We have been customers of Sammy's since their move to Woodhaven, several years ago. We dine in, take out, order from the catering menu several times a year for events, and even just visit for a coffee break with an Italian dessert. Lately, I've ordered large takeouts to deliver to bereaved families, families with new babies, or when someone is sick and could use a good, hot fresh meal. Life gets busy, and I can't cook for every gathering or for every family that needs help, but Sammy's can. Their portions are huge, hot, and delicious. Usually, a nice salad and hot garlic bread is included. The items are well packaged, and I am proud to share them with not only my family, but with friends. I trust Sammy's to always deliver a quality product, and they never let me down. The people who work there are so friendly and hard-working. Plus, I am always happy to support a small business in my community. Consider Sammy's for a family gathering - even if you just order a tray of chicken or lasagna, it takes a lot of stress and work off your hands. Sometimes, it's hard to get everything done during the day, but at least I know I can provide a really good, filling meal for my family during those times I can't cook for us. Again, the quality is above average, consistent, and I have never been disappointed with a single thing from here. When was the last time you can say that?

I grew up in the place and you still can't find a better doughnut around! The variety they offer is amazing. My personal favorites are the Blueberry Chip, Raspberry Chip, and the Nutty doughnuts.
Prices are reasonable and they are always fresh and tasty! BEATS those other big chain places hands down. Stop in and get some REAL doughnuts for a chnage.

This restaurant's rustic log cabin decor was very charming with the welcoming warmth of a fire place. The lodge is a great location for seating larger groups and is very family friendly! The menu options are extensive and the food very tasty.. Everyone in our group of seven ordered a different entree and all were happy with the quality and taste of their food and portions were generous. Prices are on the high end so not a place to take the family every week. But it's great for a special occasion or if you just want great food!

Must try the soups. I love this place for a quick meal. It is clean and well maintained. The prices are very good.
I would recommend the rice pudding and chicken noodle soup. The soup change daily so call ahead if you are looking for a special one.

Food was fantastic. The grits, chocolate pancakes, biscuits and gravy, Rubin sandwich, and frosted cinnamon toast was a hit with everyone. Fun, small local cafe with delicious food. Got a pie to go! We will be back!

We visited last Friday. Having made reservations we were surprised only 4 tables were occupied; that should have been the tipoff. We arrived early as we were meeting a couple that had just gotten married. Our intent was to celebrate with a glass of champagne. Wrong, the desired bottle was not available and the alternatives were not acceptable. Our friends arrived and had to settle on on the third choice in order to have a bottle of wine. I thought the name included "wine bar". I ordered a gin and tonic---mmm no Tangueray. We ordered a pizza, two Veal Parmesaans and appetizers. None of it up to the usual standard. Serve was less than optimal and the bill was not split as requested at the beginning of the meal. We will go back, but only because of previous experience. Beware this restaurant is slipping.

Food was good, just like mom used to make but service (out of kitchen) was a bit slow. Local patrons did not seem to mind because this is the kind of place where table talk was as important as tableware. If you keep your eyes and ears open you can learn the best time to plant corn as well as who's on first!

I've known about Piper's for twenty years. The food is home cooked, and consistently good. The chicken pot pies are delicious, and I can honestly say I've never had any bad food at this small town, Mom and Pop-type restaurant.
But its their FOUR-tier chocolate torte that keeps me coming back!
It is not a sweet chocolate, it is a rich chocolate, almost brownie-like in texture, with the most exquisite homemade cocoa frosting. A slice will run you almost $7.00, but it fills a container and will take about two days to eat. (Unless you have a gallon of milk and a partner to share!)
Stop by this place for a great family meal and good service to boot.
