If you are feeling in the need of a good yum cha, but don't want to travel into the city, I can recommend the Golden Dragon Palace in the "New Territories' - (Doncaster/Templestowe.
There is good parking, including an underground carpark, and the restaurant is spacious, comfortable and usually, very busy!
There is an excellent selection of yum cha - the trollies are constant and there is always a wide selection of dumplings, buns, meats, etc. I have always found the choices plentiful and delicious.
I recommend that you book before hand, although yum cha is served all week, not just on the weekend.

I’ve spent many years trying not to go to the Pancake Parlour. I’m not that fond of pancakes savoury or sweet. My memories of the place from the past were not kind. The place doesn’t have a strong reputation either. But, I had to go...MoreHi TwoSheds57, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback :)

We tried this unpretentious restaurant with regular dinner friends. Parking is easy,and decor simple.But the food was exquisite and portions very generous.The squid entree was simply stunning.A bit above your normal pizza/pasta restaurant.Will definitely go back again.

A private dining haven for a unique dining experience. Tao’s is one-of-a-kind modern Japanese concept that offers a multi-course selective set menu. The restaurant is fully licensed and Byo wine only, Corkage Charges: Wines/Champagne Below 750ML - $10/bottle, Above 750ML - $20/bottle. The food is a careful combination of Eastern and Western fare that offers an exciting blend of traditional and contemporary flavors. Tao’s romantic ambience is the perfect setting for special occasions, wedding receptions or corporate functions. Located in Bulleen just off the Eastern Freeway, with ample parking space.
Plus points: Very nice location and very roomy with good space between the tables; BYO with $10 charge per bottle; good and varied selection for each course; presentation is very impressive;
Negative points; our waiter was not very good or accommodating... asked him a number of times to slow it down between courses. He was also pushing us to leave when there were still other customers present.
Being a 6-course meal I personally felt the portion size for each course was too big... might be ok for others!
Overall we had a great evening out with great food, lovely wines and good friends.

Very nice food and great service. The paella is a 40 minute wait, but worth waiting for. We were the only diners. We were treated very well and not rushed at all. Be wary of the time limit parking out the front!

Ampang Tofu has undergone an extensive refurbishment since I last reviewed it, and it is now quite a large restaurant with ample Seating that even spills out onto the footpath with overhead radiant heaters and about 3 or 4 tables outside.
I couldn't help myself and had to upload some photos of their current menu. It looks like they must have had it printed in China as it contains some completely nonsensical and ridiculous phrases. You'd think after being in the business this long, they'd have some idea of the English language!
Anyway the food is still good. The current price for the Yong Tofu (soup with noodles and 6 ingredients) is $13. The restaurant is as popular as ever and the last time I went for dinner, there was a queue for tables and the waitress was taking down names. This is a regular occurrence, so if you can book, do so, and don't be late or the Waitstaff tell you off!
Tea was complimentary, which is a must at a restaurant like this, and service was what you'd expect from an asian eatery - nothing spectacular and the customer has to be a bit proactive in getting the attention of the Waitstaff.
Anyway they're clearly doing something right judging by the popularity, and I'll be back for sure too!

Well worth a visit. Good Italian style cuisine and has in the past had a great jazz combo on the first Sunday of each month. Not sure if this is still the case so check this out. Otherwise a good venue for social gatherings.

As a last minute choice this restaurant turned out to be good choice. Its quite a roomy restaurant with plenty of well spaced tables. Service was friendly and pretty prompt. The cuisine was modern Italian which generally will satisfy most palates. Most main meals were around the $30 dollar mark so it represented good value for good quality food.
