This place holds a special place in my heart. Since I was a small child I have been eating their amazing rasberry filled jelly doughnuts! I love them! They are the best I've found! And the prices are very good too!

Popped in to get a couple of Joes one Saturday morning and also the next day before leaving town. Service was quick and servers pleasant. The place was full of folks enjoying the lounges and tables for chatting doing computers, etc. Definitely was a socials center for the locals.

The restaurant is located in the Timberlake Hotel, but it exceeds the typical hotel restaurant. The atmosphere is a little dark, no windows and the bar is located a short distance away. Typical dairy queen menu delivered by extra friendly and happy employees. Very busy place.. however we have learned the hard way to not go to the places that are not busy.

This little restaurant has a fairly limited menu, but everything is delicious and homemade. The breakfast sandwich of egg, cheese and bacon or sausage on a croissant or English muffin is second to none. There are daily lunch specials along with salads, sandwiches and quiche. Pies and cakes are made daily and are a perfect ending to lunch. After lunch, pie and coffee are served until late afternoon. Don't be put off by the exterior (a closed service station) - the food inside is worth your stopping.

I'd go here just for the gelato! I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for inexpensive ice cream (just over 4$ for a cup or cone) but they have a great selection of flavors, always including at least one dairy-free option, and it's delicious! They have a full lunch/breakfast menu with something for everyone, including wonderful sandwiches (love the Italian cream cheese panini) and a full menu of coffee shop style drinks, a case of house made baked goods (highly recommend the tiramisu and nut bars)---and even lasagna. They use great ingredients, organic and locally sourced when possible, and I appreciate the fact that I'm eating healthy when I go here. The decor is bright and eclectic, with some fun broken China mosaics throughout the place, and it's located conveniently right on Highway 2 (there's parking around the back of the building!). Altogether, if you're looking for a non-chain restaurant that serves unique, healthy, local food for breakfast, lunch or a coffee/snack break, this is by far the best place in town to get it.

Pasties Plus makes one thing pasties which is a meat pie only found in mining communities. The pasties are excellent, best I've found in Minnesota.
We stopped by because of their high rating on Trip Advisor. Small location but there was a table there you could dine in. While we waited for our order to come out fresh, we enjoyed talking with the staff and they where very knowledgeable about pasties and where they originally came from, etc. Most people stop in and pick up half bakes to take home and finish baking. They also had frozen ones to buy.

Homemade sauce with secret spices. Dough that's made fresh every morning. Specialty meats and real mozzarella cheese. The sounds of crisp crust being cut into perfectly sized squares. That's what you'll find in the kitchen at Sammy's Pizza in Grand Rapids. Our menu features award-winning pizzas, pastas, hot appetizers, wings, sub sandwiches, burgers, soups and salads. We also offer a daily all-you-can-eat lunch buffet.
Pizza buffet wasn't available when we visited. We ordered pizza because we heard so much good but it turned out very average. Actually we didn't like the crust. Seating is a little tight but we had a good booth so no problem. Server was nice but busy. Food was served in typical time and atmosphere was o.k..

There is a reason Dottie's parking lot is always packed - it's local favorite! But arrive early since Dottie's closes about 3pm expect on special fish fry days. Dottie's cooks know what there are doing; even humble toast is raised to a high level and served with friendly good humor and cheer.
