Experience the unique taste of the local Icelandic lobster/langoustine, in the charming restaurant Humarhofnin by the harbour in the fishing village Hofn.
We went to Humarhofnin for dinner on Tuesday night without reservation, and surprisingly there were only 5-table guests. The atmosphere was good the waitresses were friendly and polite.
We ordered the highly-recommended food, A Grand mix of whole langoustine and tails and langoustine pizza, for the first time trying. The langoustines were fresh and went perfectly with their dipping sauces (black sauce and pink sauce). And the pizza was alright, the crust was crispy but we didn't really taste the langoustines.
However, with the price we spend in Humarhofnin, we went out without being full.

Kaffihornid - About us Kaffi Hornid brings the best local ingredients to the table right on Hofn's main road sits Kaffi Hornid, where you can find seafood brought straight from sea to the table and a tempting selection of dishes from filling plates of lamb to salads topped with chicken or lobster. Soup is served daily with homemade bread and a salad bar is open for guests who want a small but filling lunch. The menu is large, with sea food and local specialities like lamb and beef featuring prominently, although vegetarians are not left out as a dish of pan-fried chickpea cutlets remains one of the more popular dishes. This restaurant and cafe, with airy Cathedral ceilings and ample Seating for guests has been successful since opening in 1999, alternating as a restaurant, cafe and bar. Kaffi Hornid's owners, husband and wife Ingolfur Einarsson and Kristin Oladottir, have made good use of Hofn's prized local food: the langoustine. Found just off Hofn' s coast and widely celebrated as a town delicacy, the lobster-like creature known as langoustine features prominently in Kaffi Hornid's menu with an entire section devoted to dishes showcasing the succulent shellfish in every price range. The langoustine is distinguished from lobster because it is much smaller and its meat is said to be sweeter. While plentiful in Europe anwaters, langoustines, better known as scampi, are scarcely found in North America and whenever served at restaurants they have been shipped frozen because their delicate meat does not survive the journey. Fortunately for Hofn and Kaffi Hornid the langoustines are freshly caught each day for visitors to taste. Fresh fish, also caught daily, lamb and beef from nearby farms and chicken dishes round out the menu. Pizzas are made to order with a special langoustine pizza for guests who want to try a twist on toppings. Icecream made at Arbaer, a dairy farm a few kilometres from Kaffi Hornid, tantalises visitors with homemade flavours like chocolate licoric.
This is a small restaurant and there was only one very efficient service staff on duty.
Our party of 17 persons did not have to wait too long for our orders to be taken Nor for food to come
The menu has a whole section for Langoustine and I tried the Langoustine pizza
My Friend tried the Reindeer burger and he said it did not taste gamey and was pleasant.

Great little cafe where you can grab a drink or bite to eat before or after visiting Vestrahorn Mountain and/or the Viking Village. Very nice lady who works in the cafe who makes you feel very welcome indeed. Highly recommend you visit if you go to Stokksness.

Open all year round. Pakkhus Restaurant is located by the harbour of Höfn. The menu offers variety of local food from the surrounding environment like lamb, fish, lobster (langoustine) and many other choices.
When visiting the lobster capital of Iceland, one must get some Icelandic lobster (langoustines). And what better place to get them than Pakkhus Restaurant. The restaurant used to be an old shipping warehouse I believe and there are still stamps on the walls from when it was used for such means. The food is fresh and locally caught/sourced. There were many great options on the menu from the lamb to seafood. However I opted for the langoustine tails. I was surprised at how many langoustine tails arrived on the plate. They were sweet and delicious. I left very pleased.
The restaurant does not take Reservations, but there is plenty of Seating in this 2 story building. The first floor is a waiting area with a bar. If you find that you do have to wait for a table just remember you will not be disappointed.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had their breakfast and also ordered their a la cart menu. They had veggie patties which were good. They also had cauliflower soup and delicious mushroom soup depending on what night you were there. I ordered their langoustines and was not disappointed. My husband had their meatballs and said it was good. Definitely one of the better places to eat at.

Nyhofn Nordic Bistro is located by the harbor in the first family house built in the small fishing village Hofn in 1897 by the merchant Otto Tulinius. Nyhofn Restaurant offers local seafood dishes, lamb, vegan dishes and various small dishes and desserts. Fully licenced.
We dined here after a long day's driving. The menu is not extensive but features local seafood and lamb. The quality of the ingredients was excellent and the servings were generous without being too big. Ee shared the langoustine pizza (excellent!) then had the sole and the lamb (both very good). No room for desserts! Service was very good, and the restaurant has a nice ambiance.

Heimahumar is a lobster-themed food truck, positioned by the Glacier Lagoon on the south-east cost of Iceland. What's more hipster than lobster when hunger strikes? Also indulge in our other scrumptious menu items such as hot dog!
Their lobster roll is literally the best roll I've ever ate. If you have one stop to do in your way around Iceland, it must be there. Enormous pieces of lobster mixed with an homemade mix of grilled pepper and onions. It's simply delicious!Dear mr. Simon! Thank you for stopping by and giving your self time to eat at Heimahumar and thank you so much for your kind words :) Welcome back if you´ll come again to Iceland.

Friendly service, wife had lobster salad which must have been delicious as I didn’t get a chance to try it! I had great fish and chips, the haddock was beautifully battered and so very fresh.
