Cafe Routier is ultimately consistent with great service and fine food and a trendy atmosphere. The coolest thing is the 3 panel menu: monthly choices (changes 12 times per year), seasonal (changes 4 times per year), and their specialties (always there). The best thing is the house made fries and dipping sauce - get them while you decide. Seems strange but they're outa this world. I always get the steak frite; awesome steak and fries. But their fish and other dishes are all great. The bar makes good craft cocktails (the Vesper martini is a must). Worth the trip anytime!

If you're a donut person, this is a must try. A bit more dense and hearty than your standard donut (compared to Dunkin Donuts or Crispy Creme). Great donuts!

Casual dining coffee shop featuring Breakfast Specials. Lunch features Panini Sandwiches, Wraps and Soups. Friday is Lobster Bisque Day! Open everyday except holidays.
I arrange for 10 friends to meet for a breakfast birthday here, had heard good things about the new location. I had called ahead to reserve a table in their very nice dining room, lovely local watercolors adorn the room.Table was ready, I grabbed some menus as this was a self serve
place,so wanted to have my friends ready to order when they arrived, counter service only.
The crustless quiche looked good but they only had one piece left, said there was more in the oven, since they knew there was a crowd coming, one would think they would have planned more food available.2 ladies went to the old site, web needs to be updated with new address.
Egg sandwiches were good, cranberry date nut bread very moist and good, coffee is served in large glass mugs but no refills, extra charge! The waitress did bring our the food to our table and asked if all was alright, too bad t he owner did not take the time to come out and greet her new customers.Maybe too busy, never saw her.
I would return for that quiche but not with a crowd.Room was lovely and spacious, hope they
do well in their new location, good to support the locals.

Inspired by the neighborhood bistros of Lyon, France—known as bouchons—our menu features authentic French bistro classics with prices that are as comforting as the food. The fare covers bistro basics from Croque Monsieur to Sole Meuniere, Cassoulet to Steak Tartare, and be sure to check the board for Daily Seasonal additions. But it’s not just about great comfort food, we are known for our “barman’s” innovative cocktails and for our carefully selected and reasonably priced wine list, with a wide range of selections by the glass. Whether you “just want a little something” or you want to satisfy a hungry appetite, Bar Bouchée is a Francophile’s delight.
Run by a lovely French couple this is Paris in Madison. Steak and moules frites with delicious wine made for a lovely quiet dinner. Pate with cornichons and cheese was simple and expected and delicious. The risotto is fantastic and the serving size is huge. Made fresh while you wait and you know this for you view the chef in the kitchen stirring away. Such a surprise in a Connecticut coastal town.

Live shellfish to take home: lobsters, muscles, steamers, clams, and oysters. Quick and ready to eat hot lobster rolls, sausage peppers and onions, and hot dogs.
At the suggestion of a friend we stopped at lobster landing for the lobster roll. This is basically an outside stand under a tent with outside seating under the tent and on a deck by the water. The places serves 3 items. (1) Lobster roll (2) Sausage sandwich with peppers and onions (3) hot dogs. They also have small bags of chips and cans of soda. The lobster roll was $17 the sausage sandwich $7 and the hot dog $3 something. We tried all three. All three teams come on a grilled hotdog roll. The lobster roll is a hotdog roll stuffed with lobster and melted butter. The lobster was fresh and excellent. The other 2 sucked. The sausage was over cooked and had a bad flavor. It was tough and the peppers tasted like they had been sitting in water for a week. The hot dog was equally bad!! ( how do you mess up a hot dog??? ) well anyway the lobster roll was delicious and I would recommend it but only that . This place was a little off the beaten path as well so I am sure you can find a lobster roll of equal quality with a better selection somewhere in the Connecticut /Massachusetts area!!! I would only recommend this place if you are not going out of your way and only for the lobster roll. The service was good and the staff was excellent.

After all these years, the restaurant is still excellent. The service was great, the menu is varied, the room is pretty ... and the food was excellent.
The server was this big burley guy who couldn’t have been more helpful. Nice, friendly, knew the menu in and out. In fact I made a mistake, he walked back into the kitchen and had the kitchen make my mistake. So nice!
All 5 meals were excellent. Just a great night out.

Rocky's Aqua is located in Cedar Island Marina overlooking Clinton Harbor, Cedar Island and Long Island Sound. Enjoy the never ending activity with the constant boat traffic, the southwesterly trade winds on one of our two beautiful decks.
My wife and I have always wanted to have dinner at Aqua Turf ever since we looked at a property to buy nearby. We stopped in one night for a quick bite and had a great dinner. Recommend lobster and my wife had salmon, she...MoreGlad to hear of your positive experience at the restaurant! Luckily, the views are just as beautiful throughout the fall months as they are in the summer! Please come back to enjoy a meal soon as we remain open through December! See you soon!

Operated by Culinary Chefs offering traditional American, gourmet, and international breakfast and lunch.
Everyone who was having their breakfast/lunch/brunch was so content. I have never heard so many complements thrown at two short-order cooks in their tiny space behind the counter, in this small, narrow restaurant, (probably the width of a train car, and no longer) with one row of tables, opposite and parallel to a lunch counter, with a sunny entrance and the frenetic bustle of 3 waitresses running around meeting everyone's needs.
A little gem on this Sunday around noon, when they close at one.

The Clam Castle is one of the best seafood restaurants in the Old Saybrook, Westbrook, Madison and Clinton. You order at the counter and pick up your food. Tables are inside or outside. It has a wide range of seafood. For instance, my wife had RI clam chowder with a lobster roll and I had clam chowder & an order of oysters and we split an order of sweet potato fries. Everything was good. Fish is always going to be the high priced item no matter where you go. So, everything is in moderation.
Good food with good service and a quiet lunch. A good summertime afternoon lunch.
A nice placed !
