Everyone we met in the area spontaneously recommended Cucci's Pizzeria as the place to eat. I'd had meals here many, many years ago but had forgotten how good it was.
We needed to seat a table of 16 so called ahead. When we said we had a large group, they responded that all their large group rooms were taken and this was on a Monday night. Apparently they don't consider 16 a large group. They were packed but had plenty of staff to cover the needs and then some. They had lined up tables so we were all seated banquet style. Of note, they did not automatically attach the customary tip for a large group. How refreshing and I believe they received more because of it.
We were seated immediately, drink orders were taken and shortly thereafter meal orders. We were able to split the checks. The staff was organized and friendly. First many of us made our way to the salad bar. The offerings were fresh and generous with a wide selection of dressings. I ordered the chicken parmesan despite being turned off of it at a NY restaurant. Cucci's redeemed the dish for me. A large chicken cutlet, breaded and fried to perfection sit on a bed of spaghetti and marinara sauce. It was impossible to eat it all, take out boxes were provided. Refills of drinks were frequent.
Whether you go for the pizza, sandwiches, salads, turnovers, or pastas, Cucci's is the place for you. They were voted top 10 in Virginia's best pizza.

The Ice Cream Store is a sit-down, made to order, restaurant. We serve all beef hot dogs, hamburgers and cheese burgers, hand-pulled pork barbeque with our homemade sauces. We also have chicken salad croissants and fries that are "Air Fried" with no grease and no trans fats to worry about. Hershey Hand-dipped Ice Cream is also served in cones, cups and hand-spun into shakes. We even have sundaes and have been known to make a few banana splits.
Just around the corner we found a small ice cream shop serving 20+ flavors of Hershey's Ice Cream, plus small sandwich baskets.
We went with BBQ, which the server says is homemade. This is served with a few different flavors of BBQ sauce and was pretty good. The fries were hot and crispy and even though they came out of the freezer, they tasted fresh.
Now ~ the ice cream. We tasted plenty of flavors on the bitty spoons and ended up with Orange Dreamsicle and Rocky Road in sugar cones. Delicious.
The place is clean, and small with just a few tables, but you can take your ice cream and walk around the downtown. The server/cook was very nice and personable and the place had steady traffic for a Sunday night.

What a friendly place! And interesting and good menu selections. Perhaps the choices are not as healthy as they can be, but the salad bar was good (fresh tomatoes from their garden!) and grilled prime rib was excellent. The service quite exceeded any and all expectations. I plan to go back as soon as I can.

This little unassuming place, situated in a small strip mall in a tiny Virginia town, serves sandwiches as good or better than I've had anywhere. Ever. The owner and staff are welcoming and friendly. The casual restaurant is neat and clean. But the star is the food. We shared a meatball sub and a sausage and pepper sub. The meatballs were tender and flavorful, covered by a terrific marinara and melted cheese that covered the entire length of the sun. We selected provolone, however there were other choices. The sausage and pepper sub was built with sliced Italian sausages, sautéed peppers and onions, again in a terrific sauce which was offered in Mild, Medium or Hot. We elected to go with the Medium and again chose provolone as the cheese, which was perfectly melted over the whole length of the roll. The ROLLS were so fresh, soft and warm with a slight crust. Definitely quality bread. I have not had better in the North End of Boston or in NYC. The fries were hot and good. The onion rings exceptional. Don't miss this gem if you are in the area. They are closed on Tuesday's so keep that in mind. This is a real "keeper"!

Not the best and definitely not a 5 but it is good Mexican food. We stopped as we were passing by on camping trip on Cinco. Have to have Mexican and a margarita on Cinco. It was packed and very busy and loud inside. But the service was good and the food and prices were good. I would recommend this place. It's looks like a dump from highway but not as bad inside. I hade combo 22 and my wife had shrimp Fajitas, both were good. Margaritas were not the best, not homemade that is for sure.

While visiting family, we ate lunch at this beautiful old home in Covington, VA. The service is friendly and the food very good. Locals love this place and everyone knows each other, chat among the tables, greet everyone. A small, friendly, place to meet and eat.

Downtown Diner is exactly what you remember a diner was supposed to be! Friendly, no frills, good food at an amazing price. We were so tickled to stumble onto this place traveling back to Kentucky. The lady working was taking care of the whole place -- a couple tables and multiple take out orders. She was kind and took good care of us. The food tasted just like homemade. I ordered the 3-salad plate with chicken salad, green salad and egg salad. The plating was nicer than I anticipated and it was all as good as if my momma made it. The prices were exceptional, especially my husband's meal. (He may have gotten a ribeye sandwich?).

We stopped here on our 9 hour road trip. The staff was extremely friendly. We enjoyed the lunch buffet which had lots of food including:stuffed peppers, chicken legs, sausage, soup, salad bar, French toast, macaroni and cheese, buttered noodles, and dessert bar. Price was $11.99 for adults and $6.99 for kids 5 and under eat free. The rest of the group ordered from the menu and also liked their sandwiches. They had very nice and clean facilities as well.
