Big C's Sandwich Shop

We were at Big C's for a breakfast business meeting. The restaurant was busy, many were the local residents. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. My favorite was the breakfast sandwich. ...highly reccomended.
There was another meeting going on. Obviously Big C's is the center of activity in Elkhart. I liked the fact that they had free wifi, too. Will definitely visit again.

Wildcat Cafe

This was my first time to visit the Wildcat Cafe. I was there for breakfast. I heard that the 'locals' all get the breakfast burrito. You can get a small or large size, and have your choice of meats added. I had the small with charizo sausage. I also had the biscuits and sausage gravy. Oh my gosh! This must be their 'signature' breakfast. They bake the biscuit dough in a large pan and then cut pieces, instead of making individual biscuits. It was absolutely delicious. The sausage gravy is a meal in itself. Enjoy!

Lovely place for eat before getting back on the road while traveling across country. We let Kansas City, drove all day into the night, then stayed i Elkhart at the El Rancho Motel, got up early, ate here, got gas on the corner, then heading to Santa Fe. It was all efficient and inexpensive. The people are kind in this town.

While traveling through Kansas, we stopped for lunch in Elkhart. This is a nice restaurant with a nice salad bar. I ordered soup and salad. Loved the tomato-basil soup. My husband ordered a sandwich.... took a little while to get, but it was good. Would stop here again if in Elkhart.

El Aguaje

New location downtown in the parking lot of the Elkhart Motel, which was the first knock against it since I have always thought the building looked old and dirty. I had the gorditas, which were okay, but not great. Someone else in my party had a steak taco which looked very good. The service was marginal, and I just couldn’t get past the atmosphere. I would eat here again, but it just wouldn’t be my first choice.
