunkport's many small boutiques, art galleries and restaurants make a visit fun at any time of year. Inveterate shoppers may want to combine a visit to Kennebunkport with a trip to nearby Kittery, where dozens of outlets and factory stores offer plenty of bargains.

If you’ve ever dined on a luxury ocean liner, you know: Water all around piques your appetite, invites you to slow down and enthralls throughout a meal like no other show on earth. And if you haven’t, that experience awaits at the Cape Arundel Inn & Resort’s glass-walled, waterfront, fine dining restaurant: Ocean. Memorable evenings at Ocean begin with cocktails, like our Maine maple syrup-sweetened Amber Sky, on the inn’s relaxing front porch or at the bar. Continue your culinary journey in the dining room, where every table has a view of the frothy blue sea. Chef Pierre Gignac’s creative menus change with the seasons, showcasing not only Maine-caught seafood in signature dishes like Lobster Thermidor, but the best of what is grown, raised and produced locally. His eye-pleasing creations take inspiration, too, from across the Atlantic. Expect the familiar flavors of southern France and the Mediterranean with intriguing new twists, plus an international selection of wines.
Even in the off season, this charming, sophisticated restaurant was completely full. As the sun set we could gaze at the ocean and the Bush complex, which is nearby. Service was terrific. The lobster thermidor appetizer was pricey but swoon-worthy. Entrees were just right. Cocktails were capacious. A fun, romantic, high-end discovery.

We were touring Maine and leaf peeping when we stopped in Kennebunkport. A previously read about ice cream location had closed for the season and we saw Rococo. Our group of 5 took advantage of their offers of "tastes". There were MANY tempting flavors. Though a little pricey the servings were DELICIOUS and generous. The small offers 2 flavors and a sugar cone.

We had the nicest experience here at this restaurant. The baked goods were sublime especially the cherry macarons. We will be stopping again the next time we visit the area. Wonderful place, we would recommend it to anyone. The bakery attendant on duty when we...MoreHi Travelleranddog, Thank you so much for your review! Stopped here for coffee after today's bike ride. Coffee was very good and they had good seating and a restroom. The server was very nice and helpful. Good view out the back over the river!

I had a hamburger and baked potato . My husband had 2 lobsters which were accompanied by a bag of Lay's potato chips and melted butter stuff. He said it was the best lobster he ever ate.
Shanty type decor in a shack - like building (I imagine... It was dark out). Simple tables and benches (bolted to the floor if I remember correctly) with quite a few layers of paint on them, it would seem.
They do well what they do. Hamburger was okay, simply something to have on the menu for people like me.
We shared blueberry pie for dessert, it was okay, not more.
We didn't have to wait on line due to the season but I'm sure during peak times there will be lines out the door.
Come for the lobster.

Enjoy our charcuterie, pizzas, salads and European-inspired small plates in our intimate dining room or on our seasonal outdoor patio.
The wine selection is great, and it's even fun to sit at the bar. The small plates have a Mediterranean flavor, which was welcome after a vacation comprising two solid days of lobster (not that I'm complaining). It felt date-y, urban yet not, overall a...MoreThanks for coming in, and for writing all those nice words ... Please come back and see us soon.

Really great homemade ice cream and soooo many flavors to choose from. Huge portions, so don't let your brain trick you into thinking you need a Large...a small is equal to any other place's large! We order "kiddie" sizes and several of us couldn't finish those!

Tucked away on Cross Street in a re purposed old barn, in the heart of Kennebunkport, is where you will find Bandaloop's bright red doors beckoning you in. A warm, inviting, comfortable atmosphere with eclectic art and good music will complement your organic, fresh, and tasty dining experience. No pretense, just simple, friendly, and delicious!
Bandaloop takes online reservations (which I love) and it was so nice to have a table during the first Prelude weekend. The place is rustic, cozy, with nice lighting and an open kitchen. Cocktails are creative and delicious. The food is ridiculously fresh and colorful. We started with bread and an oil dipping sauce, which was excellent. I ordered the grilled chicken with peanut sauce and pesto sauce. It comes with a medley of fresh vegetable and crispy udon noodles. Fantastic flavors! My husband ordred the scallops with rice, pinapple cliantro salsa, and vegetables- also excellent! the meal was not cheap but it was worth the money. Great serice and the kitchen seemed on top of things. I will definitely be back!
