We have visited the restaurant for years, the food was always good but the restaurant was getting tired.
The new owners have completely transformed the whole experience which is definitely now the finest Nepalese restaurant we have ever experienced.
We had the momo, spicy chicken and a couple of sublime mains, special mention for the mango chicken and sweet naan!
We mentioned it was our anniversary and they gave use a specially cut cake and a card with our characatures drawn sweetly inside.
We didn't really want to leave!

Stopped here for lunch and was really impressed. The decor was good and it was clean. Ordered the 2 course meal deal. Great value and good choice. Food served in good time. Would definitely return. ?

Just returned from this restaurant with seven friends (December 16th) ....food was ok (ish), service was a little rushed, felt as though we were being hurried with our responses. .. restaurant was very cold, when we complained we were told ‘it’s because we have a very big restaurant’ .... well, sorry but if you are providing a service then you should ensure it is comfortable for your clients that are paying a reasonable amount of monies to you.... just shows us that our money is more important to them than our custom and comfort ... we (as a group of up to sixteen who regularly dine out together) will not be visiting this establishment again in a hurry. Client comfort is as important as is the quality of food. Thick woolies on if it’s cold outside when you are visiting this place !

El Castello is a family favourite with both children and adults alike. The food is consistently good with the wholemeal base pizzas, flatbread wraps and farfalle sorrentino highly recommended. Portions are generous, so we've never got around to trying the dessert options!
A children's menu is available with smaller options, plus there are colouring sheets to keep them amused.
The atmosphere is pleasant and they are easily able to cater when we have attended as part of larger groups.

We have been here many times and have never been disappointed with the service or food. It's been years since I ate at menu Thai. I was out off by my first visit when it first opened. This was my loss because actually the food is quite good and very reasonably priced.
The staff are attentive and friendly.
We both shared our starters and mains and both agreed that the food was delicious and the starters in particular were nicely presented.
My recommendation would be to sit in the downstairs area which is busier, more intimate and has a better atmosphere than the upstairs area.
Loos were very clean too.
Overall we had a great evening and will be back soon.

At the Crown and Cushion we are proud to serve fantastic food and drink; classic pub food or specials to rival any restaurant, all freshly prepared! On Sundays, you can choose a Sunday Lunch in our pub, or a superb carvery in our magnificent Meade Hall. Roaring log fires in winter, cricket on the green in summer!

We've been regular visitors to the Foresters over the past few months for their Sunday carvery. This is good value and quick. However, yesterday we didn't have such a good experience overall. We selected a bottle of Argentinian malbec, pointed it out to the waitress on the menu, she wrote its name down and then we waited for it to arrive. This was a little slow, but we weren't in a hurry. When it was brought over, the waitress said that she didn't like opening bottles of red wine because they usually have corks. OK, no problem. After trying unsuccessfully to open it, she went off to get someone else to open it and it arrived back a couple of minutes later. She gave it to us to taste; it was lovely and we got on with drinking it. When the bill arrived, the wine was much more expensive than we anticipated - the bottle we'd ordered was about £23, and we were charged £38. We looked at the menu again and then discovered that on the next page there was another Argentinian malbec, from the same vineyard with the same name at a higher price. This was what we'd inadvertently drunk. We pointed this out to the waitress who said that basically, because we'd accepted the wine at the point of tasting, it was our error. She said she could go and ask someone about this but didn't hold out much hope. We said yes please, could she do this but then she didn't move. We thought about not paying the gratuity that was on the bill but she was still standing there holding the card machine waiting for us to pay while we were discussing this. It was fairly clear that we weren't happy. Now, the price difference wasn't that great and being polite, and not wanting to make any further fuss, we duly handed over our cards. But if this had been people who were out for a special meal who were counting their pennies, this would have been quite an unexpected addition to their bill. Surely if there are two bottles with the same name and same grape variety from the same vineyard the bar staff would know this and perhaps double check which one the customer ordered? I don't think this is sharp practice, but some people might construe it like this.
So we left feeling dissatisfied. To be fair, we'd drunk the wine without question and as I said, it was lovely. However, there were 7 of us, we had main courses and starters so the bill was quite hefty. It would have been polite to have perhaps split the difference. And it was also my husband's birthday. So sadly, we won't be visiting the Foresters again for quite a while which is a shame as the food was fine.

I am a bit confused by all the 5* reviews as this wasn’t my experience. It was all just ok. Maybe the numerous local recommendations didn’t help and set my expectations too high? My main disappointment is probably not so much about the food when which for me was just ok and nothing special but more with the total lack of atmosphere. Perhaps some background music might have helped? The initial greeting was not the warmest and bearing in mind we were a fairly large party spending a lot of money I probably expected better service. Waited a long time for drinks and had to seek out waiter to get some service. Most waiters very rushed. One smiley guy delivering food but actually no one spoke to us all evening. No hi how are you, are you enjoying your meal blah di blah.. It just felt a bit sterile and not the welcoming experience I had expected from an Italian restaurant. Place was busy so obviously many like it. There’s too many else to choose from though so personally I am sad to say I won’t be coming back.
