I grew up in a German family and have visited Germany many times. So finding good German food is always a treat, especially in the South. Waldhorn is my fix when I visit friends in Charlotte. I love the wurst platter as a good starter to share. The selection of wurst is great, well prepared, and served with excellent German-style sauerkraut. This time several of us had the sauerbraten and I liked the sides that came with it but the meat itself was a bit more dry and less spicy than I had on my previous visit.
The setting is really nice and the service staff were excellent and knew the dishes very well. They also have a great selection of German beers and wines. If you want to leave the South and enter into a German setting, this is a nice place to do that.

We had an excellent meal. Only problem is it is quite loud. We were there early and had to wait for rest of group to arrive. It filled up fast. And can understand. Wonderful servers and awesome food. I had scallops which were cooked to perfection with mushroom risotto. Highly recommend but don’t expect to have a quiet conversation with your friends. In a lovely old building.

These are beautiful and HUGE. We each got a mini-bundt cake. One was Chocolate chip and two were some sort of Raspberry. We all wanted to get the same thing, but they did not have 3 of anything we wanted (4:30 PM). ANYWAY... we did not know that there were not tables inside. We thought that they might have a few bistro type tables, but that is NOT the case... it's all to-go. We took the treats and went next door to Starbucks and sat there and enjoyed our deserts. Each mini-cake comes in it's own plastic container and we all took home about half of our treat. The total for all 3 was $16.28 with taxes. I enjoyed mine, as did my guests, but I might think twice before I spend $17 on 3 afternoon snacks. I do know that they have some smaller ones (better personal size), but I think you have to buy a minimum number of those at a time. They also sell the huge regular family size cakes.
I hope that this was helpful....
Just know that it's a to-go purchase, but they are SUPER YUMMY!

This is a very popular restaurant with our community. I am not a fan of smoky meat but I can understand how others would like this restaurant. It is new to the area and many of our friends are customers.

We went to a movie and then stopped by Rush Expresso for coffee and dessert. They had entertainment there - a guy singing and playing guitar. He was very good. We enjoyed our coffee and dessert and the atmosphere was really nice for a date night. They also serve dinner so we will try that next time.

My family arrived before I did, and had already ordered. Their response of the food was good, but the service was slower than a snail. After I had been there 10 minutes and I asked for some water. The couple that was sitting beside us, had been there before I got there; and they stated that there drink order hadn't even been taken yet. When the waiter returned, I mention they were ready to go if they couldn't get served. The waiter's response was they have been busy, no excuses are accepted when the restaurant is 1/2 empty. If you get over loaded respond by getting help, not make the patrons wait. This was the 2nd time we have been here hoping to get better service. Food is good, but not worth poor service.

The atmosphere is very fast food oriented, so is ordering food, but the food is a good bit better than normal fast food fare. They have some nice Peruvian sides and drinks to experiment with. The plantains and yucca fries were bot very good. The roasted chicken was so-so, not particularly distinguishable as Peruvian. I had the dark meat quarter, and it was a very small portion. My daughter had the white meat portion which was larger, but fairly dry. The other members of our party had wraps and salads which were better portions, and tasted better as well.

We have now been back to Hobo's from south Charlotte several times since coming upon Hobo's last spring. We have had a variety of meals and have not been disappointed. The burgers are quite good. We love the pasta salad. Various other meals and salads have been very tasty. We do have two recommendations: keep the facilities clean and urge all servers to pay careful attention to customers rather than each other and their telephones.

This was our first visit, and we will return. The food we ordered and received was very good. It included gluten free French toast and flapjacks, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, a Greek omelet, potatoes and grits. Coffee and orange juice. The food was tasty and plentiful. It was very crowded at 11 am on a Sunday. We were told there would be a 50 minute wait, but it turned out to be only 30 minutes. Service was excellent. The only "negative" was the cost. $51.59 plus tip. Breakfast for three.

It's all about family. Big View was designed to make you feel right at home. Come casual, make yourselves comfortable! Big View always means big value. A classic diner menu with a full breakfast under $5. Menu items as low as $2.99. Almost nothing over $12. The kind of prices New York, Philly and Baltimore diners used to have, plus advantages they never had. Like gorgeous retro modern decor, food made by real chefs from all natural ingredients, vegetarian options, and a kids' menu with healthy choices. Spur of the moment trip to Charlotte and googled diners nearby it popped up this lil gem. I was thinking it was going to be your run of the mill diner but this place is NOT run of the mill! First off it was noon and alot of people were very dressed up. The food was labeled like old school on menu but definitely had a unique twist on old favorites. I loved the beef stroganoff and sis got tuna melt and chili. We both enjoyed our meals, service was good. The only thing I could recommend was to management the cakes looked AMAZING so I got strawberry cake and it was dried out a bit not sure if it sat on shelf to long or what? But definitely check this spot out with its cool vibe and healthy size portions!
