The regeneration of Derby continues with the burgeoning restaurant scene becoming ever more exciting. Top of our list is Anoki, an indulgent Indian restaurant which brings Asian dining in the city in to the 21st century. The arched dining room with its decadently moulded ceiling is somewhere between glamorous railway arch and pared down Eastern palace. Chandeliers hang from the ceilings, plushly upholstered high backed seats line immaculate tables and provocative artworks hang on every wall. The kitchen team bravely put together new flavour combinations, which sit comfortably alongside traditional curry house dishes and authentic tastes of the subcontinent too.
We booked Anoki on a recommendation and were not disappointed. The restaurant is in an impressive hall-like room, and even on a Wednesday night it was packed. The waiters are smartly liveried and the service is excellent. There is a large screen showing Bollywood videos which adds to the atmosphere. We were served poppadums straight away, and drinks were quick to arrive. The menu is different from your average curry house and the food was exquisite, with great spicing and perfect heat. The naans were excellent too. Price was higher than a bog-standard curry house, but this is no bog-standard curry house and we were happy to pay. We had an excellent evening here.

Italian trattoria, serving homemade fresh food 5 days a week. Family run, local institution, opened by Alfonso Mallardo, and now run by his two sons. In the evenings, we serve a mixture of Italian classics, and some more adventurous specials. Pop in for lunch for a quick bowl of pasta or platters of antipasti.
Booked for a very busy Saturday night , the restaurant was extremely busy but we were greeted and seated promptly. Lovely Christmas menu, food delicious and servers were so friendly polite and helpful. We had an amazing meal and will return to try the main menu soon.

"Namaste" Thank you .
We never tire of eating at this restaurant. Gorgeous food in comfortable surroundings with a warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere. Booked a table for two on Saturday evening. We're both veggies so had the Paneer Karahi, Lentil Dahl and a side of Chana Masala, accompanied by vegetable pillau rice and a garlic nan. Absolutely gorgeous as always; spicy and very tasty. We left the restaurant feeling full but not 'stodged' - quality food. We'd recommend eating here as it's one of our favourites in Derby and never disappoints.

Hungry as a bear, I went to this restaurant for a lunch. The decoration was very atmospheric, Cuban style, like it immediately. I ordered Quesadillas burger with the updated sweet fries swap. It was delicious, the burger was juicy, well cooked. It is hand made...MoreHi Vasilis Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit with us We are so pleased that you enjoyed our food that you ordered and the service you received! A small friendly resturant that specialises in Italian and British food.
Advisable to book. The bistro is local to us but you could quite easily walk past it but once inside wow!!
Food choice is excellent with so much to choose from and a fantastic specials board.
The staff are at speed and very informative of the menu. If you have a celebration of any kind, let them know as your name goes on the big black board in the bistro - nice personal touch. Even the chef came out to join in the celebrations!
No waiting in-between courses either and inside is beautifully decorated.
The atmosphere is warm and relaxing and it's very clear they love families.
Would highly recommend this place. From the atmosphere, food, quality of knowledge, friendly helpful staff and superb food. Well done. We have been there 5 times now and are looking forward to go back again

Lovely Tapas, nice bottle of wine, a 7.4% Craft IPA Beer on tap (wow!). From the bread, to the cod in batter, to the chorizo - everything a delight. Great, friendly, service. Coming up to their fourth birthday, but the enthusiasm is such that you would think they are in their first month. Just great.

It was our second visit here and the food was just as good. I tried the chilli burger this time which was so tasty, all the flavours worked together so well. The waitress/waiter were both very friendly, which felt welcoming. Will always recommend

In the midlands for the weekend so visited our favourite Restuarant Rowleys. Noticed they had a new taster menu didn't have it ourselves, but heard diners saying how lovely the food was, will definitely eat there on our next visit. However we did have cocktails which were simply amazing. I've never tasted cocktails like this anywhere else. Can't wait for our next visit. Thanks Rowleys once again.
