A great place to eat when you visit Chapala, amazing views, free boats rides, delicious food and a familiar environment.
Lovely setting & interesting entertainment..Birds being feed from the Dock..quite the noise..
Our food was good..Nothing too special..Pulpo was good but not expecting so much BBQ sauce..
We were very surprised by the Bill for 4..
Very expensive lunch...
I think the price went up with the add on of an appetizer....( that was suggested by our waiter..) Our meals & drinks were not expensive..quite reasonable..so the only explanation of the amount of the bill..was outrageous..The Scallops for 3..a large amount..& good..Just a surprise..Not sure if we will return..

Food is reasonable, generously portioned and delicious. Their Balsamic Vinegar salad dressing is really great and available in "wine bottle" size for around $200 pesos. Kudos to Germann, the proprietor of this special place.

What a delightful, upscale and very modern locale....and delicious foods, steaks especially tender and juicy, and the prices!! Did I mention the crepes suzette? To die for.......
Worth the drive...a delightful surprise and we wish them all success. A pleasant drive thru San Juan Cosala on a pleasant evening....along the lake at sunset. Sounds poetic, doesn't it?

La Carreta is a grilled steak house, established back in the '80s, and is decorated in warm colors with old time farm implements hanging on the walls. They have T-bone plus several Mexican cuts. I recommend their "Vacio", which I think the tenderest piece of beef I have eaten in Mexico. Service is attentive and delivered with a smile. Prices are moderate. They are open Thursday - Tuesday, 1:30 - 8:30.

We had once previously had Birria (a goat stew) at a restaurant at home in Chicago. Upon visiting Jocotepec at lunch time we saw around the town square several Birrierias. We decided upon El Tatamudo because it was the most crowded (I believe we were the only tourists). People were friendly and we got a table and drinks right away but were told that the food would be delayed for "cinco minutes," several times! As our Spanish is limited and the servers English non-existent we could not determine the cause of the delay, but people kept coming in to sit down. 20 minutes later we received our Birria. It was worth the wait!! The Birria was very tasty, served with chopped onions and homemade tortillas. Definitely worth the wait, and a visit if one is in the area!

A very popular roadside restaurant serving authentic excellent Mexican food at weekends. It is our favourite lunch place on Sundays, where we always have their signature Carnitas (pulled pork), served with beans, guacamole, nopal salad and tortillas. In addition, there is always a selection of some 8-12 salsas of different “heat” ratings. Their beers are cold but beware of their margaritas! Parking is not a problem and we always take our three well-behaved dogs. Cash only.
