Staying in cabin close by and not many restaurants in this area to choose from for a meal so after reading reviews decided it was better than most other places around here. This place was very busy on Sunday afternoon so service was limited and quite slow, noisy in dining room, food was good but not the best Italian we ever had but ok good-I had the stuffed shells, Marina sauce seemed abit bland but shells/cheese good, my husband had lasagna which he stated was ok, bruschetta was not the usual expected --had black olives & cheese, wanted the traditional style. It was ok and not a bad dining experience but probably would not go back, nothing special here

My husband & I visited last Saturday and had an amazing time. We were greeted as soon as we stepped in the door, seated within seconds and introduced to our server for the night right away. The ambience that night was amazing, candlelit, clean and quiet although there were quite a few other full tables. We ordered and were served at a great pace. I ordered the vodka penne and hubby ordered the ravioli. We both loved it & finished it all. Great restaurant! Would recommend to anyone looking for a great Italian meal in a friendly & clean place.

Stopped in for Saturday breakfast as we has heard raves about "the big pancakes". And they were right. They actually use pizza boxes for folks to take leftovers. I had the eggs and corned beef hash. Also well worth it. The omelets were very tasty with a decent amount of filling. My daughter had the biscuits and gravy and while they might not transport you to Georgia they are very good for upstate NY.

Kirkland's King Eagle Diner is located at 36481 State Route 26, Carthage, NY 13619. Across the street from Carthage High School. If you get lost call the number above.
Food is good, never know when they'll be open though!!!! Seems to vary. Doesn't work for me.. If you decide at the spur of the moment to go out for dinner or lunch or breakfast and you drive there to find that for some reason they are NOT open it only took us 1 time to do that! Then someone said you have to call for reservations to eat dinner and we tried that on a Friday night at 5 pm and got an answering machine!?! Not a very good way to run a customer service oriented business. Make your hours and be there early and stay late. build your clientel, not discourage them!

So a few of the reviewers were put off by the owners brusque manner. She is a bit brusque but no more so than most New York/New Englanders. I did not find her her rude or "the soup nazi" as others have alleged. Just direct. And after she warms up she even borders on almost friendly.
The restaurant. 3 tables. Short hours. They often run out of menu items. Today the lemongrass soup was gone when I arrived, in fairness about 1:40 on a Saturday. All three tables were occupied when I stepped in so I asked the owner if I could get something to go or wait on a table (one table was clearly finished and just talking) to which she announced to the room that I could join one of the tables if they didn't mind. A couple asked me to st with them. Very European like dining experience. Turned out to be great conversation in a small town that ranged from the history of canals in upstate NY to the current state of Watertown economic development to the tragedy that is Syracuse basketball not being in the Big East to Ulysses S Grant's time in the North Country. Delightful company.
The food. Fantastic and eclectic. I had one of the two daily specials. Mine was the Azerbaijani Chicken with pomegranate and walnuts over basmati rice. Really tasty. And a huge portion.
Good, interesting food in a cozy atmosphere served up in try New England/York ambiance.
Don't miss it.

We were first greeted by, "Are you here to eat?" Are you serious? We then sat in the "dining area" and it took a little to get a waitress. The wine menu is not extensive as it says - mostly marginal wines. The menu is definitely not what it is on line. So we order a bottle, which is not opened in front of us (weird) and the waitress also didn't pour the usual taste - just poured the glass. We ordered the Alfredo Shrimp Dip - It is more like a soup than a dip - ugh! Watery - very watery. So I ordered the Artichoke and roasted Red pepper flat bread - OMG terrible - there was very little alfredo, the roasted red peppers were not tangy and there didn't appear to be any mozzarella whatsoever! The chicken wings were good - but that was about it. While we were leaving we saw that they had a Prime Rib special - Really??? Do you think that it might be the responsibility of the waitress to let us know? OMGGG You really need to get your act together. Unbelievable.

Located in the heart of Carthage and just a short drive from Watertown and Fort Drum, The Church Street Diner provides breakfast and lunch all day, every day. On Friday nights, you can enjoy our belly bustin’ fish fry and on Saturday nights our specialty dinner menu. We believe that great, home cooked food should taste fantastic and be pleasurable for the whole family.
Consistently good food and service in a small town diner environment. Owner and staff are always friendly, and meals never disappoint.

We read about this place in the Watertown Times. We were not disappointed.
The atmosphere is comfortable.
There is a large selection of beers on tap.
We had the white pizza which was the daily special ($16), the soup of the day ($3.50), Nachos ($8.50) and half dozen wings ($5.00). More than enough food for 2 people and we had wings and pizza to bring home. The nachos were the best I've had. Soup was super delicious. The pizza had fresh vegetables on it.
Our Waitress was friendly, helpful and efficient.
What more could you want?

The Sahara is owed and operated by Belva and she treats everyone like family. We really enjoy visiting and talking about local issues, I've always said it's like eating at home without the dishes to clean.
If the Tuscan chicken is on special I highly recommend it but everything is good although I've never tried the frog legs...

The sub rolls are the best. They have been serving a good product for many years and this location represents the chain extremely well. Nice people and the place is clean.
