Good food and generous portions and well priced too. The interior decoration is a bit old and it was a bit hot inside when we visited. The staff very helpful so overall it is a good place to eat.

Visited several times for coffee and pastries, and once for a very tasty, great value lunch. Enjoyed sitting in the (occasional) sun on the Terrace at the back of the property, away from the square. Quiet, friendly, efficient service. Great soup - and some seriously strong local beer.

The grilled pork, grilled lamb chops, pork cheeks and stewed boar were all really tasty! I especially recommend the boar, and the cheeks were also good and unique. Also enjoyed the vegetable soup, tomato soup (traditional style here with bread ) and salads. Desserts were very nice! The wine list was special, with a lot of aged local wines, not something you see a lot of. I mean vintages from the 80's and 90's. As well as more recent stuff. All at very reasonable prices. All in all a very good restaurant. Staff was friendly and service was attentive. Worth the trip up and down the hill from Marvao proper.

The cod (bacaulhau) dorado, a cod, cheese and onion casserole, was out of this world. The gazpacho, which seemed to have a slight flavor of olives, was also very good. The restaurant is not far from the tourist information office.

A small, neat, clean below-street dining area (under the main hotel) next to a lovely patio garden sets the tone. the staff are gracious and helpful understanding the menu and selections. I personally have never tasted anything like their rustic (their own local version) tomato soup. Savory chunks of tomato with a poached egg right on top, fresh bread right in the soup and herbs....just not of this world! I thought I was in heaven as it was, but when they brought out the local lamb stew (also authentic) with the meat literally falling off the bone and freshly-boiled potatoes, herbs and vegetables adding their own heady flavors...the meal became perfect. I topped it off by sharing a chocolate crepe with ice cream. a meal to remember, adn the best I had my entire stay in Portugal!

I quite like their fixed menus - 3 courses at reasonable prices and featuring mostly local Alentejano cuisine. I especially remember the carne de porco à alentejana was grilled and seasoned well.
I thought the service was fine, though I went in the winter off-season with only a handful of tables filled.

When we called, the restaurant had not yet commenced dinner service (a peril of travelling with small children) but we were welcomed nonetheless and the manager took time to explain some house specialities to us which were not available elsewhere. One of those restaurants that just by looking at the menu, you know you'll like it. I just love when I look at it and I can't decide because I just want to try it all...

Chose this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews, and we weren't disappointed. We sampled the pork cheeks, fish and pork leg. We were pleased with all of these--I especially enjoyed the pork cheeks, but everything was tasty. Excellent value. Staff was friendly and efficient. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation, and were fortunate to snag a table on the outside. This small place fills up quickly; Reservations recommended.
