Gävle [ˈjɛːvlɛ] is a city in Sweden, the seat of Gävle Municipality and the capital of Gävleborg County. It had 99,576 inhabitants in September 2016, which makes it the 13th most populated city in Sweden. It is the oldest city in the historical Norrland (Sweden's Northern Lands), having received its charter in 1446 from Christopher of Bavaria. However, Gävle is far nearer the greater Stockholm region than it is to the other major settlements in Norrland.

If you look for fancy, contemporary food, boy, you're in the wrong place. If you - on the other hand - are out for some Super Great Steaks, Ribs or so, well, then look no further. The Food is Super, the ambience authentic and the Service amonst the best - in the cosy way. I highly recommend this gem.

A traditional Brasseri meny
I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a great brunch. There is so many different types of breakfast and lunch foods - you'll leave full! It's also great because you can order a mimosa at the bar to add to the experience. Good service and a good atmosphere!

Wow! The food here was absolutely fantastic.
The bread variety that was brought to the table was fresh and delicious. A nice complimentary starter.
We had the crispy pork (Broiled pork belly) with pureed potatoes and vegetables, Moules Frites (mussels) in a mouth-watering light cream sauce served with chips, filet of beef with au gratin potatoes, and turbot (fish) also with au gratin potatoes.
Everything was cooked to perfection, and each bite was filled with flavor. The crispy pork was one of the Top 10 things I have ever had in my life.
We didn't have Reservations on Saturday night so we couldn't sit inside, but we were able to eat outside under the awning with the heaters turned on. Our waiter could have been friendlier but he was okay.
I see why this is one of, if not THE, best restaurants in Gavle. It is expensive, but absolutely worth it if you are looking for an amazing meal.
We were dressed somewhat casually, and it was fine. As the evening went on people were more dressed up as they came in.

A restaurant that signals food pleasure. The small shop before restaurants shows that you take their ingredients seriously, several locally produced delicacies.Missed lunch with a few minutes, but a small menu is available for afternoon visitors.Beautiful presentation and fresh vegetables make the meal excellent.Art galleries and skincare items for sale in nearby buildings will be a nice stop after the meal.

A Monday evening and most of town was closed but happily for us not Helt Enkelt. Three choices in a vegetarian section on the menu and all delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Roast cauliflower with hummus; asparagus tortellini with sage butter and almonds; haloumi burger with sweet potato chips. Portions seemed small but were rich and filling. with Deserts we paid 280sek a head. Worth it!

The service was okey, we had reserved a table but when we came we had to wait another 10-15 minutes for it to get ready. No big deal really but that evening it felt annoying.
The food was delicious including the starters and desert. I think it's a nice restaurant but very loudly though there is no music playing in the background.
I would visit it again anyways!

Experience a unique setting on the Grands Veranda with panoramic windows overlooking the Rantakatu and Gavlean. The restaurant serves classic food with a modern twist. The porch also has a bar that becomes a natural gathering place for those who appreciate good service and want to relax with a beer, a glass of wine or an exciting cocktail. Here is played lounge music or live piano. Everything for you to relax and enjoy with your party. Welcome!
Had a meal here with two business colleagues and everything was really good. Food is of excellent quality, well presented and very tasty. I had the cod cheek which is hard to cook well, but was perfect! It's not the cheapest restaurant in town, but if you want cheap, go to McDonalds! The atmosphere was great and the serving staff good (although a little slow noticing you when it got busy). Surroundings are cosy, but elegant...highly recommended.

This nice restaurant is located a bit «off the beaten track», don’t let that stop you from visiting! Me and my partner both had pizza that was pefectly prepared. Thin and crusty with interesting toppings, like lamb and wild boar sausages. Limited winelist with reasonably priced wines. Service very friendly but maybe a little bit slow

A relatively new restaurant that focuses on organic, ecological and locally produced food. But they do it with a feel for food, for flavour and presentation. Everything I have tried there has been very tasty, from the soup at lunch to the three-course meals at dinner. They also concentrate on organic wines, and they have succeeded quite well in finding some good ones to go with the food. They had live music last I was there, a pianist that played just loud enough to hear but did not disturb our conversation. Top 3 in Gävle definitely. Top 2 even!

In 2014, Anders and Camilla took over the restaurant premises and opened the doors to Vinkrogen. Located on a well-known restaurant address in Gävle. They wanted to create the first dedicated wine bar with a dining area. Here is a place for all who love the combination of food & drinks where "sensory" is a keyword. Opening hours are wednesday through saturday from 5:00pm to about 01:00am. Please make a reservation when you visit for the best experience, but it is always okay to just drop-in. The venue consists of a dining room for about 32 seated guests, a wine bar with Seating for 30 guests and a chambre separee adjacent to the dining room for parties up to 22 guests.
On arrival we were shown straight to our table. The waiter spoke excellent English with a charming Australian accent which was understandable after one month in that country. We all ordered the five course taster and the wine to go with it. Amazing food, portions sufficient that we were very satisfied when leaving. This was really a meal to remember.
The wine prices per bottle were very expensive but choosing the wine taster we avoided that cost.
I would warmly recommend this restaurant to friends, couples, business people but not to families with young or even teen children.
Only drawback of an amazing experience was the one wine that we thought was off and undrinkable. The waiter informed us that it was a special type of wine that two people before us had not complained about. To avoid spoiling a wonderful evening we let it go.
If you want a culinary experience I strongly recommend this wonderful place.
