The building was built in the 1800s, originally a church. It's located next to a supermarket and opposite a church with a tall steeple. Waiter's called Hannes.
What a gem the Platterlander is for people stopping over in Colesberg, although I’m sure the locals love it too. Quaint in its decor, with a fair amount of Seating both upstairs and downstairs, this a lovely restaurant that is well worth a visit. The service was excellent in both its friendliness and the sufficient time taken to serve our order. For vegetarians the vegetable curry is recommended, while I found the lamb chops quite wonderful.

We were only in Colesberg for a night and were recommended Bordeaux for dinner. A great choice! A restaurant full of character with local jams and preserves for sale and displayed on shelves by the bar. We enjoyed a Greek salad and a chicken burger from the extensive menu. Service was spot on and friendly. It was a really nice welcome to Colesberg and won't be quick forgotten.

What a delightful B&B in Colesberg. Our room was spacious and comfortable with an adequate bathroom. The décor is slightly dated but still in good condition. The adjoining restaurant is nice and we enjoyed some delicious lamb chops here. This is a cosy spot to stay over on your journey.

From the ambiance and decor we expected more. The food was disappointing. Pasta was stoggy and overcooked. Bolognaise sauce was too sweet. The butternut soup portion was too little. My husband said the lamb chops were OK, but the portion was also a bit little, with 2 chops and veg at R130. Having said this, the staff is friendly and the manager came over to check whether everything was OK. There is nice music and a great atmosphere. The secret is probably to find the dish that works for you.

Perfect stop for breakfast, just off the N1 in Colesberg. This quaint coffee & gift shop serves a perfect flat white. The range of cakes looked so good, i almost had a slice with my breakfast. The gift shop is worth a snoop around. Off street parking is available behind the building, if you need to keep an eye on your load. Enjoy!
