Fortrose (Scottish Gaelic: A' Chananaich, Scots: Chainry) is a town and former burgh in the Scottish Highlands. It is on the Moray Firth, about 6 miles (9.7 km) north-east of Inverness. The town is known for its ruined 13th century cathedral, and as the home of the Brahan Seer. In the Middle Ages it was the seat of the bishopric of Ross. The Cathedral was largely demolished in the mid-seventeenth century by Oliver Cromwell to provide building materials for a citadel at Inverness. The vaulted south aisle, with bell-tower, and a detached chapter house (used as the tollbooth of Fortrose after the Reformation) remain. These fragments, though modest in scale, display considerable architectural refinement, and are in the care of Historic Scotland (no entrance charge). The burgh is a popular location for trying to spot bottlenose dolphins (see Chanonry Point) in the Moray Firth.

Went in on Saturday night very busy alot of people waiting the lad who was serving took my order quickly he told me it would be 20min or so ,
A few People who came in after me ordered and paid for there order got there orders before the people who were Seating or standing and me , some people have no manners in jumping the queue but the staff doing there best, whoever owns the place needs to introduce some kind of number system when you place your order
I thought the fish abit oily but still very tasty
I hope they can sort out there peak time problem

We were recommended Sutor Creek by our accommodation hosts. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the pizzas we ordered were really good. We couldn't finish them but were able to take them away for lunch the next day! The staff, especially the young man serving, were all very friendly. We'd highly recommend eating here.

We popped in to see what the evening meal menu was. Although the restaurant was fully booked, they went out of their way to fit us in.
Service was first class, and the food was excellent.
It is clear why you are better booking, this place is very popular.
Many thanks for an excellent meal.

From the outside the building looks old and forgotten. Once inside you are greeted with an awful interior design. The restaurant tries to looks like the house of a scottish grandmother and succeeds. There are two areas, but we only saw one. The walls are covered with old wallpapers that are badly placed and curled up. The windows were damaged, there were leftover staples in the roof and the window covers were a misfit from the rest of the style. And then there is the music. There is a constant organ noise that sounds like it is supposed to be from a catholic church, but is played by a 5 year old. So the ambiance and interrior were just terrible.
Then there is the food. We ordered 2 cokes and 2 burgers. The coke tasted like they were either mixed with water or way too old. The burgers were supposed to be medium, instead we recieved them well done. The strange bagel bread bun was completely burned on the edges because of the grill. This made the burger taste like charcoal. The fries that came with it were good though.
There isn't much to be said about the service from the waitress. The young lady helped us fine, although she wasn't very concerned when we told her the buns were burned.
All in all the food was pretty bad, the interior garbage and the service fine. The reason it gets 1 star and not 2 is because it was also too expensive. It cost too much. Advice: don't go there.

Visited one evening , don't be put off by previous reviews.
Bright and airy dining room, obviously has had some work done on the ceiling but sure it will be fixed soon.
A warm welcome from staff, very friendly and helpful.
Good menu, in fact it's huge !
Portions were large, meat locally sourced and very very tasty.
Reasonably priced. Well worth a visit .

Came here in March 17, returned November 17. If at all possible, it was even better.
Alistair, as a host , is fantastic. So knowledgeable about the area, the local produce , the beers and wines. Where possible, always has a good variety of Scottish ales, and spirits to try.
This is a small bistro, but has a big heart , and you should not miss out if you are in the area.
First class !!

Newly renovated lounge and restaurant offering the finest of local food and drink. Exciting new menu accommodating vegan, vegetarian, GF and kids. Our lounge bar has an extensive range of north of Scotland gin, vodka, beer and whisky. Our public bar is in its original form, we celebrate its listed status as one of the very few traditional horse shoe bars offering a vast range of drinks to suit all tastes. We welcome dogs into the public bar. We have ample parking and are on the main bus route through the Blackisle.
We tried to find last minute a place to eat on a Saturday night in October half-term. We parked across the road in the car park and it looked like just a small drinking pub from outside, but through a door we found a bright and crisp, warm friendly restaurant. The service was good, we had a lovely meal and thought it good value for money. Our daughter had the soup of the day which was chicken and noodle with grated carrots and she loved it. We had fish and chips that were excellent. We would highly recommend this pub, but it does not serve food on Monday and Tuesday nights out of high season.

We called in today for lunch and as always both the food and service were just fantastic. We love the rustic décor which creates such a lovely ambience and the staff really couldn't have been friendlier. All the dishes were superbly presented and just delicious. The Happy Chappy real ale also went down a treat and we will definitely be back again soon.

We are a social Enterprise cafe run by Rosemarkie Amenities Association set in a nice green field right beside a sandy beach. We are a short walk from the nearest on street parking over a wee bridge. Great beach for rock-pooling, paddling and dolphin-spotting. Our young trainee staff learn to make simple food well: home-made soup, cheese toasties, hot drinks, salads. We have very naughty cakes and lovely ice-cream.

We are not the Ritz and we can't do much about the weather but we have a nice wee exhibition about the local area which is free, walks leaflets, maps and our staff are all local.

This year's profits will contribute to the replacement of our seaside tennis courts. What a gorgeous setting for a beach cafe! Tucked away at the edge of Rosemarkie beach is this lovely little find. It may not look anything special but it's defiantly a place I'd recommend for a nice lunch or coffee and cake...
We enjoyed some lovely moments here. Sitting outside watching the sea - looking for dolphins! A decent cup of coffee and extremely yummy paninis! All the food is freshly made - we also sampled some tasty homemade carrot and apple soup as well as iron bey sausages and homemade cakes!
The staff are very friendly which added to the lovely atmosphere.
Cant wait to return!
