Frostburg is a city in Allegany County, Maryland, United States, and is at the head of the Georges Creek Valley. It is part of the Cumberland, MD-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 9,002 at the 2010 census. Located 8 miles (13 km) west of Cumberland, the town is one of the first cities on the "National Road", US 40, and the western terminus of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Since 1973, the city has been served by what is now Interstate 68.

We ordered prime ribs and it is so tender and tasty!
Cornbread were delicious as well as bake beans! Our server, Jess was great!

My wife and I were traveling from Virginia to Ohio and happened to be passing through the Cumberland/Frostburg area around lunch time. As hunger set in I researched the various eateries and found Mountain City Coffeehouse and Creamery in Frostburg. We were inclined to stop in one of the two areas since I'm originally from there. This coffeehouse wasn't too far from the interstate, the menu looked inviting, and I was curious to see how Frostburg was doing. I was pleased to see some growth--a new library just across from the coffeehouse, some new businesses, and students from the in-town university--in the town. My wife and I were both very pleased by the friendly, helpful service that greeted us upon arrival at the coffeehouse. We were also very happy with the grilled panini sandwiches that we ordered. They were very tasty, rich, and hot with a perfectly grilled golden bread. The latte I had, although not the best I've ever had, was good. The coffeehouse's quaintness derives from its being housed in what appears to be an old church. I was enheartened to see Frostburg doing better than I observed several years ago; we were both encouraged by the very enjoyable lunch that carried us through to our destination in Ohio. This is a great place to catch a wonderful lunch.

My husband and I wanted to try Shift's cinnamon bun so we got it for take out. It is definitely huge and slathered with a large amount of thick cream cheese type frosting. The consistency of the bun is more like a dense cake than a yeasty light roll/bread so it was different than what I was expecting. The restaurant is super cute and the breakfasts that I saw looked really good.

I've heard about the Hen House for years, and our friends have been going back there since their college days in Frostburg.
Well worth the turnoff (Finzel exit) from I-68, and a lovely drive on the old National Pike. Keep driving on that country road afterwards, it's just so scenic and mellow.
Yes, all the fried food is delicious. If I've stayed away from fried food all year, this is the place where I will make an exception. For starters, the Onion Rings are tops. All the seafood, the chicken, are lightly battered and not greasy. They know how to do it to perfection. Order it all.
We took our dessert home, because we were just filled to bursting. But we just couldn't pass is up and splurged on that later without any guilt.
Yes, we will come back. Probably take the exit to the Hen House every single time we'll pass by from now on.

I was pleasantly surprised at the inviting decor, great service and quality of food. From the outside Giuseppe's doesn't look like much, but it worth your consideration. There is a very nice and comfortable dining room - no tacky pictures, fountains, etc. If you prefer to sit at the bar, there is an impressive bar well stocked and very inviting.
The service was excellent - attentive without becoming a dinner guest!
Our pasta, chicken, shrimp and salads were all well prepared and presented. This restaurant is completely appropriate for family or business meals. It is also close to the university - just off Main Street. Parking is free on the side of the building so no fiddling with coins and meters.
I will definitely stop in next time I'm in town.

We had been to "Fatboy's" three years ago when our granddaughter entered FSU, now she has graduated and we stopped in again this time for a pizza. It was good and hit the spot when we needed something quick. Bruce

We were Chicagoans passing through. Debbie at the Hampton said, “I’ve not been there but guests say it’s great. Not too many college students. The menu has something for everyone. My side salad was crisp. My wife’s Turkey club was bacon-y turkey-y and club-y. We were offered the choice of hand cut or batter fried hand cut fries. Both good. Not much difference.
Recommendation: The seafood Grilled Cheese. One of the best “sandwiches” I’ve ever had. Texas toast with crabmeat (and shrimp?). A heap of fries with a ladle of crab bisque. Huge portion. Creamy crabby deliciousness.
