Just to let you know: this brasserie is located half-inside a DIY store. We did not eat or drink anything there, but I think it is good that you know about this before you decide to visit.
We were looking for a place to dine when visiting Gallivare and at first wanted to eat here. The lady at the hotel looked quite puzzled when we asked her about it and we understood when we arrived here why.

Decided to try this place based on recommendation from a local youngster.
Tried the Hark pizza and was pleasantly surprised by the combinations of toppings, but it was difficult to distinguish the unique taste of raider meet.
Service was polite and quick so I would very much like to try their lunchbuffé

We were going to start a 10 day hiking trip in Lapland, so we wanted a good meal before heading out with only freeze dried food. The place looked ok during the day, but when we came in at 18.30 it was empty. The pizzas were greasy, the salad was dull and the place was totally without atmosphere. The only good thing was that it was not expensive. I would not go there anymore. Go to the thai neighbors 50meters further down the road.

Gallivare is not overflowing with restaurants but as a semi regular visitor to this town I can recommend this Arctic Circle outpost for Thai cuisine.
It has recently undergone somewhat of a redecoration that has certain improved the ambience although it still isn't fine dining by any stretch.
However the food always tastes amazing, with good portion sizes and at prices that are reasonable.
Excellent choice of all your traditional Thai dishes with menus in both Swedish and English available.
Top tip - check opening hours or dine early as I found during the week table service finishes at 8:30pm with take out only available after then.

This is a great restaurant, for us it was the best place in Gallivare. It is 20-30minutes walk from town center, but you can follow the pedestrian tracks for most of the time, so it is quite pleasant. The restaurant is located at the bottom of Dundret, the hill that dominates Gallivare.
The dining room has great views towards the hill and you can see the sunset from almost all tables. The place has a open kitchen which is also pleasant and entertaining. If the weather permits, there is a Terrace with a view.
The food is delicious: we had a local starter with 'roe', then a good piece of steak finished off with the chocolate fondant and the Surprise Icecream. Everything tasted good and pure, no fuss, just the ingredients as they are. The staff was friendly (but a bit distant, but that is typical swedish we think) and helpfull and we had a great beer and a good glass of wine with our food.
Some days they also serve lunch, but check the internet or phone them before you set out.
When we were there, the place was quiet busy with locals, which is a good sign we think.
If you walk back and it is dark, maybe take a flashlight for the first part of the walk :-).

Good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere and hey tonight live music and open until 1 am! Also it has Swedish real ale ( bulldog) bottled. The supposed flagship venue in Gallivare, the Quality hotel Lapland has nothing like this range, despite the hotel's glitz. If like me, you are a tourist stuck in Gallivare without a car for some days, then check it out!!

We had dinner in this restaurant and that was a great experience. The menu offers 3-course dishes and you can choose between several different types of food including some local ones. As main dish I chose the reindeer filet and that is highly recommended. Tender and delicious, just what I like. They also have burgers, steaks and fish if you prefer that instead. The atmosphere was nice. A big TV screen made it possible to watch the European Soccer Cup for those interested. It did also not disturb those not interested.

We had lunch at Peking Palace on a Sunday when most places in this town are closed. We ordered duck shezhuan that was a little bit less spicy than what we had anticipated. There was a jar of sambal oelek handy at the table though.
Highly recommended.

We often buy food from this pizzeria. We are pleased with the food and the personal is kind so nothing to complain.
