Eupen (German (pronounced [ˈʔɔʏpn̩]) and French (pronounced [øpɛn]), previously known as Néau in French, and Dutch (pronounced [ˈøːpə(n)])) is a city and municipality in the Belgian province of Liège, 15 kilometres (9 miles) from the German border (Aachen), from the Dutch border (Maastricht) and from the "High Fens" nature reserve (Ardennes). The town is also the capital of the Euroregion Meuse-Rhine.

Looking for a place to have the special atmosphere of the german spoken part of Belgium, just choose the Old Ratskeller. Nice ambience, great food in Belgium size portions and good beers. Friendly and very attending staffs.
Will go definitely again there when staying at Eupen

We stopped here as the halfway point of an 18km hike through the Hautes Fagnes. The food was much better than we had expected for a rather remote location. The portion sizes were hearty and filling and although the food was rustic, it was tasty and presented well. The service was friendly and the Terrace was lovely.

We enjoyed an excellent 4-course meal (menu gastronomique). Youy can choose between 4 choices for each course.
We ordered the house apéritif, made with fresh orange juice, and cointreau: nice but not very appetizing. Still think champagne makes the best apéritif!
Our meal started with a complementary bavarois of tomatoes: very fresh and nicely presented. For our first course, we chose the asparagus velouté, as it was the right season for fresh Belgian asparagus. It came with a chervil mousse on top of it. Very nice indeed!
We had opted for the braised duck liver, had to pay extra for it, but was absolutely worth it! It was served on a sweet freshly baked "cookie", with fried pear and Tonka beans ice-cream. A strange combination, but it tasted absolutley wonderful. It was the best course of the meal for us.
My husband had the codfish with green purée and dille-sauce for his main course. A very traditional but tasteful dish. I preferred the roast-beef with vegetable frittata and a creamy green peppersauce. I was afraid it would have been too rich, but it was a very well balanced dish.
For desert my husband, who isn't a fan of sweet dishes, preferred the cheese-plate. It came with some fruit and syrup, which went excellently with the small pieces of cheese. For him, it was a very nice end of the meal.
My hazelnut pastry unfortunately was rather hard - I couldn't slice it with my fork or my spoon. I had to scrape the pine-applemousse of it and eat it seperately with my hands, biting a piece of it. In all, my desert wasn't refined enough. The taste of it wasn't very remarkable and didn't meet the standards of the previous courses.
Every dish was nicely decorated: very colourful, no big chunks, no full plates. It was all very destinguished.
The staff was very well dressed (with a bow tie), but maybe a little too formal. The owner of the hotel and restaurant welcomed every guest during the evening, even shook our hands. That was nice, but also: a little too formal.
Our glasses of wine and water were topped regularly.
The price of this 4-course meal, inclusing a bottle of wine, a large bottle of water and the apéritif was 146 euro, which we thought was very resonable. This included the additional cost for the duckliver of 7 euro pp.
We had chosen our wine, but the waiter suggested another one.
It was almost half the price of the one we had originally picked, and unfortunately this was noticable in its taste. Although this white wine was nice the first courses, it was not powerfull enough for the main course, nor the cheese, although the waiter had assured us it was (we had our Reservations, but he insisted).
Nevertheless, we were so satisfied, that we didn't order a coffee.
We never tip: service is always included in the meals in Belgium.
It really is NOT rude not to tip!
Make sure to make a reservation if you want to eat here!

Katja reigns on this restaurant with her husband as chef. When eating out in Eupen it is our preferred restaurant with a brasserie type of kitchen, excellent regional wines advised on the black board and one of the few places in the area where you can have fresh oysters. Charming service by Katja and the young lady. If the Eupen weather allows, al freco lunch or dinner available.
I can really recommend this restaurant.

Well worth looking up and finding your way there. Great location, near forest for a walk after lunch. Friendly staff, good service, great food. Visit highly recommended.

This nice Italian restaurant, in front of the Eupen town hall, has just moved next door from its previous location. It is always fully booked. You better be early or have a reservation! Their Pasta dishes and Pizzas are just excellent! Service is always friendly and efficient! In other words just ... excellent Customer attention!

As the restaurant in the neighboring hotel was closed on the day I was staying there I had to look for an alternative. Luckily there was a restaurant 50 meters away from the hotel.
The exterior didn’t look very inviting, but the menu did. And once inside, the decor is promising.
I had difficulties to choose a dish from the limited menu, as all dishes appealed to me.
very good service and beautiful dishes!

This was my first visit to this Greek owned Cafe-Bistro in the center of Eupen. It was the season to eat "Spargel" (asparagus). I decided to have a Spargel with meat, which was not bad. However, serving 'Pommes Frites' with it was not exactly my preference.
Food was good but not more. Service was friendly and prompt.

This is one of my all time favorite restaurants!!
It has all it takes to make it a first class dining experience, but with a surprising low budget.
The meals are way too big even if you're hungry as a wolf and they are just delicious!!

Enjoyed "mixed grill" (brochette de boeuf, merguez, agneau) with 3 different sauces, fresh salad and "frites"/French fries (good "value"/17 Euros)
Take a look at the local specials.
The owner is also wine dealer and has a great choice of nice bottles.... but check=read+understand the wine list and be aware that you have to add 15 Euros for each bottle you don't take home but drink in the restaurant ...this should not be a problem for guests who can "read" (and agree to pay for good value)
friendly and good service
I'm sure to come back if in the region.
