We stopped by when they opened on a Tuesday morning to pick up fish for dinner. We got pink snapper filets and scallops and everything was wonderful. The helpful woman at the counter told us how to cook the snapper and it turned out great. I would definitely come here again next time I'm in the area!

Specialties Specializing in the most finest & flavorful Shave Ice experience, with the welcoming spirit of Aloha. History Established in 2014. From Infancy, My mother raised me in a Shave Ice Trailer and taught me everything I needed to know about the World of Shave Ice. Naturally, Shave Ice became a big part of my upbringing, being that I was with my mother on a daily basis. At the young age of 12, I made my first Shave Ice. From there, the rest is history. Now I am here to share with the rest of the world, "The Flavors of the Island", from "The Original Big Island Shave Ice Company". Meet the Business Owner Reggie I. Born and Raised in Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii. Reggie loves to provide the "Best Shave Ice" for all to taste and enjoy. There have been times, Reggie has made Shave Ice for family members to taste-test during the wee hours of 11 o'clock at night. There is still a family record, in which, one member of the family ate four Shave Ice in a row. In other words, Shave Ice runs deep into the blood of the family, lol. Come down and experience this life-changing experience! Credit to Kayah I. (Son of Reggie I.) For the graphic design on the Shave Ice Trailer
I have to confess, I wasn't in the mood for shaved ice...I was having a crappy day. But wherever we go, hubby has ice-cream or shaved ice and I played along.
Outside the shopping area in Waikoloa we found this truck and it was really good (yes I tasted). What I really liked was they offered fruit based flavors outside of the syrup flavors, which was nice compared to others that only offer they syrupy flavors.
So the flavors were good (I rate it the 2nd best on all of the islands, just under the stop on the road to Hana on Maui)
Portions are large and while I wasn't in the mood, was intrigued by the coffee/chocolate offerings.

Located just a short distance from the glorious white sand beaches of the Kohala Coast, Kohala Burger and Taco is an affordable and friendly spot with a feel good, nostalgic flair. We serve 100% local grass fed beef and fresh, sustainably caught fish in burgers and tasty tacos. Daily specials, Milk Shakes and kids meals, too! Stop in for an Authentic Dole Pineapple Whip! This tasty Soft Serve Treat was once only available at Disney Parks and at the Dole Plantation on Oahu. KBAT has got it!
We went by last trip and decided to stop today. A really cool hole in the wall with neat signs on the walls. Friendly people and personal service. The burgers were great with a big soft bun condiments drooling out and tasty beef. Fries were good and the shake was covered in whipped cream. A few family style picnic tables for indoor seating. A mix of locals and tourists made for cool conversations. We definitely will be back and it should not be missed if you are in the area.

Food: We use the freshest ingredients available, in most cases, farmed right here on the big island. We have an herb garden out back which we use to make all of our own homemade soups and sauces. We shop at the local farmers markets for many ingredients. We care about what goes into our bodies and our community! This means we don't believe in microwaves, GMO foods, or artificial flavorings. We do believe in organic, local, and gluten free alternatives. We believe that fresh foods are better for all of us. All produce and baked goods are sourced locally! Come check us out :) Coffee and Tea: We have friendly, knowledgeable baristas here to craft you a delicious beverage. We use cold brewed coffee as our iced coffee. We feature our islands best coffees, available for personal pour overs and french presses. We also have 100% organic and local teas available for those who do not like coffee :)
Good coffee, breakfast sandwiches and pastry's at "not ridiculous tourist prices" in a small space with small indoor and outdoor tables. They seem to have a lot of local regulars which makes parking, ordering and finding a place to sit a bit of a task but when compared to the costs incurred at tourist hotels and restaurants just for coffee drinks and pastry's it's worth the effort

We like this place and go there each year we are on the Big Island. We stay at the Waikoloa resorts so this is a good alternative to the overly pricey hotels' and shopping centers' restaurants. They have locally caught fish, which I had. Hubby had the Seafood Quesadilla which was good but the cheese was a creamier one than we are used to. But still tasty. They have good prices at their happy hour, too. The place is not glamorous -- but kinda cute. Think Tiki bar! While you are up that way, check out the Gallery, just a block further -- next to Cafe Pesto. Awesome stuff there.

After golfing at Hapuna Prince, we went here for breakfast. For a small place they have "choke load" selections. I had the Sunrise Special. Scrambled eggs, bacon and rice with side order Podagee sausage. The Podagee sausage was on the thin side but everything else was good. They use paper plates I assume to reduce cost since place is small. Service was quick. Go check 'um out.

"The best of Hawaii's hidden treasures," claim food critics and locals alike. The menu features fresh local seafood, exotic pizzas, colorful eclectic salads and Asian inspired pastas and risottos. The harbor settings, rich in Hawai'ian history, provide a backdrop of authenticity and charm to the award-winning restaurant. Visit the stone temple Heiau of Kawaihae harbor to view the ancient shark deities on their sunset vigils.
We ordered take out pizzas, pasta and salad for 4 of us..First of all, a 50 minute wait..and it was only 5:15p.m....When we opened up the pizzas at home, they were big thick doughy crusts, with barely any toppings..salad had 1 small container of dressing for a salad for 4..
Will go back again as there aren’t many options in Kawaihae harbor...but will dine in the restaurant with hopes we will have a better experience..
