Nebraska Barn & Grill offers a dining room, a private dining area and a separate bar area. You can choose what area you would like to sit in...
Family of six were seated immediately on the night prior to the complete solar eclipse. Service was very good, nice woman with a great personality. Ribs were very dry, NY Strip steaks were OK, another steak was very good and the fried chicken was poor. One kid said the burger was very good.
Next door to our hotel, soir was easy to get there.
Prices are good.
They have tried to add a little local culture to the place.

They have an amazing selection of different types of espresso, latte, flavored coffee hot and cold as well as non-coffee drinks. One of my favorites is the vanilla chai tea. Really delicious. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The drive through is very convenient. Just of Interstate 80, well worth the trip.

Asked the fellow at the Post Office for a lunch recommendation, "where the locals go". His reply, "It's Thursday, pan-fried chicken at the doughnut shop." The place was packed, shared a table with some locals, and enjoyed a simply delicious home-cooked lunch. Nothing fancy, mind you. (Stryofoam plates.) The special included salad bar, desert and drink, all for seven bucks. We met the whole family, Mom makes the pies (outstanding). Open for breakfast and lunch.

Dropped into Gothenburg about 11:30 a.m. looking for breakfast-for-lunch; the sign at Deb's Diner promised breakfast all day (OK, they close at 2 p.m., but you get the idea).
I guess they go home at two, because they apparently don't stay after hours mopping the floor. And be sure to visit the restroom in the very back -- a trip through the kitchen is eye-opening. Still, the place hasn't yet killed its obvious steady customers -- the waitress/counterperson (Deb?) calls them all by name, and there were lots of them on a Wednesday noon -- but we weren't going near the salad bar, just the same. Ham, eggs, hash browns, and toast from homemade bread, plus coffee, and we were very happy. Just what we wanted. Relatively low price, too.
The decor is anti-decor. Furniture from many different estate sales or found on the roadside, no matching plates, etc. -- my coffee mug said "Season's Greetings" -- and the walls are covered with maps and hundreds (thousands?) of slips of paper from people who've eaten at Deb's Diner. The waitress said they represented people from every continent except Antarctica. Guess not many penguins travels through Gothenburg.

Runza restaurants are being developed primarily in Nebraska, but based on our experience this chain will grow. The interior was immaculate with plenty of room including a sunny "enclosed porch." The original Runza sandwich is a taste treat. There are several varieties. The burgers were huge and the price was right.

I ate Chinese food which was very good. My husband got burger and fries, he said they weren't that great. Lisa is very sweet though.

We were greeted at the door by a young waitress with a white dime-sized ring dangling from her nose...kinda catches your attention as you think about the possibility of her serving your food. I don't remember much about what she looked like, I couldn't get past the nose ring. She took our order timely and courteously. We ordered meat lovers, but the beef was crispy/crunchy, had been way over cooked. Waitress didn't come back to refill the drinks, we had to take our glasses to front counter and request them. Not the best of experiences or meals. Have eaten there in the past when circumstances were much better than this.

We ordered food to go. Seemed like a mix of old fashioned Mexican/ California restaurant and real Mexico. Tasty salsa with some heat and freshly made chips. Corn tortillas with asada had good flavor. Navajo tostada was on fry bread with nicely flavored ground beef and tostada toppings.
We were very happy with the whole experience. 3 tacos, the tostada, chips and salsa were $20

Called in here quite a few times when on my road trips through Nebraska, very well run and never had a problem. There are pictures of Pony express riders on the walls and the history. Easy on/off the highway.
