Choose from Our extensive Breakfast, Brunch & Lunch menu, or the ever changing specials board. All our food is made on site from fresh ingredients, with love. Our aim is to "tease and please" the palate. We also back ourselves with offering the districts best coffee.
We went to breakfast and chose the half sized cooked breakfast. There was a tomato, egg, 2 cocktail sausages, bacon, hash brown, mushrooms on lightly toasted bread. It was very satisfying. The room was inviting with its leather couches and there was further Seating upstairs. The cabinet food looked inviting. We enjoyed the breakfast so much that we went back the next day to have it all over again.

The Farm Barn is a wonderful cafe in the country, surrounded by stunning Mountains and farm land. We offer a variety of foods, drinks, baking and light meals including the famous Fairlie Bakehouse Pies and Denheath Custard Squares. Everything is homemade using the best quality ingredients. We also have a great selection of New Zealand made clothing and souvenirs including possum/merino knitwear and much more. Relax in the country atmosphere and enjoy the warmth of our logburner fire in the Winter. We provide a large car parking area. FREE WIFI is also a bonus!
We dropped by this cafe on the way to Lake Tekapo from Christchurch.
The atmosphere is very good. We had hot pumpkin soup as light lunch.
There was a beautiful view stretching out in front of this cafe.
Many people were taking photos standing on the road.

At the Fairlie Bakehouse we believe fresh is best and in friendly efficient service.
We called in here for pies to take away for lunch.
This place is busy, busy - plenty of people mid-morning.
The pies are outstanding - amongst the best we have tasted during our 2 month visit to New Zealand.
As we have discovered elsewhere, it's probably best to get there before luchtime in order to have a good selection.

A La Carte dining in a relaxing environment in our sunny conservatory or in our elegant dining room.
Nice location set back from the main road in a lovely old renovated homestead. Good selection of dishes - my wife had a roast lamb main course and I had an excellent monkfish in a crusted almond topping. Both were generous portions and well cooked.Reasonable wine prices and a decent selection. Friendly serving staff.
Overall we will definitely return.

The Silverstream Hotel offers best specials board around home made food sizes very large, Sunday Roasts to summer yummy salads, dine in or take away, Great out side beer garden or sit and admire the Mountains, we also have accommodation available wake up and see mount Dobson, we also cover for functions so give us a call Dave or Mandy
Stayed at the Mount Dobson Hotel next door so basically this was the only place to eat.
Arrived late at the hotel 6:30pm and was advised just to walk across to the restaurant to check when it would be closing (it was a Tuesday night) . My wife was advised that they would be serving meals and drinks (it is a pub too) till about 8:00pm so after a long day we just unloaded the car and walked in.
I was surprised to see how busy it was I assume with locals which indicated to me that it must be a good place for meals.
PS the locals always know when they are on a good thing.
I had the Ham Steak and my wife had the snapper. Great food and plenty of it all served in very quick time. This is basically New Zealand Hospitality at it's best. Great food, friendly country atmosphere making you feel very welcome.
Can I say to all our Tripadvisor members if you are passing in this area while touring NZ just call in (hope you can get a table) and enjoy the friendly country atmosphere on offer for a drink or a meal.

Stopped for dinner based on the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. The limited menu had a selection of pizza's with unusual toppings and a few mains. We were delighted by our pizza's including one with chicken, brie and cranberry. The pizza's come in two sizes with the 8" one easily big enough for one person and costing only $17.50. While the food couldn't be faulted the service was poor. We can only assume the waitress was new but she seemed too timid to approach the customers when there were only three tables occupied all evening. She had to return to check all of our orders, never checked on our progress, delayed on clearing the plates and failed to ask us about desserts or further drinks. A manager should be providing training and continued guidance until she feels confident to run the front of house.

We passed through Fairlie and stopped for some dinner. This restaurant catered for all of us so we decided to stop and eat. Kids had nuggets and chips and the serving of chips was enough for two children. The crispy skin chicken, nasi goreng and vegetables and noodles were huge servings and very tasty. Quick service and great value. I was surprised this wasn't on TripAdvisor as a choice! They do takeaway or sit in booth style Seating with a warm heater. Located opposite the supermarket in the main town area.

Home made organic & semi organic slices & biscuits, scones, soups, toasted sandwiches, salads, quiches etc. We have organic coffee, Dandelion or Turmeric or chai latte's, hot chocolates & NZ juices. A wonderful organic wholefood store of nuts, seeds, beans, pulses, dried fruits and herbs and spices. Gluten, dairy, refined sugar free and vegetarian options available.
I highly recommend visiting Soul Food! As a local, I love Sushi Thursday's and their daily homemade soup. I also buy my organic herbs/spices and wholefoods here. There's a great selection and they are reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit to stock up on some healthly foods.
