The Colgate Inn offers fine American cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere. No matter what you are in the mood for, the Colgate Inn has the atmosphere and fare to suit.
Have gone there for many years. It's a beautiful place, nice bar room with a very inviting fireplace. The biggest complaint, and I have heard it from many other people over the years, is the service. The food is good, sometimes average but mostly good. Breakfast is very good but pancakes or eggs should not take 20-30 minutes to get, especially when there are only a few tables there. The overall service issue has been one they have had for years but is never dealt with.

Visiting Colgate University my wife and I browsed our way through downtown Hamilton and stumbled onto Maxwells. A thoroughly enjoyable experience… visually interesting and a wonderful taste and service experience. The interior is set up as an old-fashioned ice-cream shop with the addition of a full wall of assorted chocolates, truffles and assorted candies. The kind of establishment where I joke to my wife that I can put on 2 full pounds just breathing the air while she agonizes over her choices and decisions.
A wall chalk board displayed a wide range of inventively tempting “Premiun Sundaes”, Shakes, Smoothies, Fizzes etc… as well as good selection various sized of cones and bowls of various ice cream flavors and twenty-plus toppings. My wife eventually settled on a “small” Turtle Sundae ($5.50)…. vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, caramel, pecans, whipped cream and a pecan caramel patty. (Small in quotes because this was a seriously larger creation; possibly college students can handle the “large” ($6.50) version.)
Knowing from experience that I would later finish off the remainder of my wife’s sundae I opted for a strong cup of coffee to prep me for the next four hours on the road. Maxwells features fojo beans roasted in Norwich NY, with a menu of twelve different roasts and beans sourced from Central & South America, East Africa and Indonesia. Each cup of coffee is hand-pressed!!! The result was a truly memorable coffee experience.
Before we left my wife spent another fifteen minutes buying a selection of chocolates as gifts to various friends (and a pound or so for ourselves.)
Helpful, patient, friendly service throughout. Very reasonable prices.
Recommendation…. When in Hamilton be sure to stop in.

Nothing out of the usual with this DD. Friendly staff, with two outdoor picnic tables. Attached Subway restaurant, drive thru, and parking lot.

Flour and Salt Bakery is a bakery/cafe right in the heart of Hamilton that serves classic NY style bagel sandwiches as well as homemade, fresh baked goods every day. Sandwiches are great for both breakfast and lunch. We serve local coffee from Peaks and also have many NY state food products for sale in the shop.
My wife and I have eaten several times at Flour and Salt. All I have to say is in the title of this post. My personal favorite. The HAL...Bagel, lox, tomato, onion and capers with a cup of rich local coffee....heavenThe Hal and a cup of coffee is my go to breakfast! Thanks so much for the kind review, and thanks for visiting. We hope to see you again soon!

I ordered a pizza here last week (pepp/sausage). For a small pizzeria, the place was charming and clean and had 'atmosphere'. I liked the nostalgic flavor. Didn't eat here, but will/would some other time. The staff (I think it was the owner) was very friendly...MoreThank You!! We are so glad you enjoyed!!

Stopped in here with the family for a couple of drinks while visiting Hamilton. Good beer selection on draft and the bartender was able to point us in the right direction. Comfortable seats at the bar. Good TV's for watching a game. We did not try the food, so cannot comment on that. Overall an enjoyable experience and I would come back in the future.

No. 10 is a great dining option in Hamilton, NY. The atmosphere is bar/pub like, but clean and welcoming and they often have live music. They have plenty of diverse menu options and consistently good food and drinks. The perfect place for a beer and filling meal in town.

My wife and I really enjoy the food here. For the best value and for the most diversity, try their lunch buffet. If you are a vegetarian (which I'm not) there is a wide selection.
Additionally, the staff is friendly and the service very good. I highly recommend Royal India Grill.
