Here at The Fishin’ Pig, we have the finest from land and sea: savory, smoked meats and flavorful, fresh seafood! Founded by Matt Hurley, Nash Osborn, Shorty Osborn, and Jim Osborn, The Fishin’ Pig is a southern culinary combination that will delight all the senses! It all started in Memphis, TN, the BBQ Capital of the World, where Matt Hurley was honing his skills at contests and cook-offs. He then made the move to Virginia, opening Mulligan’s Sport’s Grille in Farmville. Missing the smell of a smoker, Matt founded Grady’s BBQ, named after his dad, in 2006. While he was bringing his Memphis-style expertise to the small town of Farmville, Shorty’s passion for catchin’ and eatin’ fish led to the creation of Shorty’s Famous Seafood & Chicken Breading and the popular phrase “Catch n’ Release in the Grease”. As luck would have it, Nash and Jim joined the Mulligan’s family as bartenders, introducing the Fish to the Pig. The relationship went swimmingly and in October 2012 they decided to go whole hog and combine the two companies to make The Fishin’ Pig.
My sister and i tried this spot after a friend recommended it. We were impressed and the food was fabulous. Great portions, reasonable prices and friendly service. A pretty decent sized place so Even if it appears busy (apparently it’s a local favorite) they seat you pretty quickly.
We’ll definitely return when we’re in the area again.

A fun place to have dessert of frozen yogurt. Variety of flavors and a large selection of toppings. Self serve. Easy to go overboard on the amount of yogurt and/or the toppings, though. A good value ... assuming you can control yourself. Fun place for the whole family. Relaxed dining indoors.

We had a good breakfast here. The bagels were fresh and they offered a good variety. The bagel sandwiches were good although I would have preferred a more generous portion of meat on them for the five dollar price.

I’m a regular patron and have witnessed this place start slacking off. They need a status check and get back on top of their game. . The seat cushions are filthy and need replacing ASAP. I don’t mind kitchen personnel flirting with college girls as long as it does not affect my service and quality of food.
This place was a refreshing change to this hick town. Hope they return to being the best.

We have eaten at this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. The roasted red pepper and crab soup is awesome! We have eaten salads, sandwiches, appetizers, desserts. Have always had great good. We just had lunch there on 12/23. Ordered the grilled cheese and ham sandwich and the crab cake sandwich. Delicious!! The restaurant is well maintained and the wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. Two thumbs up!

I love this place and have been going since high school! The small feel brings so much character and the menu is delish! Outdoor seating is now available and they've incorporated pimento cheese into some of the new dishes! Don't forget the ice cream or shakes! Yum!

We were in Farmville for parents weekend and we were looking for a nice place to take out our daughter for dinner. The reviews for Shogun were right on point! Everything we ordered was plentiful and delicious. We started with vegetable gyozas, shrimp tempura and crab Rangoon. Some of us had hibachi and others had bento boxes. All came with delicious onion soup and salad. We will be back for sure.

Try the shrimp fettucini alfredo or the eggplant Parmigiana or the calimari. You will come back. The college-town atmosphere doesn't quite match the high quality of the food, but it is worth putting up with.

Down home Southern cooking, home made meals from biscuits to fried chicken and real potatoes to house made pancakes and eggs. House made desserts are a special treat to sum up your great meal.
We are lunch at Riverside Cafe. We ordered the New York deli style pastrami and Swiss sandwich and fries and the chicken Caesar wrap and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The food was delicious but the serving size was very small. I have never had a New York style deli sandwich that barely had one thin layer of pastrami on it. My wife's chicken Caesar wrap had about four chunks of chicken in it. All this- $30. Unless you want to open up a charity that works by ordering ridiculously small servings for large sums of money I would avoid the Riverside Cafe.
