Nado Gelato is in a very easy-to-access location just off of Orange. We really appreciate their unique flavors and the love they put into their homemade gelato. It is difficult to decide which was our favorite, so we decided we must stop by to try different flavors at least 2-3 days a week :-) We also bought some very special hot chocolate mix for our very special daughter-in-law.

Burger Lounge

The Burger Lounge ethos is centered on creating a burger you can feel better about eating. It begins with 100% fresh single source American grass fed beef. We believe that a hamburger should not only taste great, it should also utilize healthy ingredients produced in a sustainable environment. Burger Lounge offers a simple menu utilizing the mindful procurement of ingredients that appeal to health conscious diners, vegetarians, salad lovers and those simply “hankering for a great hamburger.” We take the time to know our growers and producers. These partners share our values of authenticity and simplicity. They care deeply about the quality of their products and environmental stewardship. It means better and more nutritious food for our guests. Our burgers, from The Lounge Burger made with fresh 100% grass-fed beef; to the Free-Range Turkey Burger made with Shelton Farms turkey; to the Organic Quinoa Veggie Burger created from organic quinoa, brown rice, zucchini, garbanzo, carrot, corn, and chipotle; are offered with organic American cheese or organic aged white cheddar, fresh or grilled onion, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato and house-made 1000 Island dressing. Finally, our Lounge Bun, made with a blend of organic wheat and white flour with a hint of molasses delivers the perfect combination of flavor, texture and temperature. You can also enjoy fine dining quality, truly healthy salads. Not your normal “burger joint salads,” these formidable and nutritionally robust salads include baby romaine, kale, spinach, arugula, organic quinoa, grilled corn, zucchini, red onion, jicama, tomato and a choice of house-made dressings. Fresh-cut French fries, house-made onion rings, scratch-made dipping sauces and simple desserts round out a perfect menu for any appetite.Since we opened the first Burger Lounge in 2007, we believe that it is about “doing a common thing uncommonly well.” As a small but fast growing restaurant organization, we represent a new take on an industry that has long suffered from gimmickry, poor quality, over processed food products and inadequate guest service. We embrace these genuine ideals and mindful environmental practices throughout our organization. With the opening of our Del Mar location in April of 2013 and a late Spring opening of Brentwood in Los Angeles, Burger Lounge continues to satisfy Southern California diners’ and their insatiable appetite for affordable hand-crafted food and superior guest service.

We first discovered the Burger Lounge several years ago on our first visit to San Diego. After many return visits we still enjoy the Burger Lounge - this time on Coronado Island. Everyone’s had burgers but nothing compares to those served up by the Burger Lounge. Simply amazing flavor! The fries and onion rings are delicious, too! If I could make burgers like these at home I’d eat them everyday!

I loved the diner atmosphere and the food was great! The servers, the cooks, and the cleaning lady were all hustlin', make me appreciate their work ethic.

I ordered the veggie scrambler and my husband ordered eggs benedict, both were delicous and definitely hefty servings. We arrived at 10:00 am on a Tuesday and only had to wait 5 minutes for a table.

My only concern is one of the servers had long hair and it was in a ponytail. While I thankfully didn't find any hair in my food, I'd have better piece of mind if they all had their hair pulled into a bun. That's a personal patron's preference, I guess, so I still gave this establishment five stars because the food was good, the bathrooms were clean, and the staff was hard-working.

Planned an anniversary dinner for the most amazing woman in the world while visiting Coronado for Easter week. Quiet ambiance, understated decor. Friendly staff was super-helpful, allowed me to come by while they were closed to drop off flowers for the table - thanks, Alex!

Wine list was great, the duck was tender and outstanding, and the bride’s Chilean sea bass was wonderful. April provided great service. If it’s not the best meal on the island, I’d be surprised.

