Ercolano [erkoˈlaːno] is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania of Southern Italy. It lies at the western foot of Mount Vesuvius, on the Bay of Naples, just southeast of the city of Naples. The medieval town of Resina - read Resìna - was built on the volcanic material left by the eruption of Vesuvius (79 CE) that destroyed the ancient city of Herculaneum, from which the present name is derived. Ercolano is a resort and the starting point for excursions to the excavations of Herculaneum and for the ascent of Vesuvius by bus. The town also manufactures leather goods, buttons, glass, and the wine known as Lacryma Christi (Tears of Christ).

We were visiting Ercolano and staying in the Villa Batista, which is owned by the owners of this restaurant too.
We went early as we arrived on Saturday thinking we might need to book. And we did. We had to book and come back an hour later. So we asked if we could get a drink first but was pointed across the road. So we went there.
Returned at our now booked in time, and the lovely waitress read us the entire menu, translating as she went. Brilliant service, and good food followed. Some food came better than others, but that was more a taste thing rather than a quality thing.
Overall very good meal, and very friendly service.

Brilliant service. Dishes full of flavour and excellent wine list. Take time to ask for the owners choice of best local wine and you'll get something exquisite at not much cost. Truly exceptional cooking and if you chat you'll no doubt, like us, get offered a free digestif and lots of info.
Lovely evening and great local cooking.

My husband and I are at Il Veliero due it's proximity to the Torre del Greco Circolo Nautico, where we were keeping our boat. What a lovely surprise to find such delicious food in the neighbourhood. The frutti di mare soute, croouquettes, pasta and zuppa di fagioli...all were wonderful. Very good service and a friendly atmosphere, for a reasonable price. Would highly recommend.

We chose this on the basis of online reviews, and it fully justified our choice. The staff were a little surprised to see us: this is not a tourist restaurant, we were the only non-Italians there, and they only have the menu in Italian.
But they were very hospitable, and the menu was mouthwatering. It was slightly daunting as it was clearly structured for you to have a four-course meal, but they didn't bat an eyelid whn my wife ordered a starter and a secondi, and I ordered a primi and a secondi. And they were all excellent: the meat was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and everything else lived up to that standard. The wine-list was one of the most extensive I have seen, with wines ranging from 14 - 300 euros a bottle. We went in at the modest end, and had a bottle of local Gragano (a red wine from Sorrento) which was delicious too. We were right only to have gone for two courses, too: we were completely full by the end, and able only to enjoy a couple of excellent coffees before we left. Lovely food, and friendly, helpful (if surprised) staff made this a very enjoyable evening out.

For a dinner in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere we have recommended, to our guests, to get to the restaurant La Barrique. All were delighted with our suggestion! The best appetizer of fresh local seafood, particularly originals pasta or soups and excellent Argentine or Irish meat. Wide variety of Italian wines or handmade beers. Very much enjoyed the fresh garden in summer. Reservation is necessary.

Cucina Tipica Di Carne
After a little effort (the restaurant seemed closed..) we found our way in and were welcomed warmly by Dante... He brought marvellous antipasti, local meats and cheeses with various accompaniments, then Angus beef cooked to absolute perfection, together with just the right amount of vegetables. Dessert was appropriately rich and delicious, the suggested wine an excellent Nero d'Avola and all for a very reasonable total bill. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the ruins at Ercolano... Or indeed anywhere near there.

This was the first place we visited in Rome. We must have looked like lost puppies, because the employee helped us out. He spoke very good English and explained everything. The gelato itself was incredible. I recommend the chocolate hazelnut if you like Nutella!

Utterly famished after a morning climbing Mt. Vesuvius, we stopped here for a satisfying lunch. The restaurant is quite large, with ample indoor and outdoor Seating, featuring a mix of Italian families, as well as the big tourist coach buses. We sat outside on the Terrace and enjoyed the beautiful views around us.
The service was polite and efficient, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the tender, fried calamari; abundant and tasty antipasto (meats, cheeses, veggies, arancini); and the margarita, marinara, and Vesuvio (white pizza with onions and ham) pizzas, all of which had nicely charred and chewy crusts.
