Grantown-on-Spey (Scottish Gaelic: Baile nan Granndach) is a town in the Highland Council Area, historically within the county of Moray. It was founded in 1765 as a planned settlement on a low plateau at Freuchie beside the river Spey at the northern edge of the Cairngorm mountains, about 20 miles south east of Inverness (35 miles by road).

We enjoyed dinner on two different nights during our stay at Tigh na Sgaith. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. The duck breast entree was tender with a flavorful sauce, and the seafood platter was amazing, with mussels, salmon, smoked mackerel, pickled herring, salad garnish. First courses included a smoked salmon and prawn dish, and fresh fruit and sorbet in a pineapple basket. There was a good selection of wines in all price ranges. The service was friendly. A very pleasant experience in a beautiful, gracious setting. Not to be missed!

An award winning centre in the heart of Speyside, Attractions include a Gift Shop, Exhibition, Art Gallery, Antiques Shop, Traditional homely food served all day in the Clootie Dumpling Restaurant, Freshly made soups are a favourite and of course Starthspeys largest Garden Centre with a large selection of hardy plants & over 300 different Heathers from which to choose a living part of Scotland to take home with you.
Have driven passed many times as the signs on the main road suggest something over-hyped Scottish Tourist Board-experience. We found it quite different. A small, friendly business (readjusting to the major setback of a destructive fire), with a great outlook. They undersell themselves on their advertising both on the web and locally. Let the world know you cater for gluten-free, diary-free diets for example! Lovely cafe, plants and garden stuff. Best wishes for the rebuilding and we will be back

Haven't visited this restaurant for a long time following a bad experience there. Obviously under new management. Was treated to a superb meal. Very tasty and cooked to perfection. Professional, unpressurised service. Restaurant was full with satisfied customers. Good value for money. Very highly recommended.

It is a coffee shop
We came for a light lunch before moving on to other activities. Our original order ( haddock and chips) became unavailable. Our alternative was a salad which didn't arrive. We waited.....and waited..... Eventually we left... To be fair there was no charge for our cheese scone, tea and ginger beer. Staff seemed totally overwhelmed by the fact that it was Easter week and a lot of visitors around. It's been an okay café before. Let's hope they can get staffing issues sorted.

As it is a favourite of my father-in-law, it was bookedfor his 90th birthday. We had champagne in the library first which was nice but no one came and asked if everything was ok. Muchrach do a very good Sunday lunch with roast beef and lamb always delicious. On this occasion however they ran out of Yorkshire puddings..the waiter informed us that one of the roast beefs would be without a Yorkshire pudding! How hard is it to make sure you have enough?
One of the starters was dropped on the floor, the first bottle of red wine was undrinkable, vegetables missing from plates, no offer of horseradish or mint sauce for the beef and lamb...had to ask for that. Had to ask for drinks. No fresh orange juice! Four cappuccinos arrived after everyone had finished their tea and birthday cake and we were standing up to leave. Waiters, clearing and resetting tables, talking loudly over my father-in-law trying to thank everyone for coming from the States and London.
It is such a shame that the kitchen seems to be let down by the front of house and waiting staff. Their saving grace was that the kitchen had made one of the best birthday cakes ever. This could be a great hotel but on this occasion it seemed that they were more interested in getting their Christmas decorations up.

We have stayed at the Grant Arms many times and greatly enjoy the hotel. Unfortunately we had to cancel our August 2017 residency because of a change in our availability. However we managed to fit in a dinner whilst in the area and it was a novel experience to eat here as a non-resident. Some of the staff were kind enough to remember us and we were very well looked after. Our food was cooked to perfection. It was a shame to have to leave the hotel afterwards rather than retire to our usual room!
As I have reported in reviews of our regular stays at the Grant Arms Hotel, in our opinion the quality of the restaurant has improved significantly over the last few years and our experience on this evening was no different. I recognise the comment of a recent reviewer however, that a small number of junior waiting staff would do well to curb their 'private chat' when serving table, not that we had any such occurrence on this occasion.

The Garth and its associate hotel the Cairngorm, Aviemore, always produce good food at an affordable price. The staff are polite, efficient and friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming for individuals, families and larger groups. Babies and young children are well catered for.
The bedrooms are comfortable and clean.
Nothing is too much trouble. Well stocked bar and whiskey galore!
Highly recommended at any time of the day.

We stopped in for breakfast when passing through Grantown. The breakfast roll was a bit dry but the full breakfast was reasonably good, service was cheerful and we thought it was a comfortable place to stop before continuing on. Coffee was good, prices are affordable...MoreMany thanks for taking the time and effort to give us a positive review. We have a hard working team in Grantown and they will appreciate your feedback.

This bar/restaurant haz a lovely feel about it. There is a small bar with an open fire. Speciality food..pies. A variety of pies to choose from including vegetarian fillings. The supplier provides the uncooked pies and the bar cook them. We were told exactly how long we would need to wait before we could eaf right from the start. All pies served with chips anx and cost about £7.25ish. Beans and gravy cost extra. Tbe pies are to die for.
Great pies, loved the mushy peas. Unpretentious food with good quality, double- fried crisps, just what we needed after a long day travelling. Owners were very nice, had great recommendations for us whiskey newbees. What initially comes across as rough bar talk is just the way people here have a direct attitude and a prickly sense of humour. Loved it, felt very welcome! The interior decor is very unique and quirky too. Not your average pub and not for you if you are looking for a restaurant dining experience. For us it was exactly riggt
