The food and service was great. The steak I had was as good as any other I have had. My wife had grilled shrimp and she raved how good it was. The menu was fairly extensive. A great restaurant in a small town. Would recommend!

While visiting Clarinda we ate at the Ice House twice, ordering burgers, salads, and beer both times. Food was consistently good and service was excellent! Bar and restaurant areas have several TV screens if you are looking to watch sports.

Traveling through and found the ratings on trip advisor this place exceeds the ratings that it was given. The architecture here is awesome, chairs and sofas are very comfortable. Lots of variety of reading materials, puzzles & games I had the chicken salad it was very good and so was their tea for the day. Will definitely be back!

We ate at J's three times when in Clarinda for the Glenn Miller Festival and had good food all three times. They were busy so service was a bit slow but overall good choice. Our waitress was accommodating with refills, etc. I'd question the 8 pm closing weekdays during the festival since so many people are in town.

I was in the area visiting family, and they suggested lunch at this restaurant. They were very enthusiastic about it (a small chain out of Omaha) and it does seem to have a good local following. As most chains now have some type of vegetarian option I was happy to try them out.
Once we got there I realized that I would not be eating a full meal. None of the sandwiches were vegetarian and all the salads were full of meat as well. I could have ordered one, but hate to pay $6-7 for a salad when half the ingredients are missing. I ended up eating onion rings (not bad) & a few of my mother's curly fries (average). My Mom did have a sandwich, but didn't finish it. She said it was "ok, but too many onions".
As there aren't a lot of options in this small town I can see why the locals enjoy Runza, but as a vegetarian I won't be back.

In the morning , I had the Pigy 3 omelet w/ hashbrowns, toast and coffee for about $8.50 Staff was quite courteous and service was good - I picked my seating and quickly recieved a cup of coffee .i had missed the morning crowd and had the place about to my self - food arrived promptly and was delicious - i was able to ask plenty of questions as this place is also a bakery and everything is made from scratch - I picked up some homemade bread, strawberry / lemon muffins couple packages of some cookies and some donuts
They are open 6-2 Tues-Sat for breakfast and lunch. I had breakfast but came back fro lunch as they had a special burger of the month that intrigued me - The Italian Mozzaroni Burger - consisted of 1/3# burger , pepperoni, spaghetti sauce, mozzarella sticks and spinach $7 or $9 w/side - It was quite different and excellent - service was good and prices comparable.
They had a new lighter option sandwich today. It was the week's special and included a grilled chicken sandwich on a fresh made-from-scratch wheat hoagie with lettuce, tomato, and mayo and a hearty serving of homemade soup for only S 7.50.

My friend and I stopped in Clarinda whilst driving though south-west Iowa on a road trip. We stopped for lunch at around 2pm and the only place open was J's. I had a burger which was fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. The lady serving was extremely friendly and helpful and chatted to us for some time, answering our many questions about the town and the area and providing advice about things to see and do locally. I thoroughly recommend J's and would happily eat there again if i'm ever in Clarinda.

Nice buffet in SW Iowa. Two kinds of crab Rangoon, very good, egg rolls, 2 soups, rice, general's chicken, salt and pepper breaded shrimp was really good, beef and broccoli, several desserts, lots of good choices.

As Subway's go, this restaurant is typical. Service is good, and the folks are friendly. Easy access to two nearby motels and the hospital. Great for people on the go, especially when attending the Glenn Miller Festival!
