I've have the privilege of eating here about once a year for a long time. My aunt and uncle are regulars, so they take me every time I visit. The limited menu allows them to do everything to perfection. Tonight was the best meal I've ever had at Doe's. We had tamales and fried shrimp appetizers, both were fantastic. Our steaks were tender on the inside, and crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned. Tonight the fries were mostly crisp, which I love. Their salad is one of my favorite things in this restaurant. My mouth starts to water soon as I walk through the kitchen and see the giant salad bowl full of goodness about to be tossed. This is the kind of place John Grisham writes about. It should be on the bucket list of every foodie on the plante.

Stopped by with friend's for a mid morning treat. Great selection and fast service. The doughnuts were fresh and really really good. Definitely a treat when you are in Greenville and get a sweettooth.

What makes a good experience in a restaurant? Good food? This place has that. Atmosphere? This place has that. Price reasonable? This place has that. Good staff? Seems to have that too. But timing? Not so much. Good start, with the 4 of us ordering some fired pickles. Waitress turned in order and came back for drink order. Moving along got the crunchy pickles (good) and chit chatted while we waited on our orders. 3 catfish platters, with salads, and me with a Chili Slaw Hamburger. Knocked out the pickles and here comes the salads. Perfect timing....Not...because here come the catfish also. Now what to do? Eat the salad and let the catfish get cold? Or go ahead and start on the catfish while its hot? You DONT serve the salad then immediately serve the main course!!! No timing. So only average review...need to work on that.

Locally Owned Neighborhood Restaurant Serving The Mississippi Delta Since 1947.
Had a great dinner a week ago with friends, decided to get me some catfish takeout. Knowing full well I couldnt eat it all (3 big fillets) and I would have some COLD CATFISH to enjoy at a later time. I wanted to take a picture of the salad (house italian), but I was so hungry all I got was the empty container. The other picture of the to-go fillets I waited just a little. And for desert I saved the roll, put some of that honey butter they give you and felt like a full pig ready for a nap.

The tamales were not what was expected, but they were good. You can purchase chips, sodas, chili, fried tamales, and other small items. There is seating outside. The staff was friendly and Hot Tamale Heaven is open during the daytime.

There's not that much in Greenville, but this place was well done and would work anywhere. Pleasant employees, a solid burger and really good fries. Nothing special, just the kind of reliable, good place you want to return to if you live in the area.

I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately that was not the case. Downtown Grille serves Louisiana type fare. However, I live in New Orleans (but Greenville is home) and the food did not meet the mark. I ordered the crawfish Mac & cheese and it was terrible. I had to add salt and pepper to add additional flavor to the cheese sauce. The crawfish were plenty, but their flavor was no-existent. It was gross. I also ordered the hot tamale boudin bites. They were pretty good, but something weird was in one of them and that was a turnoff. I also ordered 2 drinks. They were good, but the bartender went heavy on the ice. I requested light ice on the 2nd and still received a glass full of ice. The other individual ordered the potato crusted salmon. The salmon had no flavor and the cheese grits were basic. I could have made better at home. Overall, I spent $100 for 2 people to eat and there wasn't nothing fantastic about this meal. I won't be returning.

The ambiance here is great! You can sit in the bar area and watch tv, or have a more intimate experience in one of the rooms. The menu has something for everyone..sushi, steaks, Italian, seafood, and Delta favorites like fried catfish. Great for entertaining company, date nights, parties..or just a casual evening.

We were traveling back to Texas from Memphis, TN and decided to take a detour through the Mississippi Delta region...and hit Greenville around lunch time. Sure glad we stopped!
My wife got the Johnny Boy sandwich (pastrami) and I got the Chunk o' Cheese (BLT with pimiento cheese)...both sandwiches were SUPERB, and we split a cup of vegetable beef soup. We could hardly finish it all off! The flavor of our sandwiches was great...and I'd heard that cooks in the MS Delta could really make fabulous pimiento cheese (known as "Delta Caviar"), and this place really gets it right all the way around!
Great service, clean, bright surroundings, easy parking (but parking lot is full at lunchtime, so go early or wait until after 1:00pm), and a nice gift shop inside the place where you can find items to take home to family & friends...like jellies & preserves, pickles, Durkee's Sauce (hard to find out of the Deep South), and a great Tomato Dip Mix (made in Indianola, MS) which was a big hit at home!
Prices are not too out of line, but we certainly felt we got our money's worth on the great food...don't mind paying a bit more for tasty entrees! Next time we come through Greenville, this is a MUST STOP for us!!
