Like Rothenburg, Dinkelsbuehl is one of the smaller medieval fortress cities. With its walls and towers still intact, it has the look of a typical German town of the 15th to early 17th century. Sample the famous German cuisine served in larger cities, but without the crowds. Don't miss the annual summer celebration, marking the city's surrender to Swedish troops during the Thirty Years' War. The event is emphatically reenacted by many of the town's residents. And really, who doesn't love amateur theater?

This tavern is located on the main street that leads from the gate and the car parking to the center of the town. That’s why I expected the food there to be so-so, like in any place in a touristy area, and the prices very high. To my surprise that was not the case. First I saw their menu, and the prices of EUR7.80 for salmon and EUR 10.40 for the trout; they looked like prices from kid’s menu, and I expected to see small portions. We decided to go to this place because we were very hungry. The customers were all locals, and the owner (I think he was the owner) did not speak English much. Despite that he was very friendly, and we felt welcome at that place. I asked him what kind of beer they had on draft, and he just showed me to follow him behind the bar where he poured half a mug of beer just for me to try (no charge, I only had to pay for what I ordered later). We ordered the whole trout, a schnitzel and some other meat dish with potatoes. The portions were quite generous (definitely not from the kid’s menu), and the food tasted great (please see the pictures that I have posted here)
I highly recommend visiting this place when you are in Dinkelbuhl to have lunch or dinner, and I guess if you’re staying at their guest house, the breakfast should be just as great. Two thumbs up!!!

Family-run restaurant that welcomes you with an atmosphere as if all remained as in the 1970s: traditional furniture strikes your eye; if you look closer the attention to details of setting and colour adds to the effect.
The menu has meat, fish and some vegetarian dishes. We tried a fish specialty of the week, carp, and were quite happy with the quality of the food. Well cooked, sensibly seasoned and with a sizeable serving of salads as part of the dish. The regional white wine went well with the fish.
Quiet, pleasant and tasty experience!

It was in our opinion the best restaurant we visited in Dinkelsbuhl. The interior is not any special but the food was. The salad was excellent (you must have their salad with smoked salmon). During dinner the chief cook appeared and greeted guests which I think is lovely.

When you travel and are looking for the perfect place, just follow the locals.
This is true to Weib's. The brewmaster is a woman. How cool is that, she does a fantastic job.
The food was out of this world. Thanks for the perfect end to a perfect day.

Using local seasonal produce is central to the creation of this modern German and international cuisine. Nowadays it is imperative to know what you eat and drink, hence we put the greatest emphasis on the quality of our food, thus most of our meat is purchased from local farmers. Being cooked and delivered in an imaginative yet no-nonsense manner it has made dining at The "Deutsches Haus" an experience in its own right. Our ,,Ancient German" restaurant seats 90 guests in three locations. During the summer meals are also served on our spacious Terrace opening onto the "wine-market".
I was at the restaurant thursday evening before Kindezeche (the yearly festival in Dinkelsbühl), and the restaurant was barely half filled.
Nevertheless it took ½ hour to get our entre - 2 sauges with sauerkraut split between two persons.
The main courses came more than ½ hour after that. When questioned the waitress claimed it was because "people are served in the order they place their order".
Well, if the kitchen staff can't handle more than 1 order at a time, then maybe they should call in a teacher.
The food was great.

Firstly, Meiser's Café Restaurant Lounge is beautifully and comfortably furnished. Both inside the house and outside you can sit for hours whiling away your time. Staff are extremely friendly and attentive.
The bar is great.
The kitchen also accommodates special dietary needs.
Breakfast was served as a buffet: Fabulous.
Dinner: White asparagus served with beef tenderloin medium rare and potatoes: Excellent. Salmon served with spinach and roasted potatoes: Good but every single ingredient was overly salty.
Tea time: Cake fresh from the baker. Different kinds of tea, coffee specialties. Good.
So why 'average'? Whilst the house and hotel provide a comfortable, rather luxurious and elegant setting, the restaurant's is unsettling with few typically regional dishes and a motly offer of 'international' dishes aimed at tourists of all ages such as 'Currywurst', Chili con Carne, Thai Curry soup' and high-priced dry aged beef.
It might improve things if the restaurant had two areas offering different menus like a rather bistro menu on the deck and in the café and a slightly more exclusive menu for the restaurant and the garden. Just saying.

We had been hiking all over the downtown and having missed lunch stopped in for some crepes. They were very good. Inside Seating was at a premium though there was a lot of outside Seating (obviously weather dependent). Not a bad place for a snack, but I wouldn't plan on it for a main meal.

We stopped in here for a late lunch after touring Dinkelsbuhl. What a great surprise! The food was delicious and fresh. The staff was very attentive. Staff speaks Italian and German, but we were able to communicate just fine. They do close between lunch and dinner. We saw several people get turned away - so watch the time. Would definitely recommend for a nice outside Italian meal!

At the beginning in this restaurant I was a little skeptical. I was around 6pm and no one was there.
But I decided to take a risk and it was worth it. I ordered a burger and it was delicious. Fries also great. I took the next time my friend and he also liked the food there.
After a long day its nice place to sit, drink and eat.
Also the design of restaurant is nice and interesting.

My wife and I had a tasty lunch here during a beautiful spring day, but the severely understaffed service team struggled to keep up with orders and food Delivery. It took almost an hour for soup and an appetizer to arrive and the main dishes were delivered 15 minutes later. I blame the fact that the restaurant had only two servers, one of whom was mostly disinterested in her job. In fact, she botched our order. The dinner we had at the Amalfi Restaurant was also tasty, but the service was excellent.
