Calm contemporary decor, a waitstaff that know they are there to make your dining experience the best it can be (and not to be your best friend), good variety on the menu, the best salmon (it's usually a special and always over something really interesting) - and the most incredible selection of desserts, all fabulous. Try the prawn cobb, the meze platter, the pasta special - the fried chicken sandwich at lunch. And save room for dessert. I always check out the dessert case on my way in. We have a friend who usually shares but will not share the lemon merengue tart with gingersnap cookie crust. Once you taste it, neither will you! Well worth a trip to Danville.

The Peasant's Courtyard

Reviewed By Garrett D - Alamo, California

I have been eating at The Courtyard for years and make it a habit to have breakfast there at least once a week when the weather is nice. The staff is very friendly and greet many customers by name. The courtyard is by far the nicest in Alamo with a lovely fountain and tall redwood trees. The food is tasty and wholesome, if not remarkable. But, the setting is what really makes this restaurant special.

Revel Kitchen and Bar

Lunch at Revel - started with awesome deviled eggs with truffle oil. On to amazing pulled pork tostadas (3 to an order) stacked with delicious stuff like onions and citrusy aioli. Then we shared lamb sliders and fried chicken sliders which were also very good. They have a pretty decent wine list and a full bar. The service was superb. Lots of street parking nearby.

Piatti Danville

Ristorante Piatti features a menu with recipes complimenting the various regions of Italy. It has a casual yet sparkling atmosphere with authentic regional Italian cuisine. Piatti's success can be attributed to its staff and its approach to food, wine, and the dining experience.

Reviewed By 58Tinlady - San Ramon, California

Two friends took me for a birthday dinner on 01/03. I've visited Piatti's before and was very excited to go again. However, it seemed as though our waiter was just not into working that evening. We had to search for him several times and he was just plan unhappy. The food was okay but his attitude pretty much overshadowed the entire experience. Just too bad is all.

after being seated , we waited, had to go back to hostess for service, table behind us was excessively loud, short ribs were very fatty, the mushroom risotto had sat under a heating light and was luke warm , also, In my opinion was not worth $23.00. Others in our group were basically satisfied with their meals , maybe we were just under a bad star that evening !

Bridges Restaurant & Bar

California America with European/Asian influenced cuisine served in a casual~elegant setting.

Reviewed By FarmerRK - Moraga, California

We had lunch during the Xmas holidays at Bridges, restaurant was quite full with people celebrating. My husband had a hamburger and I had a shrimp salad. For dessert we had a chocolate cake. All the food was well prepared although the salad needed more dressing (I asked the server for more and she gladly provided it). The portions were ample; the dessert was on the small side. Service was good and efficient. Their prices are on the high side but it is worth going for special occasions.

Locanda Ravello

Reviewed By Suzy O - Lafayette, California

I have visited their sister restaurant in Danville and was thrilled to hear they were opening another location here. Lafayette has a lot of restaurants but this brings authentic Italian flavor at good prices. I went the day they first opened and loved the remodel of the old building - so fresh and bright. Service was a little rocky and the marinara sauce had come from a burnt pot but the owner was delightful and the food held promise. A few weeks later I had lunch there and the place was packed! It was well staffed and we sat right away. The bread is so good and they keep bringing more :) All our food was excellent with the burrata being the standout. Fabulous dessert - I can't remember the name but it had a hazelnut crunch. The owner was there again and personally greeted each table. This is a gem in Lafayette for ambiance, food, and service.

Forbes Mill Steakhouse - Danville

I've only been to Forbes Mill twice but the experiences were very pleasant. The service was exceptional. As I have matured, I am have learned to lean heavily on seasoned waiters for advice and counsel on wines and entrees. The two gentlemen I had were great to chat with and dialled me in on what I should order based upon what my stomach was craving.

Excellent food preparation and a great wine list. If they had soufflé for dessert, the restaurant would be equal to a Morton's or Flemings.

This is a great place for either a high-end date or a business dinner. I wish they had more booths. But, I'm old-fashioned that way.

On the weekends you definitely need a reservation but during the week I have not found it to be an issue to just walk in.

Enjoy!

Sideboard

Reviewed By LaBernardi - California/Italy

A Danville “institution”, the Sideboard offers standards with a twist and maintains its fans by keeping certain items in the menu that render it pitch perfect for the young crowd. Check out the blue cheese potato chip appetizer which manages to charm even the most doubtful of parent visitors. Great salads that allow the gluten free to celebrate. After numerous visits, I recommend avoiding peak times in which one finds oneself standing in a line crowding over diners with breakfast and their doggies slobbering over the water bowl. So Saturday and Sunday brunch!! Uggh. Weekday off times are best. Still, though, a Danville classic well worthy of a visit.
