The restaurant was recommended by our B&B and we were not disappointed: the owner was incredibly helpful - not just translating but also explaining all the dishes on the menu (ca 15 which seem to change regularly).
Also, on both occasions we were the only tourists visiting; the restaurant being packed with locals (after 9pm).
The food is traditional Portuguese and yes, basic / rustic but very tasty. And incredible value for money - we visited twice and never paid more than 25 EUR for the two of us (starter, mains, dessert & wine)! The portions are generous, so would suggest to trust the owners' recommendations on how many dishes to order :-)
Will certainly visit again when we're in Coimbra!!

We came here for dinner the other night. There are only 6 tables in the restaurant so if you don't want to wait, I advise you come early. We ordered the serra da estrela cheese, chanfana (goat braised in red wine) and red wine. The wine came in a pitcher which was roughly the size of 3/4 of a bottle of wine and was not bad. The cheese was excellent, white with a mild flavor, soft but spreadable. The goat, which is served in an earthen crock, however, was extremely flavorful and tender. The ever-present boiled potatoes and greenery accompany the main dish. Don't ignore the braising sauce, ladle it over your potatoes and dip your bread in it, so good! We were quite happy with our meal, which came out to be around 23 euro.

I had Tuna with vegetables and it was excellent! Very well cooked and served.
The starters - shrimp on garlic & alheira with smoked ham, honey and melon - were also very interesting and tastefully. The recommended wine was also excellent and the service 5 *.
The place itself is nice for both dinner at 2 or to groups.
One wouldn't say this place is cheap by looking at the menu but considering everything I feel it is far from being expensive. One of the best places in Coimbra, at minimum!

Good food, near the center with traditional portuguese cuisine at a cheap price. Had a very good codfish. Check the daily options with the waiter and try the portuguese wine.

Good size busy restaurant specializing in Leitao but a wide menu with other meat and fish dishes is available. The quality of the Leitao is very good. Deliciously roasted, soft meat, crispy skin, few bones. Freshly home made potato crisps & salad to go with it. A wide variety of sparkling wine to wash it down with is available at reasonable prices.
Some staff are very friendly and some not so. Practically all guests are locals and complete extended families come to lunch or dine here. Good atmosphere. Recommended.

With a strongly regional cuisine marked by the mountain countryside , we selected for you the best that exists in traditional products. The roasted lamb duly accompanied by roasted potatoes and boiled greens, a Condeixa specialty. Always with selected ingredients from local farmers and producers. We like to provide you with the fantastic taste of home cooking. O Regional do Cabrito | Here you taste the best portuguese goatling.
We came across the restaurant by chance but were attracted by the menu and the number of regular patrons. The menu is great featuring a range of local dishes which was perfectly complemented by the local house wine served in a terracotta jug.
Really superb value.
Highly recommended.

Restaurant where you can have a very good meal and taste a good wine.
What a wonderful experience! Not really knowing when they opened, we were 15 minutes prior but they kindly let us in out of the cold and we had time to peruse the extensive wine list. We picked one of the more expensive bottles, €18(!),...MoreThanks for visiting and for sharing your experience with us. We hope see you soon. Best regards!
