We had just arrived at Quivey’s Grove, just outside of Madison in the area of Fitchburg, Wisconsin. A property featuring a restaurant in a historical home, along with an adjacent restaurant called, ‘Quivey’s Stable Bar & Grill. The cream colored brick of the Greek/ Italianate fieldstone mansion, blended into the white snowy landscape of this cold winter day; although, the scenery appeared much different when looking back and to the right. The old stable boldly stood against the stark surroundings of winter. Deep red in color, it beckoned, drawing us inward. The restaurant and Stable Bar opened May 23, 1980 – both are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original stable was built in 1855, while the entryway and main bar were added in 1989. The effect is quite remarkable; it is hard to distinguish between the newer and the latter. Nearly all building materials from the recent addition came from other 19th century barns; unstained hand – hewn beams… Walls of the original stable are comprised of stone 20” thick, while hand – hewn beams on the first floor are made of walnut. Nearby tables were constructed out of old wagon wheels by a couple of Wisconsin woodworkers. The second floor is also comprised of antique building materials and historical artifacts. There are several exciting pieces for historians to relish, although the American flag circa 1855, is a reproduction – count the stars, there are 31. Another exciting feature of the property is a stone tunnel built in 1980. The nearly 100’ structure was created using nearly 50 tons of stone. The gate for the tunnel wine rack and the metal work for the Stable Bar lantern, were the crafted by a Wisconsin blacksmith. The house itself is not only a restaurant, but also a museum. Eighteen inch thick walls, thirteen foot tall ceilings, floors of original unstained hemlock, walnut newel post and bannister – all beautifully authentic. Many political cartoons of the mid 1800s cover a wall, while other nearby walls remember Abraham Lincoln. Of interest is an “extremely rare” etching of “Lincoln and his Generals.” We were able to partake of a fabulous meal in the Stable Bar. The fish fry was most enjoyable. I highly recommend the Middleton Perch - pretzel crusted fresh lake perch fillets. The helpful staff of Quivey’s Restaurant, Bar & Grill were most courteous, they await you.

One of the biggest names in modern Dairy (Babcock) combined with Ice Cream (which I, ice cream expert, rank as a five). This needs adding.
Great cheese from on of the best programs in the country, and great kids staffing this place, smiling and helpful. I usually get a few pounds of favorites (butter kase for example). Parking can be tight but there's a line of short term meters in front.

The Greenbush Bakery has fantastic donuts. My favorite are the donut holes. They are cake donuts, generous in size (takes my ~3 bites to eat one), have a delicious vanilla flavor and just enough glaze on the outside. There are many full-size options and while I haven't tried one yet, the apple fritters look spectacular. I've been stopping by the Greenbush Bakery on the way to Oshkosh each summer for a few years. The quality has been consistent over several years and I look forward to my next visit in 2018. If you are in the area and like donuts, check this place out.

We were in town to tour U of W and it was my birthday. This was a great choice. Service was great, food was delicious and it has a lovely ambiance. We ordered the grilled calamari to start, which was excellent, albeit I thought a bit pricey for what it was. There are many choices for pizza, can't speak to the entrees since we stuck to pizza. The gave me a free cannoli w/ a candle at the end, very nice touch.

Just stopped by on my lunch hour. Enjoyed a white albacore tuna salad sandwich.
White albacore tuna, tiny diced red peppers, scallions, celery, fresh herbs mixed with just enough mayo. Topped with lettuce and tomato.
I swapped out the mozzarella cheese and opted for cheddar.
Your choice of bread. Russian white, honey wheat, rye, sourdough, olive oil rosemary or roasted garlic.
I opted for the roasted garlic.
Let's just say.... YUM!
The bakery looks devine. However too full for dessert today. Maybe next time.
Highly recommended that you stop for lunch.
There are several tables so you can stay and eat in.

First time here and we really enjoyed ourselves. Everything was tasty, including my mac n cheese and my husband's falafel wrap. Pretzel appetizer was also super yummy, with cheese and two types of mustard to dip. Plenty of options for us vegetarians. Server was friendly and fast, ambiance was mellow and relaxed.

I had the Japanese pan curry and the flavor was pretty good, mildly spicy. However, what was really disappointing was the breaded chicken. I was expecting it to be Japanese style like panko breaded, but it was just regular breading which didn't taste right with the curry.
Other than that, the atmosphere was decent and the staff were friendly. Although, I would probably try the other location next time I'm visiting.

Great atmosphere and delicious sushi. Very conveniently located close to the capital. Easy parking (lots of ramps around here). I️ personally like the chefs choice sashimi.

We live near Liliana's and have been here multiple times. The food is ALWAYS excellent. Last night we were there with a group of 6. We ordered 3 appetizers. 3 of us ordered salads. All of us ordered entrees. When the salads came, one was a half and two were whole. The half was huge and the whole could feed an army. A large army. When two if us said that we hadn't wanted that large a salad, the server said, "the menu says half and whole." I said, "Then you should ask us whether we want half or whole". She said, "If you don't say, we give you a whole." I said, "Then you should change that and ask." And they should. When a server is snotty with you, it colors the experience. (BTW, we heard a different server explain the salad size difference to a neighboring table, so we know it is not Liliana's policy.)
Several of us had the short ribs- and as usual- EXCELLENT!
We will be back, but really Liliana's, train your servers in this area. Ridiculous.

Private party took over the entire restaurant. Imaginative tasty appetizers, excellent bartenders. Impressive wine list. The filet was cooked to perfect temp, beet salad was cold and crisp with just enough goat cheese to keep it on taste. Panna cotta firm, but not gelatinous. Five-start service.
