Every time I am anywhere near McHenry, I head for the Riverside Bake Shop. I love their cinnamon raisin bread (they'll slice it for you) brownies, and butter cookies. But I'll also load up on their donuts, apple bread, and hamburger buns. They have daily specials, their prices are extremely reasonable, and there's street parking. It's a small place and crowded on weekend mornings. So delicious...

Not much to look at outside nor inside. Food was great! I had the Chicken wrap with fries and hubby had the AUCE Fish Fry-both were fresh, hot and very tasty. We will absolutely come back.

It's a above average D.D. Excellent staff, typical D.D. food. I'm very glad to live right down the street from this Dunkin Donuts.

The staff were very welcoming and appeared to enjoy their job. There were 10 of us for breakfast. Food was plentiful and delicious. We also picked up banana cream pie to go. To die for?

I remember the glory days, when Dog 'n Suds had over 600 locations in 38 states and Canada and was opening an average of 15 new restaurants each month. Then they did something crazy. They changed the recipe of what had been hailed as "the world's creamiest root beer" with a different concentrate that wasn't accepted by longtime Dog 'n Suds operators or customers. Before the fallout, the franchise was so popular that I recall eating at a Dog 'n Suds on Route 49 in Cissna Park, Illinois, south of Kankakee. Cissna Park? Today, there are only four in Illinois and only 15 in seven Midwest states. My wife and I have been to three of the locations in Illinois, including the one at 517 Washington Street in Ingleside. It hasn't changed from the 1950s. They still employ car hops and produce delicious hot dogs and serve creamy root beer in frosted glass mugs. Yes, it's the original brew, the real thing, the authentic root beer that separated Dog 'n Suds from its competitors. The coney dogs are good, too. Eating at a drive-in that specializes in hot dogs and root beer that is delivered to your car by pretty girls is a throwback to the 1950s and 1960s when drive-in restaurants and movies were as popular as chocolate ice cream. Now they are as rare as...well, as rare as Dog 'n Suds.

Stop there on the way home from work to pick up a little treat. Always fresh and filling. Donuts are home made and nice and heavy. Fresh breads as well as home made rye with or without seeds Coffee cakes nutty or fruity have a good thick filling with great toppings. Cookies, rolls, paczki all excellent. At times has homemade soups and home made pierogi. Great coffee. Stop there before the train ride to downtown.(right across from the Fox Lake Metra Station. Owner Felicia always friendly and helpful. Just 1 block east of rt.12 at the lite.

We have been dining at Fanells's for decades. The restaurant itself has been a staple in Lake County for great Pizza as long as many of the "oldsters" can remember. Outward appearances are somewhat deceiving. The parking lots remains gravel and parking is wherever your car will fit. Inside a much needed remodeling has progressed throughout the dining room and bar area. Overall the interior is inviting, clean and temperature is well controlled. The most recent addition of "Gaming Machines" has mixed reviews from this old timer. Depending on the crowd using the machines, the noise level can get very high from just a few players.
Service is very, very good. Servers and bar staff are friendly, attentive and can explain any item on the menu. Dining at the bar, within the bar at several high top tables is just as acceptable as the dining room. Seats are limited in the bar so be prepared to use the dining area as a backup.
The bar has a variety of beer on tap and in bottles. The tap beer changes throughout the seasons offering a good variety for mostl beer tastes. My only caution is on those very hot summer days the beer is not as cold as one would expect.
The pizza is the best we have tried anywhere. I strongly suggest eating in to properly evaluate this great pizza. We have tried the thin, thick and stuffed. The thin and thick pizzas are always great choices. The stuffed is great but not as consistent as its counterparts. At times the stuffed can be very doughy with limited sauce and cheese throughout the pizza. Take outs are typically good and overall through the years have resulted in good at home dinners. On that rare occasion we have received take outs / deliveries in which items were forgotten or food was not up to par. These have been rare over the years and we continue to have our dinners delivered regularly.
Other than pizza we have found many to their appetizers to be flavorful and well cooked. Fried pickles have been recently added and are a must try in my opinion. You cannot go wrong with the hamburgers, pasta dishes or ribs. As some have noted the portions have decreased, assuming due to increased costs of food, but still an appropriate portion for most diners.
Overall this is a must try for a casual family pizza dinner.

We tried this place first at a catered party...we grabbed our bread and went on to what we thought was your average everyday Italian beef...and it was NOT! It's "Roost Beef"!! Oh my goodness...something like an Italian beef but yet so much different! Mmm...super tender with more of a gravy on it rather than an au jus! Ugh...so good!
Since then we have ordered carry-out and that sandwich was just as amazing!! Finally was able to see a menu of theirs and I can say that I am excited to order from here again!! The menu is pretty extensive and I look forward to sampling every item!!
A must if your in the area!!

This location is closest to my home. We walked in and 3 female workers were just sitting there on their phones. One got up to take our order, the other two remained on their phones. We ordered two blizzards, nothing hard. They made them really fast, slid them to us on the counter and went back on their phones. Our blizzards weren't even completely mixed and there was no flipping the blizzard upside down. No one smiled or anything. I honestly drive twice as far to the Round Lake location because their service is so great and staff is so friendly.

There is nothing special about this Starbucks. It is what you would expect from them. Nothing better nothing worse.
