My impression of Goes was that it was not over-endowed with sophisticated dining options and so on our last night in Zeeland, we were delighted to have this tucked away restaurant recommended to us.
We chose 3 dishes each from a set menu that could have extended to 7 courses if our appetites had allowed, including slow cooked black-legged chicken and turbot. Each one was thoughtfully conceived, very well presented and executed impeccably. There were absolutely no disappointments but a number of high points not least the 5 tiny desserts, each of which was a delight in its own right. The service was extremely friendly and delivered with a typically Dutch combination of informality and competence. The dining room was imaginatively decorated but in an under-stated fashion that perfectly complemented the food.
English is not readily and often only reluctantly spoken in this part of Holland but the staff were all too willing to dredge up obscure vocabulary from the depths of their memories in an effort to explain the composition of the dishes. As this is Holland, an English visitor must remember not to regard the meal as let down by the obligatory accompaniment of French fries. Our instinctive association with vulgar foods such as hamburgers or battered cod simply doesn't resonate here and the fact that the fries are home made and double-fried means care has been lavished even on this seemingly modest and otherwise incongruous side dish.

We have lived in Goes for a couple of years now and this is one of the few restaurants in the neighbourhood we keep on visiting. Fantastic, honest food and constant quality. No nonsense, but still subtle. Good and straightforward service. Always good fish and some vegetarian options as well. According to my partner, the meat dishes are also great.

At this place, you get good value for money. Simple but tasty dishes at low prices.
It is not open until very late. It is called 'the lunch cafe', which is an indication that they focus on lunch type dishes.
The lunch plate of eggs with loads of mushrooms is very nice.

This small (40 seat) restaurant in Goes has the best combination of atmosphere, menu plan and quality of food. The menu is a comprehensive list of starters, mains and Deserts with each dish costing the same. You order however many you wish and pay the unit cost x number of dishes you have. Each dish is of the very finest quality and presentation, small portion packed with flavour and most importantly, supported by exquisite sauces.
The restaurant, owned by a local butcher and very ably supported by first class management and a brilliant chef.
The experience allows you to have a wide variety of flavours while not going away feeling over full.
Please go if you read this review. A truly small, top quality establishment that deserves support and is worth making that extra effort to visit.

Like i mentioned in other critics before it is my believe that the Netherlands is a country that is underestimated on culinary level and deserves a place at the top of the world.
Tonight this restaurant gave me this confirmation again . I opted for a 8 course tasting menu and because i love to taste i asked for 2 extra courses from the carte with they did with pleasure and the exra i paid was very correct . Because i was alone i also asked to adapt the wines with the courses so i could drive safe home and the Somelier did this very well. Each course i tasted a different wine interesting to discover less more kown wines bud the perfect match with te menu and this was very educating for me.
The maitre D O is Mr Bono that seems the read the wishes of the dining guests individual
and besides rocking around the globe he will look for your comfort during your dining experience. The same will happen with the lady of the house the chef s wife who will welcome you at the beginning and with who you will discuss your culinary desires .
About the cuisine of the house well for me it was the reinvention of the classic cuisine but with a modern approach and the individual taste of the chef and that is the strong part of each dish the taste you will discover.
2 stars in my believe is modest for this level.
If you like good food good service well the region Zeeland in the Netherlands is a recommendation i like to share and you will have it in this place as also the restaurant The Kromme Watergang not far away. You will have Two cuisines different styles but top level and great dining experience !!!!

Had a 5 course sitting here last week and was really impressed. The food was excellent quality and cooked in an original and innovative way. The wines to accompany were really well matched and the service was spot on.

We both took oysters as a starter and received 6 flat ones each. which tasted phenomenal.
Afterwards we got served with 'fruits de mer" (half a lobster, 2 gamba's, 2 oysters and a lot of grey shrimps).
Served with a nice bottle of French rosé wine and a sublime service made it all a perfect evening.

We were a large party and the staff could not do enough to ensure that our dining experience was excellent. The food was presented beautifully and quickly, the children were catered for with no hesitation. We had a lovely evening and experience on our first night in Goes.

We dropped in just to buy one bread for evening and ended up buying full plastic bag. They offer big variety of all kind of bred. Everything very fresh. But not only bred. Also variety of tasty pastry is great and delicious. We did not expect it in small Zeeland city. If you are around, worth to pay a visit!

We visited Mieliefste 2 weeks ago for dinner. We started with super creative nibbles, followed by an amazing 4 course dinner with matching wines. Super fresh seafood and fish - langoustine, mackerel, trout. Very tender pig cheeks. Flavours were very fresh - ideal for a warm summer evening. Presentation out of this world. The sommelier had done a really nice job matching wine to each course. Service was professional and competent. We had a lovely evening. We left very satisifed with the whole experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant and I wish them all the success.
