Nice traditional local food in a traditional, relaxed and cosy atmosphere. If you can manage to get a table outside on a nice warm evening - do it, the restaurant is in a very nice location and probably even looks better from the outside then from the inside.

So for what ever reason you're in Eschwege, in the city there are only a few places you can go to have a wide variety of lunch and here you can choose from potato gratin to pizza subs to salads, ice cream or cake and coffee. There is a male waiter who waits on most of the tables during the day who is fantastic!! He is so happy and really takes the time to make you feel warm and welcome. You can sit outside, or inside there is a smoking and non smoking section. We liked his service we came back the next day for lunch as well :) The prices are very cheap, a pretty large spinach potato gratin was 4 euros and not much at all over 6 euros. You can also get all your meals from here, breakfast lunch and tea so you're set for good service, cheap prices and a good choice for Seating! We walked around all the restaurants in the city and came back to here twice so if I was there again it would most likely be the only place I eat at- again.

This is a lovely restaurant which was packed with locals when we arrived. The food was great and typical Italian, the local rose wine was also excellent. The service whilst exceptionally friendly could have been a little more attentive but overall highly recommended. I haven't tried other restaurants in the town but certainly didn't see any that looked like they could compete with La Grotta.

Pizzeria

We came here with family and had such great service from all the staff. They have an awesome bier garden and good selection of beverages. I ordered the Schmandschnitzel and it was sooo good. Definetly get this if you visit. The place is packed with locals also, which i always a good sign. Great value for money too Compliments to chef Menda!

We were delighted with the hamburgers! We ordered two types (Eskinivvach and Dittelman) and they were quite original with the sauces. The menu is worth it! (9 euros for the hamburger, french fries and beverage) Quite an original place in the village!
