Been here a few times have not eaten though, have purely went to view the vast whisky collection it is amazing and the lady owner is just an absolute treasure I could listen to her stories all day she made us feel very welcome, she could tell us about any whisky she had it is quite a collection, we collect, so for anyone that does you must go and see.

Pretty average pub dining room with friendly staff and average food if you like chips with everything. Why can't pubs offer fresh green vegetables?!Thanks for your comments. We do have daily deliveries of veg and most dishes give a choice of veg or salad. Chips are standard but we also offer boiled and mashed potatoes.

The Huntly Hotel is a beautiful building in a prominent position at one corner of the Square in the centre of Huntly. It has changed hands a number of times recently and we are hoping that the new owners will be able to invest in the building to bring it up to the standard appropriate to such a hotel on the southern edge of the Highlands. But don't be put off by the shabby appearance of the building. The staff are welcoming and friendly and there is a good three course menu with plenty of variety for evening meals and lots of good quality snacks at lunchtime. The bar is friendly but can be very noisy in the evening. The dining room is cavernous and usually not very full. However the food is excellent, mainly good wholesome Scottish fair with a few nice original twists and the portions are generous by any standard. The biggest surprise is that the presentation of each dish is simply beautiful. Far better than we have ever seen in a comparable establishment anywhere. Check out the haggis starter and the Sticky Toffee Pudding - and the pies and other mains are just fantastic in terms of quantity, presentation, quality and general yumminess!
This hotel does not have the strongest reputation locally but don't let that put you off. Give it a try. Sit in the bay window looking down Gordon Street - either at night as the light is fading or during the day - and you will have a magical dining experience with simply excellent food and great service.

Home of Dean's melt in the mouth shortbread & biscuits
Ate here at the recommendation of the staff in the office at Huntley Castle. The soups were very good. Just enough to keep us going for the afternoon. We also bought some discount shortbread on our way out (no idea why it was discounted - it was excellent). The place had parking and was very easy to find.

Ordered our food so we wouldn't have to wait, specified everything down to the type of sauce we want.....got home (8 miles away) to cold food and zero sauces. Awful. And not cheap. I've had cheaper kebabs in London.

Good home made food and baking and friendly staff. Don't pick a mart day for a visit as it is full of loud farmers and they come in with their boots covered with all sorts but I suppose it is a market cafe after all. They also do great carry out food. It is well worth a visit.

We had the Sunday carvery buffet today and it was excellent. Huge selection of salads for starters, along with a soup option (which was gluten free), a choice of meats for main- venison, chicken and beef which were all very tender, and a huge choice of desserts. The majority of the desserts were gluten free too (incl chocolate cake, toffee roulade, chocolate mousse and creme brûlée). We would definitely dine here again on a Sunday for lunch. I think the carvery buffet option is only available on the last Sunday of every month but it is worth the wait. The staff are friendly, helpful and happy to explain the ingredients in the dishes.

Visited again at the weekend while passing through and as always tasty food .....and ....unlike the previous reviewer - I rather prefer their tasty fruit crumble which has more crumble than fruit . I make it that way at home .
Keep up the good work .