Islander

At Islander our concept is simple: fresh seafood, local beer in a laid back atmosphere catering to casual diners. You can spend a little for a single tacone (our spin on the fish taco) or more if you desire a complete grilled fish dinner, like local caught California sea bass or local halibut. Several years ago our family was exploring Puget Sound and since we were in the Pacific Northwest, a notorious seafood capital, we sought out the best seafood meals available. We ventured into Victoria, British Columbia, and dined at Red Fish Blue Fish, a seafood restaurant located on a pier in Victoria's harbor. The food was incredible and, having been born and raised in San Diego, we knew there was no seafood quite as delicious in our area. We immediately decided to bring the food to San Diego in the Gaslamp. Now we are bringing the same delicious food to Coronado! Our signature dish is a tacone - consisting of a grilled flour tortilla, house made chipotle avocado sauce, roasted pumpkin seed slaw, lime pickled jicama and onions, cilantro and your choice of seafood, including local California sea bass, local halibut, local yellowtail, swordfish, salmon or shrimp. We then roll this into the shape of a cone -- taco in the shape of a cone -- tacone. For our grilled fish plates, we hand cut each portion from large filets, grill it to medium rare (or to your liking), season it with your choice of lemon dill butter, Cajun seasoning or salt and pepper, top it with mango salsa and serve it with cilantro lime rice and steamed vegetables. Another specialty is our fish and chips. We use the same portion as for a grilled fish plate, hand dip the fresh fish into tempura (lighter than beer batter) and fry it to golden brown. Our fries are hand cut from Kennebec potatoes, cooked for a short time at low oil temperature, frozen overnight, then fried again the following day at high temperature and tossed in kosher salt. The result is an amazingly crispy fry. This is served with a side of roasted pumpkin seed slaw with our house made lemon Dijon sauce.

As a fish taco aficionado, when I see a $4 fish taco, I have pretty low expectations, to say the least! So to say I was very surprised when they brought my 2 fish tacos, with 2 huge pieces of perfectly cooked Polluck (you can also get salmon), would be an understatement! Light and flaky fish, a wonderful sauce with a hint of spice, and loaded with wonderful cabbage and salsa made this one the best fish tacos I have ever eaten! Pair it with one their large glasses of craft beer ($5) and some of their must have Kennebec fries (some of the best fries I've ever had, and they serve it with a side of homemade curry ketchup, and the regular stuff too), and you have an amazing meal that will leave you full, and very happy! So much so I had to go back the next day! This will be a permanent stop of my future San Diego/Coronado trips! Be aware though that happy hours isn't traditional hours and runs from 2:30 to 4:30! And although quite casual, there are some higher end offerings on the regular menu that looked great coming out of the kitchen! Also service was outstanding! Both days my food came out within 10 min of ordering, and served with a smile!

I have Celiac Disease and must adhere to a strict gluten-free diet; this restaurant has a separate gluten-free menu and were well-versed in cross-contamination. They can make fresh gluten-free corn tortillas. Avoid the Spanish rice if you’re gluten-free. Good experience. Food was not amazing quality - has somewhat of a fast-service-vibe, but was decent and Celiac-safe.

Came here because it walking distance from our hotel. Clientele ranged from couple to groups of friends to family's. My wife enjoyed the kale salad and I had the pork chop. Not sure why I ordered pork chop as I'm usually disappointed but I liked it here. It was thick and juicy with plenty of flavor. Our waitress seem to have an off day as she was minimally around and didn't seem to be in the best mood. again, She wasn't bad to us, just seem to have a bad day. The waitress serving the table next to us was very attentive. Or Maybe our waitress WAS disappointed that we didn't order still because I don't drink and my wife is pregnant. Who knows. Not worth docking a star over it when other tables are clearly getting normal service

Crown Room Brunch at Hotel del Coronado

A true feast for the senses, the lavish Sunday brunch in the Crown Room features a chilled seafood bar, regionally inspired dishes, international cuisine and carving stations. Guests also enjoy a gourmet Bloody Mary bar, made-to-order mimosas, and a spectacular candy and dessert bar. See what makes Sunday brunch at The Del legendary.

Reviewed By sonostrov - Boise, Idaho

Please notice that my review is only about food ( brunch) not about the hotels.
$150 per person without wine ( they do have mimosas etc) is expensive by all means. For comparisons we had a 6 course meal in expensive Amsterdam with good wine for about this much. So pricey for sure.
The food was abundant like every buffet but average for my taste sushi was a disappointment. It is a small station but the quality is low. Perhaps part of my disappointment was the expectations were not met.
However the hotel is beautiful , the room is nice. We went for a special family occasion. Would I do it again? No. I am sure there are better places in San Diego.
