Went there twice in April, but I know this restaurant from a long time...
In both recent visits we asked just for entries and the answer of the waiter was "I'll check with the kitchen if is possible..." and it was possible.
The main courses are made only for two persons (cost €25) and that obliged a couple like us to eat the same, wich I consider annoying.
Eated slices of bread with olive oil and salt, eggs with "farinheira" (traditional portuguese pudding) and "pata negra" ham, drinked a bottle of red wine from Vermiosa village (around €11), purified water and coffees.
Bill: €42,5.
The main problem with this restaurant is the menu focused in cod and meat dishes with plenty of olive oil. If you don't like meat (pork and veal) or cod go elsewere...
The other problem is the snob treatment of guests by the management.

After the renovation it is a modern place where you can have nice burgers. Service was quite fast and food well served. Now it s called Leitão.
However, if you are not a smoker neither like the smoke environment this place is not for you. I strugled to enjoy my food due to the constant smell of cigarretes, when I left my coats was stinking of cigarret, which is quite annoying. If it wasn´t for that I would consider it more often.

We were recommended this establishment by our host who had heard good things. She was spot on. From the outside in the evening it is nothing special. You walk into a bar that does not do justice to the restaurant room behind. We arrived just before 8pm and the barman was surprised at our visit because he did not speak English and dashed off upstairs. It seems no one else did but we were ushered through to the dining room which was lovely. With a lot of effort a lady went through the menu and we made our choices. Every effort was made by the staff to help us and we were well rewarded. The meal was great, starters, two good mains, wines and coffees came to about 38 Euros and we were well pleased. I had a steak which was cooked and cut up on a sizzling plate at the table.
We were able to relax after the meal by sitting in some comfy chairs by a roaring fire sipping our coffees and drinks and when we went to leave we were made to feel even more welcome. Unfortunately we were the only ones in that evening but it was a rememberable meal. Many thanks

Came to this place late night, not many dining options after 9.00pm in this small town.
The food was ok, maybe too much saucy for us. Will not return, though the lady there was vey nice.
Paid € 26 for 3 soups, main for two, bread and water.

This café is great. It has a nice variety of unusual drinks for a Portuguese deep interior café. It has the best collection of Portuguese artisans bears I have seen. The owner makes its own baylies like drink and has some very nice cocktails. If you are more into the teas you won't be dissapointed either. Choose your drink and enjoy the great view. It is worth it!

Charming little cafe bar in the old castle town of Castelo Rodrigo. Its a difficult terrain for anyone with balance issues. Roads and paths are cobbled and steep. This is the place to avoid the taxing terrain. Inside the traditional building are multiple rooms equipped with chairs and coffee tables. Toilets are available but not a dedicated disabled one. Staff are not multilingual but understand the names of their products. Prices are reasonable and service is good. Need milk to go in your english breakfast tea, no problem. The castle site is worth a visit and the cafe is essential.

It is not a gourmet restaurant but it offers quite good Portuguese dishes – look for its specialties. The portions are quite big; if you are three just ask two meals and share. That way will have some “space” for one of the delicious desserts. Enjoy!

Um restaurante super aconchegante com comidas tipicas e fartas, ótimo atendimento dos proprietários Fernando e Lurdes que te deixam super a vontade além disso o ambiente é climatizado e wi-fi grátis para os clientes.
