Joe will spoil you as you enjoy your meal on our private deck, watching the pelicans play on the stunning Back Bayou.
We ate on the patio, not fancy but cute. We met 2 other couples, everyone is friendly, just ask 'where are you all from' and find out what a small world it is. Ate eggs and oatmeal, friend had the crab quiche and she said it was good but not like the best she ever had. Friendly staff, good food, loved the little cottage like feel of the patio.

Stopped in for breakfast while in town. Small selection of donuts and breakfast sandwich's. Had a Bacon/Egg/Cheese biscuit and a muffin and it was about $8. Biscuit was a good size and plenty filling. Staff was very friendly. Only 4 tables inside, and a counter outside to eat at. Street parking, but it does have a handicap ramp for access.

My wife and I drove from Orlando because we heard of the 3 time champion clam chowder. Excellent taste unlike any chowder we've had. The bowl could have been a little bigger but I recommend making a day trip to Cedar Key and grabbing a bowl. Their seafood is good too. I had the seafood platter and unfortunately I couldn't finish it all, it was a lot of food!!

Tucked onto Dock Street, this store offers traditional beach knick knacks including hats, shirts, shells, comical signs, keychains, etc. etc. it also serves the best ice cream on the Island (32 flavors) and Chicago-style hot dogs. Good for a quick snack.

The hotel opened its dining room a tad early for us eager Sunday evening diners (closer to 5 than 5:30 p.m.). Lucky us! We relaxed in the pretty room that had obviously been entertaining guests for many decades (or more!). A number of contemporary works of art brightened the candle lit decor and a good sound system surrounded us with classical, mostly piano, music. We chose a moderately priced half carafe of Chardonnay while our proficient server Jo brought us appetizers: the rightfully touted crab chowder (tasty and creamy) and a dozen Cedar Key clams steamed in savory garlic broth. Next were a bowl of the chef's creation of the day - an excellently textured black bean soup - and, a very pleasant garden salad with an excellent house-made ranch dressing. Our entrees were a cheese and crab stuffed redfish, and a really great filet mignon cooked "Pittsburg" style (blackened on top and bottom, tender and red inside). Well chosen sides of rice and perfectly cooked broccoli medley vegetables accompanied the plates. For dessert we ordered the key lime pie which we understand was once featured in Southern Living magazine; it was a classic recipe on a Graham crust with tiny dots of decorative whipped cream. This restaurant did a great job of delivering nicely special service and sustenance.

My wife and I wondered up to Steamers on Dock Street, not knowing what to expect, but thinking that the clams gotta be good. And were they good! Reasonably priced in a bowel of garlic and wine broth that was delicious. We have already been back for more.

We had eggs, toast, grits and bacon. Everything was cooked well. No extra imagination in the presentation. Service was OK. Price was expensive. We got the same breakfast the next day at Holy Moley's for about half the price. Holy Moley's has very limited seating. However, most people come in for doughnuts and coffee and do take out. So we were able to get a table.

Been to Cedar Key 4 times in the last few months.Great place in Cedar Key for Coffee and pastry's.One of the places you will remember and return to when in Cedar Key.Tastefully decorated and just plain cool. Vinyl on the record player off in the corner softly filling the shop with Patsy Cline. In a town that rolls up the streets at 9 pm and becomes a ghost Town at 9:01 pm its nice to find a coffee house that is open at 7am. You know when you need coffee. In the morning. And lo and behold its GOOD coffee.Have been in here a few times and always its a pleasant greeting and welcoming reception. With a smile at 7:30 am no less.Thank you 1842 grind..
