I grew up in a German family and have visited Germany many times. So finding good German food is always a treat, especially in the South. Waldhorn is my fix when I visit friends in Charlotte. I love the wurst platter as a good starter to share. The selection of wurst is great, well prepared, and served with excellent German-style sauerkraut. This time several of us had the sauerbraten and I liked the sides that came with it but the meat itself was a bit more dry and less spicy than I had on my previous visit.
The setting is really nice and the service staff were excellent and knew the dishes very well. They also have a great selection of German beers and wines. If you want to leave the South and enter into a German setting, this is a nice place to do that.

Voted Best Place to take a Date, and Best Patio
My wife and I had an enjoyable lunch. Both of us ordered the soup du jour, split pea with ham. Tasty -- the peas were slightly underdone but a little more than true al dente. Not mushy like Campbell's, and definitely not out of a can. My wife had the Maryland-style Crab Cakes, I ordered the Chicken Fajita Wrap. Both came with a pile of crispy homemade potato chips. Very good dishes, although the "remoulade" served with her Crab Cakes was not very good, tasted like vinegar and tomato. The restaurant is a converted home, with a nice outdoor dining area under a shady pergola in front, but not for a wintery day like today. Pretty nice-sized lunch crowd, mostly older folks like ourselves. We will definitely be back to sample more. Brunch is served from 11am to 3pm. The Benedict Arnold sounded tempting.

We had an excellent meal. Only problem is it is quite loud. We were there early and had to wait for rest of group to arrive. It filled up fast. And can understand. Wonderful servers and awesome food. I had scallops which were cooked to perfection with mushroom risotto. Highly recommend but don’t expect to have a quiet conversation with your friends. In a lovely old building.

Been wanting to try this place so I finally tried it. $$$ price wise, skimpy on Holidaise and extra .35 for onions with home fries. Probably will try it ahain and order something else.

While the food is good and the service is uncommonly friendly and attentive, it process is sloooow. Don't expect to stop in for a last minute bite before your meeting. The place is interestingly decorated and always clean.
Getting there early is not only because of the slow kitchen, but early means fewer people and fewer people means less background noise. (We like quiet dining.)

food is good here. The barbecue is certainly tasty and there are a couple of sauces available on the table. We went with the Tuesday special regular barbecue sandwich with a side and cole slaw. I did not like the "red" cole slaw. Silly me, I thought it would just be made from red cabbage...it was made with vinegar rather than mayo. The sandwich was tasty but it was just on a hamburger bun. The fried okra (instead of fries) was good.

A long trip home, and we stopped for a late lunch at the Dixie Pig. We had the barbecue hash, which included chicken, pork, and potatoes over rice. We chose this dish, because it came with three sides, and the list of sides were mouthwatering. My mother and I both had macaroni and cheese , and she had potato salad and cabbage, while I chose red slaw and collards with black eye peas. We shared, and everything was Southern-fied good. I used some hot sauce on the collards for enhancement, and the hot food, including the hush puppies, became cold very quickly, but it was still a good experience, and I would go back. If you’re in Rock Hill check out this local joint, The Dixie Pig.

Great pizza. Huge meatballs. Excellent eggplant. Don't ask for a sausage hero or sausage parmesan heros or sausage & peppers as a dish or a hero, they don't want to know you. Yes they have sausages !

We have now been back to Hobo's from south Charlotte several times since coming upon Hobo's last spring. We have had a variety of meals and have not been disappointed. The burgers are quite good. We love the pasta salad. Various other meals and salads have been very tasty. We do have two recommendations: keep the facilities clean and urge all servers to pay careful attention to customers rather than each other and their telephones.

My job usually orders from here every Friday for the past 2 years,But I had never actually eaten in the restaurant until recently. I've had the fish, shrimp , burgers and grilled chicken salad, all very good and well seasoned. The restaurant was nice and clean, the staff was very polite, the wait wasn't too bad considering they were very very busy. The food is always good and hot.
