Kanchanaburi, capital of Kanchanaburi Province, is home to the Burma Railway (aka "Death Railway") bridge built by Allied POWs during WWII and immortalized in Bridge Over the River Kwai. A memorial and two museums commemorate those who died in the effort, and a yearly carnival includes a pyrotechnic recreation of the bridge’s bombing. The wider province offers forests and caves to explore, and beautiful waterfalls.

Celebrate Thai FoodIndividual favourites cooking is an artThe Blue Rice Restaurants prepare exceptionally delicious food, prepared by Apple, Noi and our passionate team. Enjoy traditional Thai recipes, and special home-made treats. Among many highlights in our extensive menu are a mouthwatering coconut and cashew infused Massaman curry, and ‘The best Tom Kha Kai ’. Meat lovers and vegetarians will be full and happy. It’s a happy fact that many of our guests have stayed in Kanchanaburi several extra days, for just ‘one more meal at Apple’s!’
We had lunch at Blue Rice based on good review from TA community. It was lunch time on Saturday and we were the only people eating there. It's a small restaurant by the river. Not too many dishes in the menu. Food was okay with smiley service. But nothing spectacular.

Mangosteen is back in it's old location. It's as good as ever. The food is still delicious, well priced and delivered promptly to the table. They serve Interesting Thai dishes that you may not have tried before as well as the old Thai favourites and also more contemporary western food. I've eaten here every day in Kanchanaburi and have never been disappointed. Great ambience and friendly service.

Italian and Thai food
We love Asian food but when travelling for a few weeks with teenage kids a good pizza dinner always goes down well. Bell's Pizzeria in Kanchanabuti certainly delivered when we visited in April 2017... Friendly staff, a great fun ambiance and decor, fabulous Pizza along with some Thai starters and cold beer. Prices are reasonable and we all loved our visit to Bell's - Highly Recommended.

Thai and Issan Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant & Cooking School in Kanchanaburi, Thailand
The food is great can't fault it, you can tell this place is very popular as we've come 4 days in a row and it's always busy or sold out of stuff which is a positive message to the lovely chef! Found the staff very accommodating and helpful and did all they could to get us seated and fed. They allow you to pick the spicyness which is ideal as I can't handle the Thai spice haha! Really lovely little restaurant with loads of vegan options (which is tough at the best of times) I 100% recommend a visit for vegans and non vegans alike. Amazing!

Only went for a drink, Modern bar with comfy Seating undercover and river Terrace, live music on the night we went. The band played background sophisticated music which was a relaxing change from some of the loud base boom played in many Thai bars.
Drinks not cheap but the place is upmarket.

We ate here twice over 4 days.
The location next to the lighted River Kwai bridge and ambience get top marks.
The multi-tiered design, sloping down towards the river but not be great for seniors who have walking challenges.
Food, service and prices were good for a restaurant of this calibre.
We particularly enjoyed the sun-dried fried pork and a green chicken curry.

Called in here a couple of nights ago after visiting previously three years ago and we could not believe the prices.....very cheap but excellent food (many thai customers also which is always a good sign).......large fresh cooked fish with salad 150 baht, large Chang/Leo 65 baht, fried rice 40 baht, plenty of choices on the extensive menu, needless to say we have returned each night on our 3 day trip.........highly recommended!

After Reading the many good reviews left on trip advisor we decided to eat here, but it was a huge let down. The food at best was average and some of the dishes were really greasy, we were prepared from Reading reviews that some dishes may all not arrive together due to being cooked fresh which I really don't mind however when the time difference between the first and the last dish is roughly 45 minutes the rice which was served at the start was stone cold by the time the curry we ordered to eat with it arrived 45 minutes later. I would definitely not eat here again, there are much better options at lower prices elsewhere, I'm really not sure how this restaurant is rated so highly maybe we just had a poor experience, but I wouldn't recomended it.

Just a short drive or a 10 minute walk across the river from the busy tourist road is a different world of peace, quiet and the sounds of nature. Enjoy all the quality and service that has made Mangosteen Cafe so well known, but with beautiful views, Gardens, childrens play area, car parking and air-con. Mangosteen Garden Restaurant offers a large and interesting menu of Thai and International foods. Also fresh coffees, many fruit drinks and cocktails and is a great place to meet friends and enjoy a beer or two as well.
We were very pleased to have chosen this restaurant for lunch. We ended up staying for hours thanks to the lovely garden setting and the range of games they have for customers to enjoy.
The menu has a good selection of Thai and Western dishes as well as some interesting fusion options.
The service was excellent, they were they accommodating and friendly.
