Greencastle is a city in Greencastle Township, Putnam County, Indiana, United States, and the county seat of Putnam County. It was founded in 1821 by Ephraim Dukes on a land grant. Kercheval, a member (during his lifetime) of the Freemason Temple Lodge #47. The city became the county seat of Putnam County. The population was 10,326 at the 2010 census. Almost Home has been in business for more than 25 years on the historic square in downtown Greencastle, Indiana. We feature award-winning homemade desserts, and contemporary American cuisine. We also feature a full service bar, The Swizzle Stick, decorated with more Chicago Cubs memorabilia than you can shake a bat at!
We chose Almost Home as our place to eat after a wedding. The atmosphere is relaxing and it is located in an older building on the square, with exposed brick and painted tin type ceiling. The meals are served with the vegetable of the day, which today was mixed vegetables. When they said that, I'm thinking peas and carrots (yuck). Their mixed vegetables were stir fried broccoli, asparagus, squash, carrots and red & yellow bell pepper. What a nice surprise. We had the New York strip steak and it was all very good. We shared a piece of strawberry pizza for dessert, it was fantastic!

As you first enter you will first notice the incredible smell of freshly baked waffle cones. Every morning fresh ones are made right here in our kitchen. We offer homemade ice cream with wacky, unusual flavors like Peanut Butter and Jelly, Key Lime Pie, Banana Cream Pie, and the most popular flavor the Grand Central Station-a caramel-based ice cream loaded with luscious graham cracker pieces and rich, delectable chocolate chucks. You will want to come often because many of the flavors change frequently. Along with the homemade waffle cones and waffle bowls, sugar cones and cake cones are also available. There is seating inside for around 16 and outside for around 15. Come in often and remedy that screaming craving for homemade ice cream.
Had just eaten at a Scoops in Gulf Shores, AL and not sure if a franchise so decided to check it out after having dinner across the street. Menu choices looked very similar. Hoosier buckeye flavor was really good and would get again. Not sure if that is a standard flavor as they had several interesting flavors and not just the basics. Purchased a medium size (2 scoops) Sunday to share with my husband. Cost $4.25. Employees were very friendly. Inside and outside seating.

Opened in August, 2016, Tap House 24 is becoming the go-to place for great atmosphere, excellent food, and a wide selection of craft beers. Our 24 taps feature many locally brewed Indiana craft beers in constant rotation. You can count on there being something new to try each time you visit. Gastropub food is what we do. Amazing burgers and crave-able small plates, followed by our Knife and Fork chef's take on traditional comfort foods will have your mouth watering and your appetites satisfied. If not, our housemade bread pudding and seasonal desserts will set you right. Tap House 24 offers special events throughout the year and live local music. Be sure to join our Brew Crew for membership perks!
We keep trying Tap House 24 and I think that it is improving. They keep switching up their menus and trying to make changes that appeal to everyone. They seem to be a bit inconsistent with their chef and the product that they put out. We are a small town and this is a beautiful restaurant with great views.

The only thing keeping me from giving this another star is the fact that the burgers are all bun. I got the double and the burger to bun ratio was not too goof. The burgers tasted great but the buns dominated the sandwich. Id recommend at least a triple burger if your wanting some beef in your sandwich. We also got the fries with cheese sauce and tenderloin. The tenderloins wasn't the biggest I've seen but it was also thicker and real meat not the processed stuff. The fries was alright but I wouldn't recommend the cheese very watered down. I also felt the price for the tenderloins was fair however way too high for the double that had very little meat to it. The fries was also a little overpriced.

It is a must stop anytime you are in Greencastle. The must have dish is the turtle sundae. By far the biggest and best turtle sundae anywhere. You can easily share this with someone. Portions are great compared to most ice cream places.

The Putnam Inn- famous for its Broasted Chicken served up fresh since 1972! For three decades, people have enjoyed home-style meals at this family-owned and operated Greencastle eatery with friends and family.
This is a classic sit down restaurant with a variety of options. Great place to take the kids/family.

I was travelling down US 40 as an alternative to I-90, just cruising. And looking for interesting local premium ice cream shops.
The Kwik Freeze is part of a gas station but had food options including several premium ice cream flavors. And one was Spumoni. I'm on an international Spumoni testing regimen so that was super.
I asked for one scoop and the server basically gave me three hard packed ones. Amazing.
So much better than stopping at a franchise chain by the interstate.

Dinner on Mother's Day, I wanted to avoid crowded big restaurants and found Mama Nunz through Google Map. We both had outstanding mostacolli all homemade with perfect garlic bread. So many choices between Italian, Mexican, American it was hard to decide. A long drive for us, yet we're eager to come back for barbeque and maybe calzone to share. Very quiet location with street parking or in back at playground. Easy for us to find.
