The food was superb. An excellent example of creative cooking. The lobster appetizer was very creative with separate pieces prepared in different ways. I had the "Marrow bone" which I thought was a Osso Buco, but this was much better. The veal was cooked with carrots and spices and had a wonderful flavor. My wife had a fist, rombo, that was excellent, as she allowed me a taste, with excellent sauces. The wine list is is long and mostly expensive, but with several wines below 30 euro. We had a "Vertigo" from Friuli that was really good. The bread was a rare treat. Excellently made at the restaurant, several different types. Really good places have really good bread. This place had superb bread. OK, it was pricey, but this is one of the best places we ever ate at.

Recommended in the most prestigious cooking guides, the Baita Fraina Restaurant goes hand in hand with professionalism and quality. The two brothers Adolfo and Alessandro Menardi run the restaurant with their wives Anna and Tiziana. The restaurant has 3 rooms and a Terrace where you can sit back and enjoy their cooking while gazing over the Tofane and the 5 Torri mountain groups. It has an excellent wine list with over 600 choices, specially selected grappa drinks and whiskeys. There is a room available to hire for private dinners and parties and also six comfortable bedrooms.

Rifugio Ristorante Ospitale is closed until further notice
We stayed several nights at Rifugio Ospitale during off season, to enjoy nearby nature and Mountains. This is great location, in close proximity to Cortina, Lago di Misurina, etc.
It has only 6 rooms, or so, it was very quite and pleasant to stay there.
Restaurant on the ground floor is excellent, we enjoyed great local food and service. Breakfasts were superb as well: everything was fresh and tasty.
Large guests parking. As the place is popular among locals, for dinners reservation is recommended.

Like almost every shop in Cortina is overpriced compared to the quality. I went inside only once and the staff looked almost annoyed I have entered. Bread and pizza are ok, but pastries are small and expensive. History does not make a shop good by definition.
Not recommended.

We were a group of 8 so we when we arrived in for dinner on a quiet evening the locals dining downstairs were quite happy when we were escorted up to a private room upstairs. Our waitress, Georgia, made valuable wine recommendations. It turns out she was a member of the Italian National Curling Team that twice almost made it to the olympics.
OH yeah... the food. It was great. Not cheap but worth every Euro. Setting was nice next to the frozen lake but must be even better in the summer. Very isolated and quiet.
They have their own Grappa blends some of which I could almost like (not a Grappa fan).

A well-appointed and friendly restaurant not far from the centre, on the road leading up to Passo Tre Croci and Misurina. Chef Fabio awaits you to taste the dishes of his typical local cooking, and "fusion", with some delicious international ideas too. All of course accompanied by a well-structured wine list. Our restaurant is available for ceremonies, business lunches or dinners, private parties. Catering Service on request. Open every day for lunches and dinners. During the low season closed on Wednesdays.
No haste. Just good food. Good service. Good fun. What more do you need? His place offers the best of northern and southern Italian cuisine. Wiener schnitzel with a side is spaghetti bolognese, no problem! Just great. Don’t speak Italian, no problem. No bs. Wait staff are fluent in almost all European languages along with good ole American! Finally a place where us yanks are welcome and appreciated. (Can you say Paris?).
Anyway definitely go here if you end up in Cortina. Watch out for Roger and his Lotus!

It was quiet when we arrived, but within minutes the restaurant filled up with tourists and locals alike. Service was very efficient and there was a good selection of dishes on the menu. The food was delicious and I would especially recommend the 'Cappuccino' desert.

This place is truly magical especially on a very mild winters day looking over the Mountains and the ski fields
The food is amazing as good as any michelin star had the spaghetti alla vodka and the meat with mustard and finished with the strudel
Simply outstanding.

In the bend of a beautiful mountain road is a charming chalet-style restaurant that is unapologetically German/Austrian. The food is very good. The house mixed antipasto featuring venison carpaccio, a duo of pates, orange chutney, smoked salmon, lardo and other delicacies was special. Shrimp cocktail with yellow pepper pure was beautifully garnished with mountain wildflowers. My speck-wrapped Guinea fowl, stuffed with mushrooms was also outstanding. My companion was pleased with her house-made schweinerworst that was accompanied with wonderfully prepared fresh mushrooms. We were too full to try dessert, but coffee and cappuccino was good. Waitstaff is multilingual and helpful. Location is special and Lago Scin, which is in front of the restaurant is stocked with large trout--perhaps a dish to order next time.

We visited Baita Pie Tofana after hiking down from Tofana. Baita is restaurant and only for dining and it is pricey.
The menu looks excellent with numerous wine options. Materials are superb (the deer was excellent) and display (check the pictures) artistic.
But there are just too much salt (even in the salad), varied & mixed tastes etc.
For the price I eould have expected better taste experience.
