Take the stone steps one floor up and sit down in the inviting brasserie environment. Here you can enjoy a tasty lunch, the Bank's classic or delicious flavors from around the world. Regardless of time, there is always a good reason to pop in to the Bank.
There's a reason Banken is one of the top-rated restaurants in Falun. Just walk through the door and you're drawn in by the jovial atmosphere. People are there to have dinner and have fun.
From the public-feeling table layout, open air kitchen, upbeat music, Banken creates an atmosphere. The menu features regional specialties and an especially good lineup of craft beers. Being a tourist to Sweden, I particularly enjoyed the tapas plate with six different choices of unique Swedish tastes. For a main course, I went with bear sausage with a wonderful complement of potatoes, vegetables, mushrooms and more. I narrowed dessert down to five of the six options, going with the waitress recommendation of vanilla chocolate pana cotta.
Service, atmosphere, food quality, price - all four star. Frankly amazed at cost given the amount of food and quality of preparation.
Most of all, you'll have fun at Banken. It's not so serious.

There may not be a lot of choses in Falun, but from an outsider perspective, this place is average all around. The food was okay, but nothing special. We missed the lunch buffet, but the remnants before the cleanup did not look very appetizing. The service was very slow but maybe everybody was going on break after the lunch buffet. And it was expensive compared to the USA. About twice as expensive for everything. $20+ entrees no matter what you get. If you need chinese in Falun, this might be your only option.

My friends and I went for a drink after pre-drinking at our friends place. Pitchers was quite empty, maybe only 3 tables going. The bartender spoke right English and made good recommendations. The cocktails that the girls got were tasty. I know if was expensive but everything in Swedish is expensive. The decor in the bar was clean and old bar feel. I cannot afford do to this much but it was nice going there.

Dalasalen is a buffet restaurant that cater for 100s of visitors every day, yet, the food is always fresh, and very good. The venue itself is an interesting setting, of what used to be the officers restaurant when the area was a military base (now closed down and rejuvenated to a business estate). Recommended for a quality fast lunch, without fuss.

Went there for a beer before dinner (had a reservation in another restaurant). Ended up with two beers before dinner. They have a lot of brands. After dinner we went back and stayed there until they closed. Some good Seating in the back. Very pleasant staff.

I booked our lunch table for five well in advance. The restaurant demanded that we choose our menus at time of reservation which was a bit difficult for me to organise not wanting to send around menus to my guests at the lunch. Instead, I ordered two fish, two steaks and a hamburger for the child. All of us where very satisfied with everything. The service was impeccable, so also the food.

Welcoming entrance and reception. Here, you feel comfortable and it's a good start to the restaurant visit. Sure, they peeked at what's popular in large cities, but yet they have found their own profile. Not without you desire a chefs table in the open kitchen, but please visit the deli and get an insight into what's going on in the small kitchen.Scandinavian tapas dishes gives a taste of the kitchen's knowledge, and that is not bad.One oversalted Jerusalem artichoke soup was the only faux pas.All is not brilliant but keeps itself at a very good level to be in a small Swedish town.

The outside does not look like much but the interior is really nice with leather couches to relax in before and after the meal. Meat (deer, lamb and sirloin) was perfect and finishing it off on your own lava rock was a treat. Kids had desert (included in their free(!) Saturday special) that was way above the standard of ordinary kids meals. There was also a play room for smaller kids. Staff was very attentive too and we really appreciated that the whole experience was fine dining and family friendly at the same time.
