Had a wonderful evening at this delightful little restaurant in the hills of Chianti. The food was excellent, especially the boar was fantastic as was the fillet of steak. The atmosphere was great with lovely staff. Highly recommend this to all Tuscan travellers

A lovely meal in this terrific restaurant. Pastas were solid though not the best we had. Excellent secondos including lamb, duck, and boar. The only negative was disappointing home-baked bread- doughy and chewy compared with the great breads we got everywhere else in Italy.

We loved this little restaurant and we were delighted with the meal. It was worth the drive-sometimes you never think you're going to find the place your'e looking for in Italy The ambiance is just what you would expect of a family restaurant in Italy. You've got to try it.

Sometimes the best meals are the unexpected ones. After a late return to our hotel, Le Fontanelle, we asked the hotel for a nearby suggestion. The hotel said, almost apologetically, had this place had "simple" food which was fine with us. Who know that "simple" food would be the best Florentine T-bone ever, truffle gnocchi served in a Parmesan basket, and delicious sautéed spinach. The place is so charming and romantic as well (at the top of a mountain in a quiet village) and the bottle of excellent local wine was a mere 20 Euros. It was the least expensive meal of the trip and by far the best. The chef served the steak himself on a hot stone and we had leftovers the next day as that steak could feed 4.

We had dinner here after a busy day at the outlets. Our host Arnaldo was outstanding. As we arrived early he entertained us with a brief istory of the 18th century cellar, suggested some outstanding wines and menu combinations.. The chef personally oversaw our meal...MoreThanks for your fantastic review, we are happy to have met you and I hope to see you soon. Francesco and Araldo

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Tuscany, we found it on our last visit here and had to return, we really enjoyed it again.
San Sano is a bit off the main road but it is a beautiful little village, the restaurant is at the centre.
This is not fine dining but good wholesome Tuscan family dining. Plenty of game and braised meats but the staple pasta dishes and Fiorentina steaks are also good. The presentation of the dishes can be a little clumsy but the flavours are outstanding. They also have a very good and well priced wine list.
The overall experience here is great, highly recommend.

Modern twist on classic dishes—delicious and beautifully presented.
Excellent romantic view especially during sunset. One of our top restaurants in Italy. Beware - on Friday, the pizzeria downstairs has karaoke after sunset on their outdoor patio and you can definitely hear it on Le Contrade's patio that overlooks the Mountains.

Restaurant at the vineyards. Good if you're visiting for a wine tour before and stay for a sunset dinner -- decent view over the hillside
Restaurant is pretty upscale. They accommodate our request for a quick little dinner instead of sitting through the full multi-course. One modest annoyance was that they wouldn't accommodate any requested changes to the dishes
We had the steak florentine. Was pretty good. We had their vineyard's wine -- was OK, but they charged for corkage
I would recommend the place overall, but not a "must go to" if you have limited time

Stopped by Casanuova di Ama for the wine tasting while traveling with family recently. What a great experience! The owners were so wonderful and welcoming, serving delicious bread with olive oil and generous wine servings. It was extremely well-priced for what you got, and it was a relaxing afternoon with gorgeous views. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Tuscany and one I would certainly recommend to anyone. Bonus: the friendly dog Kesh!

The restaurant's atmosphere is warm and welcoming, while the surrounding garden enhances the overall mood with a touch of romance. During the hotter months meals are served outdoors under a bower of climbing roses and wisteria. Here the gourmet can savour the true aroma and flavour of the Chianti region.
We first went here eleven years ago on the night before our son's wedding, this was also where he had proposed to his girlfriend. We went again last week, this time with our son and daughter in law, her parents and our two grandchildren, What a superb evening - sitting outside under a pergola covered with vines, overlooking the most spectacular Mountains and valley, a warm, starlit night. Dinner was delicious - we had so many lovely things but for me the stuffed courgette flowers were the best. Ricardo, about to become a father for the first time, was attentive and entertaining , adding to the wonderful atmosphere. This is a special place, appealing to couples and families alike, with well spaced tables and a relaxed atmosphere. I just wish we could go more frequently!
